Using my classic Xian hub strategy with 53 planes (including 40 cyclones M, 10 P/C event cloudliners or cyclones for the 5 nearest cities) and my permanent 20 airports. The event P/C planes are assigned to a specific airport and go back asap. The other M planes all go to Xian with Bux and event jobs, and go back full to a random city with the 25% bonus. This double focus event jobs/Bux collecting working well, so far about 5k Bux collected and 5k jobs. For events like this in a class 3 Asian city, if you want the maximum event jobs, just have the 5 to 10 class 3 airports open, close all others, and ferry event jobs non stop. I like to collect Bux also in class 3 events as the hub strategy makes it convenient as you don't have to care about event jobs layovers.
I like your strategy. I'm running 39 Sequoias through all 32 Class 3 airports. The thought crossed my mind to run Cyclones or Cloudliners for the speed but I can't make myself pull the trigger because of the profitability of the Sequoias. I understand the concept of losing coins to the profit of bux conversion but I still can't pull the trigger. I actually bought 3 Cloudliners, upgraded them, flew a couple of low profit routes, then gifted them to a friend I took your advice a while back and reduced my Class 3 airports but ended up buying them all back. So I'm sort of stuck at a happy plateau of 40 plane slots and 32 Class 3 airports. However, that is kind of relegating me to 3rd or 5th depending who is playing Bobby BJLemurcat
You'll have plenty of time, the event ends at 9 AM Sunday my time, so I don't play for the last bunch of hours I'm almost finished unless kiddos wake me up during the night lol. @BobbyH : I've used the Sequoias for the longest time, don't feel like you need them already lol And you can forget Cloudliners, they are not very useful unless you pair one C and one P for specific Bux or event strategies. I think I went full Cyclone Ms after my first 60k+ Bux for 2 Bln coins exchange and around 50/55 slots. When I thought I wouldn't do another Bux exchange so I spent my remaining Bux this way and I was so flush in coins they didn't matter also.
I'm fairly competitive ! I've put my Dissertation (Thesis) on hold just for this. Your quite the competitor and I haven't felt pressure like this. I think playing on a tablet compared to a phone helps somewhat. My personal strategy is firstly advertise the city and then place a large plane in selected regions and they collect jobs from that region and feed it back to Xian and so forth. I've also opened up smaller airports and the smaller planes do the same but for them, so each craft is relegated to a region and airport of its own class. I always keep my crafts busy and you'd be surprised how the job tally picks up.
Please do not take this wrong, I am not criticizing or judging, but when I play and check the leaderboard, I do not consider your score because we are not playing on a level playing field. Let me know when you reset your device without the hack. I think you are able to boost flights because you can gain bux faster than me. For the record, I don't care if I'm first or last, I just try to keep TA1 in the top 10 for the prize I just happen to remember your first post. Again, I'm not judging, it's just that your desire to be in the lead will be more meaningful if we are playing with the same software values. I have the android variant plus a friend of mine who's an ethical hacker went into my game and changed a few values, while it hasn't increased my coins or bux it has allowed me to get them more quickly than the average joe.
You guys are at such a different level than I am - I love to play, but still am flying some of my original planes for nostalgic purposes - they are CUTE! I actually bought a sequoia because Bobby was talking about his sequoias - wow! I had a 14000 coin run as a result! It is interesting to read your posts, and very educational, so thanks so much for keeping this page going.
You have quite a valid and I fully understand it although I wish to say this. Another of my initial posts was asking on how to get bux (Bux sitting) as I found myself barely getting 20 a day, although a post you made, I changed my approach and well as of this post I have 9252, yourself on has a commen`dable 14 grand +. Although I have 20 slots, I have 12 million in coins, I've refused to buy more slots till I win a competition (Motivation). You have a point and if anything I added it into this forum so I had it coming although from my view, the only thing I experience really is lag on opening the game, the flight crew updates every few hours and I'll be honest with you mate, If my game was really as great anyone thinks it is, I wouldn't have 20 slots, 1 Sequoia or 9000+ bux, I've seen many people on here who have had 2 or 3 times what I have. I personally attribute my constant playing if anything, I'm on the game whenever I'm at home and If I'm out, I'll play on my phone for short bursts, I play on my tablet because a larger screen is better. I would add a screenshot of my game but the insert picture tab asks for a URL. Hope that clears anything. Cheers
Phoenix Event Just popping in to say hello. Something has changed. This forum looks different on my phone now. You guys cranked out some high numbers for Xian! Any event in that part of the world should be an easy slam dunk for anyone, especially with the plethora of surrounding class 3 cities. Yay! The current event is in Phoenix. I just spent my Spring Break vacation in Arizona, flew into Phoenix and drove north to explore Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Saw a lot of beautiful sights. I've been so busy lately that I still have planes grounded to Chicago and New York from previous global events, plus a bunch of layovers to cleanup. LOL Didn't have time to focus on this past easy Xian event. I'll try to do better to help keep TA1 on the leaderboard during this Phoenix event. I noticed that my global events now end at 1am on the weekend ever since the +1hr time change. It used to end at Saturday night at midnight. Now it ends Sunday morning at 1am. I don't remember PP not making the adjustment in previous years.
So I have a really weird issue. I used to have the game and then deleted. I got it again and started over. So I never get notifications from the game, in the game settings, it is set for first and last landings, but in my iPhone NC settings, PP isn't even listed. I looked over 'Included' and 'not included.' So weird.
This is true. They didn't adjust for daylight saving time. The Events end an hour later than they always did.
Hi all, I have recently gotten back into pocket planes, with my first account reaching lvl 32 before I lost everything. I am now level 30 on my current account with 18 plane slots composed of mostly Fogbuster-M's and Cyclone-M's. I am currently doing a bux sitting strategy centered around Istanbul, so far I have collected over 4,000 bux! which for me is quite the accomplishment! I may or may not have stayed up last night, and in the process accrued over 1000 bux... Anyway just wanted to introduce myself, My GameCenter name is Godzillasiplog. Feel free to add me. P.S. One of my goals is to beat the TouchArcade group in an event. After I get enough plane slots, I think we could give a run for their money haha. Regards, Godzillasiplog
That would be me! Every now and then I have enough time to fling my tiny fleet around enough to help the team although I don't have the firepower necessary to keep up with Faye. #
Has anyone had difficulty with gifting items from the MacOS version of the game to iOS recently? That used to work fine, and I have a bunch of parts on some MacOS accounts that I would like to move to iOS accounts but it doesn't seem to work anymore. The error message is "Error retrieving Game Center friends" after selecting a part to gift. It used to work fine, but I don't think it's worked since the update that introduced the Mapple to iOS and introduced the UAV. The MacOS version of PocketPlanes seems to have been removed from the AppStore so it seems like they've given up on that entirely. I accumulated a bunch of Mapple parts this way before and a decent collection of some reward pieces as well, and if there is any way to move them that would be great to know about.
I know this is an ios board, but some of us android players are also here because we like the people on the crew. I just was corresponding with the group that manages pocket planes for android users, and they are no longer supporting pocket planes - they say that the game is no longer in development, so issues will not be addressed. Are you guys on ios also having the same problem?
How did you all do for that one? I came in 8th. Thanks Bobby for the Cyclones and Eagles, they were a massive help. I haven't been playing a lot recently, so they were a cool surprise! I have spent time expanding, now with LA, NY, Paris, London, Tehran, Istanbul, and Tokyo, with Berlin Phoenix and Ceba and Kinshasa for the the Kangaroos to puddle jump. I had a hard time getting the hang of the Cyclones, they often fly at a loss, so that the Eagles and kangaroos can fly with massive profit, I nearly completely bankrupted until I just started off small with the Kangaroos, I flew one from Madrid to Tokyo and STILL made a profit, those things are awesome. Getting the hang of cyclones I think but any tips for routing? They are so heavy that puddle jumping doesn't work, and long distance flights it is not giving enough coins. Does anybody know what the prize is for Athens?
I don't see this as an IOS board! Granted a good number of the folks here, myself included are I-device users, but ultimately we all just love the game and most of the active posters here just happen to belong to TA1... But to answer your question, other than a few minor quirks that a few of us have experienced, I am not aware of any major issues. They updated our version fairly recently (February 2015 I believe), so that would lead me to believe that it is still being actively supported...
Thank you kickasslee. I am glad to hear that you guys are still supported. Niblebit doesn't do android, so a company called Mobage is responsible for the android support. Their last update was sometime in 2013, and although they had been supporting user problems, they last responded that if problems playing the game occur, because the game is no longer under development, I should try another device, or look at their other games to choose from. Made me sad.
I've found the suggestions here very helpful, thanks for all the info! I didn't realize how effective focusing on bux only can be and in fact had no idea about how the bank exchanging bux for coins could be so useful, with the quadratic growth there. One thing I'd like to know better is the overflow for coins when turning in bux via the bank. There were some posts much earlier in the thread that were helpful but it would be great to know exactly how this works before I land myself in trouble. My understanding is that if you turn in bux (or get coins in another way) that take you over 2^31 coins (about 2.14 billion) that the coin total rolls over, losing 2.14 billion. If you didn't have any coins already, and turned in about 65037, that would result in the overflow losing lots of coins. Or if you already have more coins, then the problem could arise with turning in fewer bux but you'd need to have a lot of coins for it to matter much. Is this the way it works? I'm not near the 65k bux level yet, and I'm also trying to decide when would be a good time to trade them in. On one hand, the more bux, the better the rate. On the other hand, it seems like it would be good to turn coins in to open up more slots sooner.
