Game froze Whatever you do do not die then quickly look at your inventory. You get the inventory screen but your characters avatar is not there and it freezes! As in you have to shut off thr game and restart. Otherwise this is a great game. But I do find it weird how i can just run through almost every enemy.
I've got a problem with the Snake boss's map... Its starting normally, however after I cross first door the game turns off (I checked this few times). I tried to restart my iPad and make some ram space but still its crashing. Anyone had similiar problem?
Thanks Parranoya... I'm going to fix this right now... Yes, this is the case right now... I'm going to look into fixing this, but it needs some testing and probably won't be in the next update. There is a problem that sometimes happens in the current version in the Golden Dungeons. It's a big pity we weren't able to pick it up in testing. I believe I've fixed this already, but I'm going to test it thoroughly and make sure the update fixes it... Thank you Xenosage for the feedback.
Guys, are you ever going to make a true RPG as well? You have everything ready for it ... I would love to see this game into a true RPG with a great story!!!
I agree with DTF. After playing several times now, I have now deleted it from my iPad 2. I hope updates will make it better but I personally cannot get into it. It's not a RPG at all but an adventure rogue type of game. If this was actually a RPG game, it might have been terrific. Thanks to the Devs for their very hard work, It still has flashes of good stuff but as it stands for me, it's frustrating, disappointing still and half baked.
It might not be to everybody's taste but I find it a great Replayable Action/Roguelike. While many would love some sort of a story, I'm actually quite happy there is none. While a clever story might have made your first run through the game much more engaging...what is more tedious than running through the same story again as you shoot for a higher score? Maybe it could be seen as an infinitely replayable dual stick shooter with hints of streamlined RPG goodness tossed in for the Hell of it.
LG I think the issue is that this is not what people (including me) expected especially when RPG is used, expectation are of a certain kind. This said, I am enjoying a lot actually and I am not bored as I was fearing I would be. I just stoped thinking of it as a RPG (Pocket Rogues was a better name!!). But the questions to the devs stay: - can you let us change character from adventure to adventure? - can you one day make a real RPG with this fantastic engine???
You hit the nail on the head. This is the tried and true method used in games like Shiren the Wanderer. You have few innate skills and almost all abilities come from your items. While starting from scratch for each adventure might seem a bit of a kludge, it is the best way to keep everything balanced and reduce the possibility of a player who had a good run on one adventure being too overpowered on their next run.
Or a library of "books" think iBooks. Short story books on a shelf, each one a separate story. Cool thing is you could leave shelf space for new episodes as you add them. Just a thought. I'm really into the game. First day of a 10 day vacation with the inlaws and this is a solid break when I need some daddy time. Luckily, my 4 year old daughter thinks it is too scary and doesn't want to take over the iPad.
Exactly. I'm enjoying it immensely -- and it feels different enough to not be just another dungeon crawler. Personally, I'm glad there's no story- that way I don't have to keep hitting "skip" which I generally do. I don't mind if the reading is part of an interactive dialogue tree (as in Mass Effect-style), but in this type of game, I want to hack away, find treasures, equip, buy & sell, and make it to the end alive.
The shelf of books idea is actually pretty neat. We could spin it like you're reading a story about this hero who gets stronger through-out each adventure. Thanks for the idea Rage, I'll speak to Evan about this
Having a book shelf fill up as you complete adventures would be nice. Then letting you click on each book and see some details/scores of that run. For me I need something to make me feel that I make som progress - that is stored. This could be it.
We originally intended to allow character swapping from level to level... That kind of got lost when we developed the map progression and the skills progression and realized that playing quest 4 with the Blade Master after playing the first three quests with the Dark Ranger would either be too hard, or would end up skipping the experience of starting off weak with the Blade Master and building up. It was too much of a design headache so it was scrapped. I can guarantee you that I will one day make a proper Diablo-like RPG. I can't speak for Tasty Poison (although I know Filip is keen) as they may have other commitments/plans for the future... Doing it without Tasty Poison would make it hard to match the awesome artwork that Filip has done... but it's definitely going to happen. If we had had the budget Pocket RPG might have been more like a proper RPG, but because we were so limited we decided to spend our money on combat and explosions Next time we may be able to scrounge up more money. This is a very nice idea! I'm going to speak to Filip about it when he gets back to the office.
You should be able to have icons next to the attack area that let you quickly change arrows/scrolls/weapons. This way you could quickly change from fireball to split shot, etc. Right now there's only one attack at a time... gets very repetitive... unless I am missing something. Plus the load times to start a new adventure or go back to the menu screen are pretty long.
Is it an already known issue that once you complete an adventure the shown highscore and adventure description on the map don't match the adventure just completed? Like I clear the Abominable Snowman adventure and see that I've supposedly just cleared the Inferno one (I'm pretty sure I can tell icy cold from hellfire). If this is only happening to me perhaps I should start a new game? Also I swear I've received the Hoarder Achievement in adventures I most DEFINITELY sold items...unless that just means on one level somewhere in there I didn't.
Also, as battle Mage, what's the point of having mana when I just spam my spells. Doesn't seem to make a difference if my mana is maxed out or depleted. My spells still go off every second or two. It's also annoying having to lift my finger off to release a spell. Should auto fire like ranger.
Higher mana when the spell is cast = more bolts I'm having an issue where I haven't gotten a secret area in 20 or so adventures. I remember getting them for the first 4 or 5 levels but it seems all replays result in Secrets 0/0.
