So the soft launch is just the beta?

    Most probably.
Not sure the game will have a "Trainpedia", though. No reference whatsoever to one in the iOS beta.

Official launch for both platforms is, as said, 9/26.

Having played up to lvl7 so far with the android version i can say for the ones that liked pocket planes you'll love pocket trains. It's more restricting because you have to assign a specific train to a specific route and can't have them all going around randomly but that gives it a more strategic feel, for a v1.0 it's extremely polished and looking good and i haven't encountered any bugs. I don't feel it is IAP heavy, true you spend loads of bux in routine situations like refueling and uncrating, but there's plenty of bux to earn by just playing.

There are however a couple of "negative" aspects that i really hope to be implemented because without some of them the games feels unfinished or rushed (and others are just personal preference):

1- Trainpedia - The only way we can get info on trains is if we have parts for it, it lacks the information like we had on pocket planes.

2- Profit from trips - There's no information on how much gold we make with each trip, we have to mentally sum up every cargo we carry to have an idea, again something that was present in pocket planes.

3- No store for parts - There is only one way to get trains: you get crates, you pay 10bux to uncrate and you get a random part. It's completely random, let us have a store like pocket planes where we can buy the specific parts we need for bux.

4- 1 train per line - I feel this is too restrictive, it makes sense that trains can't randomly go around everywhere but maybe let 2 lines overlap, hat would be enough to give a bit more freendom into the strategizing.

5- Stations - I believe there could be more done with the stations, airports in pocket trains felt more alive/complete, only being able to upgrade it to hold more layovers feeld lacking, you could maybe give the ability to upgrade fueling speed, etc.

6- Trains - Same as stations, no uprades available to them, some you can attach other engine or fuel car but no real upgrades. Also, feel little variation on trains, only having diferent colors (and not costumizable), i don't know how the others are, but the steamer set (5 trains) looks exactly the same.

7- Notifications - At least the android version doesn't have notifications for when the trains arrive, refuel, etc You have to actually keep checking the game.

And that's it for now, i believe it is a fun game and i prefer trains over planes but i do feel pocket planes was filled with features that trains is lacking and so it looks a bit rushed.

Great feedback, thanks! Would love to add some of these things in the near future if the game is well received!

    What about bitbook :)
I agree with your points, however this is just a beta version. Look in the screenshots (On the 1st page) there are features that I'm pretty sure don't exist in this android version.

(btw I'm level 5, and this game is very addicting!)

I believe it will be well received. Despite the "negatives" (more like ideas for the future) i listed i really enjoy the game, i was hooked on pocket planes and i'll be even more hooked on this one, it looks and feels good. And it has trains :D

I was one of those that when i knew pocket planes originally was supposed to be trains thought "why did you change?? whyyy?" So thanks for picking the idea back up and making the game. Good job.

I am really looking forward to the iOS release. I participated in the beta, and I agree that it could use a trainpedia (tho I prefer Traindex -- Train + index) and a bitbook. I always liked looking through those things while waiting for planes to reach destinations and floors to restock in PP/TT. :)

Just a Thought for PT Bitbook

I'm sure coming up,with ideas to put into a Bitbook requires time. Time to,think them up, edit, find humor in them...wouldn't it be awesome if NimbleBit had a way for us to submit ideas for a Bitbook? Complete written notes that they could then take & use? Hey, this could even be "in-game" and if selected to be used, then the player could be awarded say 3 BUX?

In the Neo Geo Pocket Color game Densha De Go! there was a minigame in which you had to hook a train locomotive with a wagon on a given time. It was very difficult because if you accelerated too much, you crashed, and if you did it too slow, time ran out. I think something similar would suit Pocket Trains perfectly. It was 2D and the graphics were similar to the PT screenshots.

Really really looking forward to this now, I live in the UK, so is this coming out tomorrow evening, or Thursday evening, Will it be available for Kindle Fire, as I have one of them as well as an iPod touch 4g. How many cities are in it at the moment, I have been playing Pocket Planes almost every day since its release until Sunday Evening, where I did less than half the planes.I might well go back to it at some point but I am pretty excited about this coming out right now.

Sorry but no. Based on past launch experiences we are only releasing on the App Store and Google Play. If there is enough demand we may consider an Amazon launch in the future.
