Yay! Just got to level 9 - now let's open these crates... 2 special crates: Carbon Steamer Mallard (can go towards my fuelcar fund) 27 crates: 5 Emerald Steamers, 5 Global Expresses. How odd. a few random Steamer and express parts 2 Rio Grande Standard parts - max Engines 3, max fuel cars 2, oh yes Ran out of bux with 5 to go... But I think levelling up does improve what you get out of crates, that was much better than last time I opened a load of them.

No that's a key element of the game. You either need to do layovers or temporarily buy the track for another train color to use. In general, use of the Yard and transferring the cargo is the main choice.
Also, I cannot believe Philadelphia is not on the map. No love for the Standard Railroad of the World???
Suggestions Nimbletim / Nimblebit - a suggestion... could you please add an extra response "Go when Refueled" when you click on a link and get the choice of buying fuel or cancelled. A huge amount of mental energy is wasted coming back later and figuring out what/where I was trying to send my trains. Also, can we please start a separate Parts Trading thread. This one is going to drown in a very short time with all the requests as this game gets more popular!
It's OK all the Expresses will be enough of an improvement for now I think, I'll need to buy more routes before I need that much fuel. Edit: forget that, I've just realised I've got no bux left after opening all those crates! I'm sure you will find someone else who will trade you! I think there is one, I will endeavour to use it in future

Thank you too Scorpion I appriciate the help. I know this game can be left alone for a while but while I'm sat watching tv I can't help opening it every few minutes and even in work I find myself trying to find time to send my trains on longer journeys
I've found Africa was hard to get set up, but once I add Asia it will be really nice. Asia has the most connections and the most reasonable-length connections, but the downside of that is that the routes in eastern Europe are themselves much longer than the ones in western Europe. I know some people have had success with NA, running one big fast train cross-ocean.
