Whew! I thought I would have to try to get TA1 up to the Top 10 by myself! Looks like you and Faye are now doing it too! (Psst... I'm going to quit the event after a little bit because Chicago needs my Aeroeagle) Also, check out my new strategy up top. It's a lot more fun now.
Darn it! Was at a party all day today and you guys are creeping up on me! Now Faye is in the lead with 516 jobs New York is completely stuffed with Layovers lol. Prob shouldn't be running 15 planes transatlantic with only 2 aeroeagles taking them to San Fran!
Well, I finally decided to cash some bux, and was able to add 15 more slots! Probably not in time to significantly impact this event (certainly won't catch Faye), and now I need to build a few more Aero's and perhaps a few more Sequoias to fill them. Didn't realize I was so plane poor until I had the extra slots to put them in...LOL... Also need to close some airports, still have way too many class 1's open from past events that I never closed, and I'm fairly certain that they are diluting my job pool... -Jeff
I don't always see where TA1 falls on the leaderboard, but I think we usually make the Top 10? We're not doing too bad for the current event. We're #5 at the moment. You're pretty good at delivering a lot of jobs when you have the time to play. I know you have to work much harder with a smaller fleet of planes. I haven't used any Class 2 planes in aeons. I just use Class 1 planes for the Class 2 events. too lazy to swap out planes from the hangar. Funny thing with the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. I thought this event ended yesterday, thinking yesterday was Saturday, so I stopped sending event jobs and started cleaning up Bux layovers. LOL
Getting an early start on the Aden event. Most of my planes are in the air. Still have some that need to make the slow trip to Aden via South America. It's about an hour and a half for the Mapples and was around 2 hours for the Kangaroos. TA1 is #3 at the moment. Oh, I just noticed that I had a new PM from several weeks back. Tried to reply and discovered that I'm out of space and can't send messages. So here is my condensed reply: I don't like Cloudliners. My favorites are the Cyclone and Mapple/Kangaroo, which makes up most of my fleet. You can always sell Cloudliner parts for almost 10k coins. Every bit helps. Happy flinging!
Your strategy from an earlier post: Chicago/LA-> NY <-> Istanbul <-> Shanghai <- Tokyo/Seoul. (Replying from phone makes it hard for me to quite from more than one post) I think I may have some something similar to this at some point in time. Nowadays, I tend to pool my Bux layovers in London/Paris. I have one Bux sitter in Tokyo/Seoul. It fills up in Tokyo and gets flung to the other Seoul. Dumps the jobs in Seoul and starts collecting again. Once filled, it goes back to Tokyo, dumps the jobs and starts collecting again. I suppose I should have a pair of Bux sitters that swap places each time if I were more aggressively Bux collecting. Two planes devoted to Bux delivery (sequoia, c-130) that eventually end up in Seoul/Tokyo will grab jobs for one specific city if there are enough jobs going there to make it, otherwise it picks up the Bux jobs and drops them in London or Paris.
Who was the person who was #2 during the San Francisco event? Anyways, big mistake trying to add Sequoias as feeders! They are just too darn big! The lcm of 12 and 10 is 60 so basically I have to fill up the airport with Sequoia jobs for the Cyclones to carry them. Not likely- the game likes to troll us by providing us with zero bitzens to Shanghai yaaah! Added several more Aeroeagles including the two I used for the event to LA -> NY because the trip takes a breathtaking 18 minutes. Wish Toronto or Detroit was Class 3 now. Some funny pictures I wanted to show:
Tips- Level by Level Level 7- Replace Your old planes with Kangaroos. Level 8- If you want, replace some planes with Mapples. You can always do so later though. Level 10- With any new plane slots, try to buy and commission Birchcraft and Mapples. Level 12- Skip the Equinox. Horrible plane with no meaning Level 14- Pearjets. Can buy several of these babies but save some bux for the next big plane. You can go transatlantic buy fully upgrading Pearjets. Level 16- Aeroeagles are your big thing. Replace all Kangaroos with Aeroeagles and run a predominate Aeroeagle business. You will not find a better plane until 22. Level 20- Skip the Fogbuster. Too fast with too little capacity. Save your bux. Level 22- Sequoias! A 10 seater monster. If you plan on using a Sequoia fleet, get as many as you can. These are great planes (but I can complain about the range). Level 24- Skip the Tetra. Too fast! Yuck! Level 26- We reach the Cyclones, which are my plane of choice. I used to run Sequoias but I figured Cyclones are much better since I play in chunks (School from 7-3 of course and bed) and the fact that Aeroeagles are exactly half of Cyclones (so hubs are very clean now). Depends on your playing style. Level 28- Cloudliners. I, personally did not like them because their requirement of too many feeder jobs. Also 17*2= 34 P/C mixes if you buy P/C pairs which is my only option because M's are so uneven. That means that your are 8 over your layover limit when using 4 Cloudliners. Whereas, with Cyclones, Sequoias, and Aeroeagles (and even Pearjets just for hypothetical reasoning) all evenly divide 60 so they can work better than Cloudliners can. Level 30- Noki B6 and UAV. The Noki B6, is frankly, a novelty plane and shouldn't be used for daily operation. The UAV, however can be used for cargo-only events or mystery part sitting (if we're going to have one! Come on Nimblebit!). Level 36 (What I'm on now)- Running a hub and feeder strategy seems to work well. Daily revenue jumping to 600,000 per day which is good for only a little bit of playing per day. Bux also is very rampant now- got around 500 bux today and got almost another Cyclone fully upgraded. Now almost 8! "Best Planes" Class 1 for users who play not too frequently (check on and go): Kangaroo-M. A lot of capacity and the speed doesn't matter- just less profit lost. Class 1 for users who play frequently: x10 Mapple Pro. A lot of capacity and fast speed. Great range too! Class 2 Period: Aeroeagle. Is not too fast but not too slow. Perfect, can go transatlantic with upgrades. Also a great feeder plane. Class 3 for users who play not too frequently: Sequoia. A great plane that almost always makes profit. A great feeder plane for me- except for the LCM with Cyclones. Class 3 for users who play frequently: Cyclone. Can make a lot more profit than a Sequoia if you babysit the game a little bit more. Great transatlantic planes as fully upgraded can go New York -> Istanbul. Great TransatlanticRoutes: New York -> London - Pearjets 3x Range Upgrade Optimal - Aeroeagles 2x Range Upgrade Optimal - Fogbuster - Sequoia Optimal - Tetra 1x Range Upgrade - Cyclone - Cloudliner New York -> Paris - Fogbuster - Sequoia Optimal - Tetra 1x Range Upgrade - Cyclone - Cloudliner New York -> Istanbul - Cyclone 3x Range Upgrade Optimal - Cloudliner 1x Range Upgrade Chicago -> Istanbul - Cloudliner 3x Range Upgrade Optimal
It might have been me. I don't know why but I'm still flinging planes and still trying to beat Faye in each event! When I started playing this game I was a recent master's graduate and looking for a suitable job. Now I'm a part-time doctoral student while working full time for - by some coincidence - a major player in the aviation industry. Cyclones might be more sensible for those treks between Class 3s but I'm too attached to my Sequoia fleet to give them up...
Looks like kickasslee kicked ass on the Aden event leaderboard. Santiago is up next. Don't know how much time I'll have to fling planes during the next few weeks with the holidays and all. But I'm definitely going to fling enough planes to get a c-130 part. I love that plane almost as much as my sequoias. So.... Will we ever have another mystery part event? I miss those.
It's amazing what adding a few plane slots will do for the ability to fly with the big guns! Was seriously pushed right to the very end, but I'm not sure by who... No identity on my leaderboard for either of the two players right behind me, so I would love to be able to add them... -Jeff
Oh gosh, I remember mystery parts. And the Kringle Kruiser! I still have several in my fleet. But I've never run C-130s - the ones I have are sitting in mothballs. If they're Valentine-approved I may have to swap out a Sequoia to see how it goes. Santiago reminds me of why I keep lots of Aeros in the hangar.
A measure of how unpopular these events have become: I just casually ran Mapples between Buenos Aires -> Santiago and back round trip- which takes 15 Minutes. I racked up a very low number of 52 jobs- yet still placed in the top 10. Now it's film shoot in Paris. Might just skip this one since Paris is Class 3 and it's basically just "send full Cloudliners and Cyclones over" event with no plane or even plane part as a reward. We need sort of a bigger challenge/reward- How about: Christmas Celebration In Nome- Winner + Top 10: Kringle Kruiser + 10 Bux Top 100: Kringle Kruiser + 3 Bux Under 100: Kringle Kruiser Part New Years Day Celebration In New York- Winner + Top 10: Blimp + 10 Bux Top 100: Blimp + 3 Bux Under 100: Blimp Part Icicle-Fest in Iqaluit Winner + Top 10: Huey + 50 Bux Top 100: Huey Part + 50 Bux Under 100: Huey Part + 10 Bux Lindbergh Celebration in Hilo Winner + Top 10: P40 Warhawk + Starship Top 100: P40 Warhawk or Starship Under 100: P40 Warhawk (Save for 2016) Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro Winner + Top 10: Blimp + Sea Knight Top 100: Sea Knight or Blimp Under 100: Blimp Outback Ceremony in Hobart Winner + Top 10: C-130 Hercules + 10 Bux Top 100: C-130 Hercules Part Under 100: 10 Bux Major Outbreak in Mogadishu Winner + Top 10: Concorde + 10 Bux Top 100: Concorde Part + 10 Bux Under 100: Concorde Part + 3 Bux (The reason why Concorde is given as reward is because we need fast speed and large capacity to get all the victims to the hospital) Antarctic Exploration in Punta Arenas Winner + Top 10: Huey Top 100: Huey Part Under 100: Cloudliner-C Part + Cloudliner-P Part
I like the overall plan. I am not a fan of class 3 events though... Does not seem to be much of a challenge in them.
Thank you for the plane part. Did you try out the C-130? Some people don't like it for a couple of reasons. There is the uneven 6C/4P split compared to the more even 5C/5P on the Sequoia. There have been times when I wish I could pick up a 5th passenger. And you can't see how fully loaded it is from the airport view. I had one C-130 delivering pooled Bux jobs in Paris and a Sequoia delivering pooled Bux jobs in London. The C-130 is helping out in London during the current Paris event.
The Class 3 events are rather boring, however the location of this one in Paris makes it a great opportunity for anyone who wants to stock up on Bux. Planes in all other cities pick up Bux jobs and Paris jobs. Dump all the Bux jobs in Paris, and then they fly out delivering Bux plus City filler jobs. It's an easy and mindless way to rack up Bux. Nice ideas! I would love to see another Kringle event. Those come in handy, along with the Mohawks, for Easter Island events. I did Easter Island once, a long long long long time ago, using Blimps. That took a loooooooong time to make a round trip. I also like the long distance class 1 events since it allows me to fling some planes, and then come back much later to fling some more. I don't like having to fling planes continuously. Those events with 2 to 5 minute turnaround times are tough. I also find the game pause when planes drop off or land very annoying while I'm trying to play the game.
I prefer Class 1 events. I play Class 2 events with Class 1 planes (I don't even have any Class 2 planes at the moment). You can collect a lot of Bux during this current Paris event.
I'm just curious of who else is playing in TA1? I probably should start adding GC Names but I wonder if they ever check to accept or not... I wonder how long this game will keep me addicted since I'm only using 18 planes right now and too bored even though I have the cash to add some more plane slots (and too micromanagement-heavy). I'm dying to pull out some Cloudliners but I, again, hate them in a way too. Just running pairs of Cyclones (10) and 6 Aeroeagles feeding them. Sequoias are too iffy to feed Cyclones. LOL Now I hate the C-130 too since the range is 2,700 stock and just misses NY -> Istanbul which effectively takes it out as a Bux Sitter and also is uneven which effectively takes it out as a Feeder. Probably would have to run something alongside it... Wait nothing works since the Starship is twice as fast and the only other thing is a Wallaby-P
Really hoping for the part to make my 22nd concorde. Probably the only thing that makes my airline unique. I need an engine. Hope we get at least one more mystery part event before the game ends???
