Am I the only one, or does anyone else think this is kinda dangerous? Especially aimed at small kids? I mean, it's bad enough people are walking around all distracted with their phones these days and accidents happen all the time because of it, but now I'll betcha you'll be hearing about kids getting hit by a car (or worse) because they're glued to their screens looking for these virtual pets all over the place!! I mean, it might be fun on paper, but in reality, I think this is gonna be a bad deal! Just watch! We'll see how this plays out in the news, won't we! #

Lost a Vulpix, Hypno, Graveler, Rapidash, Cubone, and Pikachu within an hour. Every time I caught a Pokemon the game crashed and would say server issues, never did this as I drove around or looKed at things but as soon as I activated the catching sequence it crashed for server maintenance, disappointed. Won't be playing j till the next update which fixes battery life and connectivity.

  5. I was already doing this before the game came out. Just with games that weren't meant to be played this way. :p

    Game isn't fun IMO
    BUT
It's the best thing to happen to gaming since the wii came out.
Nintendo always trying to get us Americans healthy while doing lazy hobbies

So does the game freeze and have server issues every time I use incense? That was a waste.

How long did you guys/gals have to wait to make a Pokemon Trainer Account (if you made one)? I really want to play but the website says that loads of people are trying to make accounts right now.

Looking at the number of reviews on us store.. I can safely say that Niantic didn't expect soooooo many people will be playing this game.. Their beta testers not even 1% of the number of reviewers.. And reviewers typically are only 8-10% of population... So this game has a HUGE following.. Give those Google guys some time to sort it out..
Gaining 9 billion dollars a day for Nintendo stock is no joke.. This game is going to be phenomenal!

Concept of this game is new and fresh so it's attracting more people to play.

Well, it's more like the concept they used in their previous game just got popular because Nintendo paid to have Pokemon slapped on it. I think there are quite a few online GPS related games out there. But catching Pokemon with this just makes sense. Wish there was more to it though. Nothing to do unless I leave the house really. And I mostly want to game at home!

Kinda defeats the purpose of the game.

But the batting is so bad. I'm in it just to catch Pokemon. I don't even bother battling at gyms because it's so bad.

I don't think games that require a phone plan, unlimited data and the ability to walk around for a few miles at a time / drive are aimed at kids. I have played with my kid, yes, but I'm with him. I wouldn't send a child out alone with my phone, haha. My son is, in fact, the only child I've seen playing it, compared to the dozens of adults.

If anyone here isn't satisfied with this or, as a comment above stated, doesn't want to leave their house to play Pokemon, I'd highly recommend picking up one of the 3DS or DS titles. They go into a lot more depth especially in the battling, and for that reason certainly won't be displaced by this fun yet limited alternative.

Yeah, probably a good idea. Since I've only got my old GBA I might just use GBA4iOS to enjoy one of the older games. Until Nintendo gets smart and releases easy premium ports of dead games no longer being made. I'd scoop up almost any of the old Pokemon titles if offered as premium ports!

There are roving packs of kids on bikes in my town traveling from pokestop to pokestop, and parking when someone has a lure active. There was a huge group of strangely assorted individuals outside the local theater yesterday when a lure was active, but it was mostly kids, a handful of 20 and 30 somethings, and a senior all catching Pokemon. There's a pokestop at the church down the street from me that was active all night with local neighborhood kids gathered outside. There are definitely a ton of kids playing. Most kids where I live get their own smart phones pretty young these days. And you don't need to drive or even walk miles. I'm not even in the city and we have 3 gyms and a ton of stops a short walk from one another. Then as I said you've got the Pokemon bike gangs that can rove further. We actually have 1 pokestop that's in a really cool spot deep in the woods at a local park. It's an awesome spot that just happens to be right in a clearing by a creek with a bunch of fallen trees for seating, but it would totally be a dangerous place for kids to go alone if someone knew that they might turn up there.

  17. The game was having a lot of issues for me again yesterday (really odd -- would expect the severs to be less congested on a Monday than on a Sunday). But the Lure thing has to be the smartest idea for this game. I'm sure tons and tons of people are throwing money at Nintendo for those (I'm level 17 and only got 3 Lures from playing). But everyone can enjoy the benefits, even little kids without any money. It's just nice to see a consumable that helps everyone, not just the person using it.

Still wish the game was more stable and the gyms/battles more interesting, and wish it was less of a battery hog. But for the moment I'm enjoying walking around, catching Pokemon and bumping into others doing the same.

There's an ice cream shop in my town with a pokestop right next door. The owner of the shop apparently paid for lures to be active during his business hours all weekend to boost business.

  19. That's brilliant. I wonder how much of a boost to the economy this is having.
