I would participate as soon as practical... At that level 35 bux is still worthwhile... Didn't have an extra sequoia, but I did send you a cyclone I wasn't using anymore. I have a fog buster you are welcome to, but they are not the most economical plane to put in service...

Interesting, because they change around 2 PM EST for me..., not sure about an overlap since I don't play too much during the weekday... I been playing a little less as Dragonvale has been taking some of my free time as well...

Thanks KickAssLee & Faye ! I've received the planes with thanks and their turning over record profit for me ! London to Tokyo is quite the worthwhile route although I'll be going transatlantic soon enough. I would love a pair of cloudliners but hey I'm appreciative of what I've been given.

For some reason on the flight crew tab, it shows "next event soon enough" (or words to that effect) screen instead of the Rome - how much time is left ?

I've finally hit the 1 million mark and I'm pondering between adding another city or a plane slot ? I have 11 slots & 12 Airports (All class 3 non are upgraded). I'm thinking another slot as I'm somewhat OCD here !

Guess this is the new Global Event schedule.

The Rome event ended here at noon (pacific time), which was 20 minutes ago.

And now we are in a new one hour long mini Global Event in Hilo, running from noon to 1pm. There is still 40 minutes remaining in the event.

And then at 1pm (40 minutes from now), I assume it will switch to the usual 3.5 day long Global Event in a new city.

It's odd to see that there weren't any special Global Events during the Olympics- usually there is something with a better reward for various World Cup or Olympic competitions in the appropriate city. But it doesn't seem like it will happen for Rio 2016 as the current event goes to pretty much the end of the games. Is this some kind of sign of neglect or did I miss an earlier Rio-related Global Event?

I recommend upgrading all class 3 (red) airports you plan on keeping open permanently. Fully upgraded airports would give you 60 layover slots, and you'd also have a larger pool of jobs listed.

Short on coins? Some of those plane parts can be sold for almost 10k coins.

I agree with Faye, you will benefit greatly in the long run by upgrading your class three airports...

I'm thinking first of all closing down some Asian airports. Ideally Seoul & Bejing as theirs far to many airports on that side of the map and it dilutes the job pool for Tokyo which I need as I'm running big money errands between LA & Tokyo.

I've discovered a way (Which works for me) to getting bux and its increased mine quite well ! I started off in Tokyo and I've slowly been opening Class 3 airports going in the Easterly way. I've skipped out Shenyang Xian, Dhaka, Delhi, Lagos (For now), Moscow & Paris (To close to London) so I have good distance between my airports but I also opened up LA & New York.
Essentially I've put 2 Birchcraft - Ms @ LA & NY and they run back and forth carrying bux jobs laying over at each other. The bux jobs they bring in are usually 6-9 per job some times over 25 per full craft. I occasionally use a Clyclone to ferry all the layovers to London to which my main fleet disperse to their respective destinations. I've found this to work well. I've already reach 2'000 since my last post in which I mentioned my stats.
I understand the loss of profit per flight but bux are valuable and my LA - Tokyo runs routinely bring in 10'000 per flight so I'm covered plus if I don't get a full craft, I usually fill up the craft with jobs for either airport which sometimes brings in a profit or at the very least minimizes the loss.
P.S - Thanks to those who donated the crafts !

Birchcraft? Ugh. I've sent you an Aeroeagle as well as a Cyclone and Sequoia. I love my Aeros. Upgrade them for max distance and you can make the NY-London and NY-Rio runs (plus Kinshasha or Lagos to either Rio or London).

I keep a lot of red cities open and fully upgraded, too many probably, with a distance-maxed Cyclone M stationed at each one: LA, NY, Rio, London, Paris, Moscow, Lagos, Kinshasa, Cairo, Istanbul, Tehran, Mumbai, Seoul, Tokyo, and Manila. Whenever there's an event I load up at each city with event jobs plus any 3+ bux jobs to my open reds, then converge on the nearest red to the event city. Sometimes this means temporarily opening and upgrading another red city if the event host is out of range for whatever class of plane it can handle. Or I might just string together a bunch of 1s to reach the destination. Whichever amuses me at the time. :)

Its been something I've been doing for a while but I find it works, I only used the Birchcrafts as they were only immediately available but I guess I'll have to upgrade to the Aeroeagle now !

I don't have red cities in South America Open sadly as well. I just want to get into a good routine big money flight and I find my Sequoias are bringing in more money than my Cloudliners per flight  although I'll need to carry more flights to be sure but DAMN they take ages to fill up. I'm contemplating just replacing them Sequoia P&C pairs.

    Back to the roots

    Hi Folks

I uninstalled PP a long time ago thinking that my Airline was safely secured in the cloud. As you surely know that's not the case. So here I am grinding to get these Class 3 planes. As some other users that started playing again I think I forgot a lot. I love the community here so I will be switching to #toucharcade1 starting with the next event. Would be fun if you ad me GC is "Haexii".

Currently I am at Lvl 14, got 7 Mapples and 2 Navigator M. My strategy is to fill my pockets with bux until I am able to afford Aeroeagles. (Lvl 16) I split the airline into America and Europe and got a few C3 Airports (LA, Chicago, NY, Mexico City, London Lvl2, Istanbul, Moscow). LA-Moscow/Istanbul is my Goal when I get the eagles.

I don't have a very thought through strategy on layovers. Any advice? (Do I load big planes with cash bonus or do i use the big planes to get high price layovers? In short -> revenue with few big or alot small planes?)

Looking forward to share with a community.

Speaking from experience, it was a good idea you decided to skip the Pearjets. Keep the bux and as they'll serve you well when the Sequoias come into play (Level 22).

In my experience layovers are good for either Events or bux jobs. I personally use them for bux jobs (Explained in a post further up the page), I find it works quite well.

    Good Luck man.

What is the most profitable route ?

I've longed thought LA - Tokyo was the most profitable route with a decent profit of 20'000+ coins with full packed cloudliners but I routinely do the route and it just isn't the case. So far my record profit is 15'448 and thats using Sequoias to do the journey and my cloudliners get even less than that.

As I'm writing its occurred to me, it could 1 of 2 things. Either the route I'm traveling isn't the best. Its currently LA - NY - London - Tehran - Tokyo (And Vice Versa) or is it possibly that my crafts need upgrading ? Im thinking its the latter.

I don't remember what is the most profitable route. Maybe someone posted about this in the past? Check the link in my signature (I think it is still there? Can't see it on the mobile version) and see if someone has done that.

Straighter routes tend to be more profitable. Do you have Cyclones yet? Those can do LA - NY - Istanbul - Seoul - Tokyo. Sequoias can't do NY-Istanbul. However it costs more to fly Cyclones than Sequoias.

I've finally decided to conduct active bux sitting and my my isnt it tedious !

I have all Class 3 planes (Bar Cloudliners as they're a piss take to fill up and they take a huge loss) and after doing these errands, I have mixed feelings about this.

    My Strategy is this.
My primary hub is London, its maxed out in terms of upgrades and its routinely maxed in terms of layovers. I use Birchcrafts and Aeroeagles to ferry my Bux layovers to their end destinations. I've noticed my bux increasing which I like and I admire those who have loads of slots as I believe they traded in their bux for the extra coins required for the slots.
My contention here is my big money makers before I adopted this strategy were 2 pairs of C/P Sequoias located at Tokyo & LA. I would fill them up and send them to each other and they bought in good profits (16 grand plus EACH) and with 4 of them you can imagine ! I've had to decommission them to make room for bux sitters. My coins have nearly hit a plateau but they're just steadily rising and my bux sitters when they drop off the bux at London post losses in the thousands. I can put forth a counter argument here that when I return them back to their cities I fill up them up the 25% bonus and they pretty much cancel the loss out but I have to attribute this to my slow gains of coins. To somewhat combat this, when I need a job or two to fill the plane up to London, I'll just add a few London jobs to bring down the loss but it cuts down into the amount of bux I also take over.

I have 18 slots now thankfully but I'm thinking should I bring my Sequoias back or just carry on currently ?

PS: When should I have trade in my bux for coins ? I have nearly 13'000 (I'm impressed) and I feel doing it or should I hold out ? Plus can others relay their bux sitting strategies as well Please.

    Many Thanks

Waiting to redeem bux has the effect that the longer you wait, the more each of them is worth. So the amount of coins you gets grows quadratically with the number of bux redeemed. So that is a good reason to wait. But there is a limit (some kind of integer overflow) for the total number of coins you can have, so you do not want to wait too long. I'm pretty sure I learned about that here but I'm not able to find the limit looking through old posts. If you have absolutely no coins accumulated already, I remember it is something like 65,000 bux. There are various "Pocket Planes Bux Calculators" you can search for and I think the coin limit is 2^31-1 = 2147483647 (signed 32 bit integer overflow) so you can work backwards from that if needed.

Update: I've decided to put my bux sitting on hold in an effort to gain more plane slots as I currently have only 18 so I figured I'll need to pump up my coins. I reintroduced my Sequoia C/P duos at Tokyo & LA respectively. This time round, as soon as these 4 got off the ground, I used another 4 Sequoias and loaded them up and made them to the run as well so I essentially had 4 Sequoias in the air and another 4 loading up. Only downside was I waited for 4 to fill up before sending them and they are a paint to fill up and I intend to exchange roughly 5'000 bux for a few slots.

My end goal here is to essentially get more and more slots and planes and to open up all class 3 cities and have planes in all cities as to make bux sitting more profitable in the long run. I've yet to participate in an event and I doubt I can do anything with 18 slots versus some people who have in excess of 40 !

P.S: Can I advertise more than 1 city at a time ? I'm thinking I should advertise both Tokyo & LA so its easier filling them up and if I get all 8 planes in the air quickly, I could potentially get another 2 pairs of C/P Sequoias so I have 12 planes running in tandem helping me to boost my coins.

Life got really busy for me in June/July and I started skipping Global Events purely by accident. I don't think we've had a good full-plane event for over 18 months now, which is sad and is what keeps me now from going back to this game.
