I don't think it would defeat the purpose of the game at all. I just think it would be nice to not only visit Stops, Gyms, and catching in the wild, but also have the game allow for your home to be in it, and allow you to do something there as well. I don't mean catch, train, or level up, but if we could at least have battles between our own Pokemon at our home, we'd have something to ALWAYS do in the game... which would lead to more playing time for us, and more possible IAP made for Nintendo. Win, win.
It's kinda childish to expect something to be all things to all people. Clearly the idea behind the game is to award the most power to people who cover the most territory on foot. If you add in instant gratification from what you can do on your own couch it defeats the purpose. Besides, there are ample traditional pokemon games, and will be more in the future, that cover whatever this lacks. Some fight-your-own-Pokemon-at-home-related iap would doubtless alienate people in its own right anyway.
Brew pub about 5 blocks from where I work has had a lure running pretty much non stop during business hours for the last few days - I'm pretty sure they're footing the bill for lures to get 20-somethings to stop for beer & pokemon...
I've noticed this in my own neighborhood as well, as there are bars everywhere. Sadly, the Poke Stop right below my apartment is not as popular so rarely gets the Lure treatment. But I've stayed out a bit later than planned the last couple of days just to walk around my neighborhood and see if any of the lured poke stops offered anything good (sadly I was having a lot of server issues yesterday, though, so I gave up quickly).
Childish?! Hahaha. Okay. I'm thinking from not only a gamer's perspective, but also a business perspective. And right now this app is little more than some gimmicky fun. But it has the potential to reach many more users and in different ways. What if a kid is limited in his mobility? Would he just keep buying incense all day long? Why not allow him and everyone to practice or do something different while stationary? Anyway, I suggested adding functionality to the app that would give people more to do, not do more of the same sitting on their couch. And why would it have to be IAP? Don't know why some people want to shoot down creative, positive suggestions because it doesn't fit in the box. Making an app do more and reach more people isn't hindering anyone. As it is now, there's definitely room to add.
I don't want to catch more. I want to do something in the app that isn't there now. Thought we could brainstorm fun ideas. But if I'm the only one looking to offer suggestions for improving it, I'll stop suggesting things.
Anyone else having problems logging in? My game was working fine before I updated, but now it doesn't let me in. I'm guessing it's because of the large amount of people joining the servers after updating.
Pokemon Go is the fastest game in history to hit #1 top grossing on both Android and iOS, analytics firms are estimating it's making well over $1.6m a day.
Might wanna uninstall the game, if you're in a region that isn't supposed to have it yet. People are getting banned for it
I am looking forward to it being release in Brazil. However, I think It is going to be awkward playing on street. Lol
Sounds good for now. But $2m/day sounds better. Why is making the game better a debate? I won't buy IAP in it as it is. But give me anything to do while I'm not walking all around town, and I'd probably start investing. Just seems like the next step. Pardon the ironic phrase.
It's not what this game is, if you want to play a traditional Pokemon game you can play at home there's literally two decades worth of games you can play instead.
Slightly off topic question someone might be able to help me with. I'm in Canada but have a US iTunes account. So all was fine, I downloaded the app by switching stores. I moved back and from the app perspective all was good, however it took forever to get Apple Music to resync my playlists and it was a general PITA - I figured that it would be as easy as switching accounts on my computer, downloading any updates and just going from there. So I tried this on my computer, synced my phone and it didn't work at all. It synced over Power Hover (not sure if that was from my phone to the computer or the other way around) - but does anyone know of a current workaround to allow me to update Pokemon GO without having to sign out/in on my phone again?
EDIT: @andsoitgoes, are you logging out/in on your computer or your phone? This should work better if you switch accounts in the App Store on your phone, update, then switch back (rather than on your computer and performing a sync...)
Trainer Accounts: Do Not Update! Well this is great. Was working fine, even after the update was out but I was still on the old version. Decided I might as well update when I got on wifi and it's not even attempting to connect to the server when I try log in. Apparently the update completely breaks log in via trainer accounts on iOS... http://motherboard.vice.com/read/a-pokemon-go-bug-is-locking-people-out-of-their-accounts-pokemon-trainer-club https://m.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/comments/4sjbeq/ios_users_who_login_using_pokemon_trainers_club/?utm_source=mweb_redirect&compact=true Basically don't update if you use a trainer account to log in. It's not a server issue and will require another update to fix.
This is a ground breaking game... I saw it on the news last night, then saw it on sport center this morning. Apparently the Bears and the Lions football players were having some sort of territories challenges. I think Nintendo just the mobile race...
