Well, I'm finding it refreshing and it makes a lot of sense to me. Perhaps that is because I also like roguelikes. I see each run, whether or not I completed a quest, as making me a little more capable for the next.
Is this crash experienced by everyone? Also do the achievements work? I read in here that they don't sync to GC.
All of my achievements seem to be working fine. I'm resetting my iPad to see if that will fix the issue I'm running into.
Can you let me know if it fixes your crash. I won't buy this if it crashes at the same point each time.
Hmm, I think it's time we told you about the birds and the bees. p.s. this game is really, really good. the gameplay is spectacular.
This game looks good , also , does it resembles Brave Fencer Musashi ? Saw the screenshot and kinda alike.
Fun game; spent a lot of time with it so far. Started getting regular crashes in the Golem level, and then the Snake boss level caused a crash at the same spot preventing me from continuing. Once I realized that starting a different character didn't erase my progress completely, I started a character and then went back and was able to continue since the map regenerated. There was also one specific room that shows a guard and a shopkeeper that are treated as a wall, and thus you are unable to get to them. Happened both times I encountered that same room. I am now at the dragon boss with almost everything unlocked on the archer, and I cannot beat him. He cheats though with that fire beam that saps my strength, many times before I fully enter the room. Frustrating. Hopefully I can figure out his strategy because he is about 10x harder than any other boss so far, and I have nothing specific to unlock to help me (maybe I just need to pick better items). Despite this stuff, the game is a ton of fun, each class plays a LOT differently, and I would love to see more, more, MORE (items, skills, classes, etc) as long as the game gets patched nicely, and soon.
For those having crash problems, do you have iPad 1 or 2? Wonder if it is running out of memory (seems to be the best way to crash iPad) so less of an issue with iPad 2. Also, are the graphics enhanced at all for iPad 2? They look amazing on mine so I ws timing they might be. -Greg
iPad 2. I would assume it is a memory issue, but for the level I got stuck on, I closed all running apps, and even reset the device, to no avail.
Yes! I tried reinstalling the app and starting again as well as rebooting my iPad 2 but they still aren't registering.
I've found what I think was the problem in the Golden Dungeons area that caused the semi-regular crashing (it didn't happen in any of our testing playthroughs before the release unfortunately)... so that should be fixed in the next update... I'm looking into what the gamecenter code is doing...
you guys thinking of adding multiplayer, more charachters, items/abilities? I think a online battle reward system would be good if you can balance the chars.
What I'm busy with now is fixing everything that isn't working right... Then we're going to add some better help and explanations and a few extra mechanics/tweaks (like magnetized coins and potions). And then we will work towards releasing it on the iPhone. Abilities and items are relatively easy to produce, so we'll definitely be adding a bunch of those. I'm not certain whether we'll create a new character... we might instead add more customizable options for the current characters and so cover more play-styles that way. But a new character is a possibility. And we intend to add another area and a couple more monsters. That's a big cost so we've got to scrounge up some more budget first. We have some REALY epic ideas that'll add a lot of value to Pocket RPG. Multiplayer would be lovely... and I'm going to look into it... If Multiplayer happens it might not be co-op dungeon crawling through the current quests, but rather co-op crawling through special co-op quests, or perhaps arena battles facing waves of monsters. Multiplayer is something I'd really love to play myself, but that's further down the line.
iPad 2 here. First off - let me say this is a fantastic game, and a LOT of fun. You guys are to be commended for the idea and the effort. I think part of the issue with upgrades and experience is that folks expect it to handle like Dungeon Siege or Diablo. I was initially taken aback by the lack of carry over itself, but then I realized that your scheme of tidbit sized adventures where you start all over from scratch was a really good fit for the title of the game, and most likely what you intend. Many folks see something like this and automatically assume that it's going to be setup like things they have played before. This can get in the way of enjoying a new experience for what it is. Anyway, what follows is a list of issues that I almost wasn't going to post (because seriously, I didn't want to tear myself away from the game) but since you're regular contributors here, I figure you really want to know about these things. Given that you guys pulled it at the last minute to fix it, I'm really confused as to why the beta testers didn't catch this stuff. Some has been mentioned in other posts, but FWIW, here are some that may or may not have been mentioned: Disappearing guards (the ! over the head is there, but the guard is not. However when I click on them I get their dialogue) I did have one crash (same as others are reporting) Lots of little grammar and spelling errors (like bezerk instead of berserk, and others - mostly on the loading screens). Does not effect play, but it does make the title appear - unpolished. When changing to advanced controls when first starting a game, I got the resume option, overlapping the start game button. Note - this was before I started my first game. I quit, then restarted, choose my character and once in the game went out to the advanced options to change controls (BTW - that is a great way to control touchscreen games!) and then everything was fine. Additionally, I've noticed the following (which may or may not be intentional): When you level up in the midst of striking someone else or just before the experience bar goes down, you can trigger additional level ups. I've done this and had 6-7 level ups in a row, within instants/seconds of each other. Kinda neat actually, but if unintended, I have a feeling it's upsetting the intended play balance. Starting a level with less than full health (after leaving the previous level with full health), and loosing any experience as well. Note I'm not talking about going between "chapters" here, just exiting one dungeon enroute to another. And then there's this. See the attached? Seconds before I was doing 20 pts per best attack. A few minutes later, I was back to that. This has happened a couple of times. What gives?
It looks like there are seven areas on the map. Is that the whole game for now? Do you have to finish all the levels/areas before you can replay them! I notice that each spot shows how many wins you have, but currently where I am in the game it doesn't seem like I can redo those levels yet.
Another thing you guys might want to do is to put a help file in that explains some of this stuff - what the different colored potions do for example, or how the level ups work... Some of that is in there, but either after I already got frustrated trying to figure it out, or there is just not enough detail.
That comes later. You have to get to a certain point in your first campaign and that unlocks. I've already finished and replayed a couple of "chapters" at this point.
