If you upgrade a black dot airport does it turn it to blue so class 2 planes can land there?

So once you buy a few blue and red airports its not a bad idea to sell the black airports then? Or do you guys keep them or what? Frustrating when you board up and realize the plane can't land there

 

Yep just sell them I try to buy class 3 airports for future planes that I will be buying so they won't encounter such problems, but for class 1 planes don't sell them as they are useful for events that require class 1 planes
