Totally new to Pokemon and even got my wife a bit into it as we drive home. I know not supposed to play driving but hey if it got her to try it who cares! Made it to level 5 and we have tons of Pokemon slots around where we live a small town called Santa Cruz. Beaches full of pokemons and at least 25 spots near us. We also have several gyms nearby. I don't get what to do in a gym? When I enter it has three main characters who have CP 559, CP 600, & CP 605. I'm assuming the number is the skill of their creature. Golbat, Pidgeot, and Golbat again. They gym is level 3. When looking at my Pokemon characters my highest is 41. Not sure what to domain the gym and how to level up my pokemons? Total newbie to Pokemon and not sure what to do. My wife said she got me a few eggs, diamond, and about 30 balls.
Done pretty well today hit level 12 and got Kabuo and Jynx along with many others. Still able to evolve and power-up so many of mine but because I don't know if they are all equal or not when fully powered up I don't want to power up a weak ghastly if another ghastly can be stronger than him? What do you all think? Anyone levelled up many of the same character to see if they can all reach the same health and cp amount? Which abilities do you find more useful in battle the quicker charging or longer?
My wife was playing not me. I wouldn't play while driving as it is against the law. She was a passenger.
Yeah I got rear ended myself today. # I don't know what the kid behind me was doing but obviously not looking at the road so be careful guys.
How do I assign my Pokemon to a gym? My wife says she chose blue but when info to a gym near me it is blue and it has three very stron 600 cp people but I don't appear to be assigned to any gym. I checked to see if I get bonus points by being at a gym and it says not assigned to gym? I thought when I visit the gym near me it will ask me to join but it didn't... Confused as I go into the gym and my highest cp is 71 so I get killed. It says when I tap my avatar that I am Team mystic.
I will say I WISH I played while I drove... I passed up on a Drowzee, 2 Abra's, a Kadabra, and a Seaking because I was driving today. I will be going back there tomorrow. On that note, picked up Ghastly, Bulba, evolved a Vaporeon. I couldn't find the danged Dratini. Good day. You know, people keep saying accidents, but I couldn't find a single report of an ACTUAL road accident using Google search. I think it's just like that "I once knew a guy" or a "friend of a friend" line. I'm not saying it ISN'T happening. I'm saying it's just as likely people being idiots and texting. I have encountered a bug where I can't clear a gym. Happened the other day and I thought it was weird. Different gym, different pokes. same thing. I beat'm til 1 hp.. and then they just wail on my Poke's costing me revive gems. I rebooted app, same issue. Lame. Edit: You chose at level 5. You can only place so many in a gym before you need to level the gym up. I've seen as many as 5 in a gym. You can't kick someone at the gym out. (I tried.. stupid cp 80.. my cp 650 needs a spot) If it's an option, go to gym, bottom left is the button to add to the gym. Pick a Poke and go.
I live next door to a poke stop and it will reset itself in about two or three minutes if I lock my phone.
I posted this in the General Games Discussion thread as well. From a good website called Atlas Obscura: http://www.atlasobscura.com/articles...okemon-go-game I don't play the game and don't really understand the appeal, but I'm fascinated with how a geolocated/AR game can have consequences in the real world.
This is unreal. My entire city is obsessed with this game. In my 33 years I have never seen anything like this. People are all over the street just heads down in their phones but also willing to have great conversations about the game with other people who are interested. I met dozens of people this weekend just randomly talking about the game and striking up conversations trading tips. It feels incredible and so unifying...
Same here. LITERALLY every place I've been to I've run into at least one player. On average on the places I visit there's about 5 trainers or so. Hilarious we kinda look at each other and then suspiciously say hi. Also we can easily see who's playing because there's usually at least one person at each Pokestop. Then when people leave they'll tell my friend and I, "good luck" or "gotta catch em all!" Unfortunately we didn't actually make any conversation. It's definitely crazy how everyday I run into someone playing. Nearly everyone who has their phone out seems to have a good chance of playing it. Kids were playing it, high schoolers, college students, adults, everyone. Love it! I do love how it's getting people to go out and also meeting new people. In a way it might boost the economy (we bought a lot of food and drinks when we went out hunting). Also I think the phone companies are in love with Pokemon Go. Data rates are probably sky rocketing. Down the road Nintendo might even partner with companies and put something exclusive at certain locations and help their businesses out.
My 5 year old's reaction to catching her first Picachu was priceless. Well worth the pokeball farming I did the night before.
It's not even out in the UK yet but we have seen multiple people playing the game when we are out and about playing the game. It's good to get out and about and seeing others playing the game and you generally notice each other. Spent more time out recently than any other and spent money eating out, it's good. My partner just loves being out and about when generally for me unless I am out for a purpose I am uninterested in going anywhere for no reason. This gives me a reason to be out and at the same time enjoy being out together playing and talking and going to parts of the city and area I haven't been to in years. Only problem is that she has better Pokemon than me! She got an eletrobuzz and Lapras today from eggs.
Guys, I have read that if you have a gmail account you can back your game up so when it launched worldwide you can carry on where you left off. Is there any other signin options to backup accounts or does it have to be gmail?
You can sign up for some sort of Pokemon trainer's account or some such thing. I really had no interest in this, but nearly every person I know is suddenly playing this, including many people who don't really play games. People have been wandering into my place of work to catch Pokemon. It's really insane how big this has gotten seemingly overnight. So anyway, I've downloaded it and we shall see if it keeps me interested...
Im afraid that it must be gmail account.I remember that they offered 2 options : gmail and their account (Im not sure about this much ).Cmon man it's just a gmail account !
I've been working on a guide that might help you (http://www.appunwrapper.com/2016/07/08/pokemon-go-walkthrough-guide-tips-tricks/) but basically, keep catching more Pokemon and gaining experience for your own character so you level up. It seems that affects the strength (CP) of the Pokemon that appear for you. But even low CP Pokemon are useful, because you turn them into candy to power up/evolve the stronger ones. I'm now almost level 16 and the Pokemon put up more of a fight and I run out of Poke Balls a lot faster. But I'm also getting some nice strong catches that don't need much powering up.
I'm level 13 so far I would probably be slightly higher if I evolved and powered up some Pokemon but I haven't evolved anything yet despite having nearly 300 pidgy candies and other assorted ones. Still wondering if anyone knows what's best move wise and if some of the same are better still or are all Vulpix the same power as other Vulpix if fully powered up.
