I believe you still will. However, if you switch crews in the middle of an event, your jobs will reset to zero, if I remember correctly. Syncing issues can also prevent you from collecting the prize.
Any of you guys remember regarding the max Bux for cash exchange : you can't go past 2,147,000,000 sthg (2^31). The cash you already have counts or does the game take the airline value (in stats page) into account? Anyway, I'll stay shy a few tens of millions coins, I don't want my 64k and change Bux swap to get me negative cash While writing this, I decided to make an iTunes save before too in case sthg goes wrong Well 64k Bux for only 5 more slots, I really think this will be my last swap (buried in this topic there's a post of me saying the same thing on the last exchange a year back )
I wish to apologize for asking this question again but I must but how do people have over 10'000 bux ?!!! I for the life of me can barely manage to 2'00 after a what I call a frantic bux job mission and yet I see screenshots of people having 10K + after some playing ! Please share your tips ! Am I missing something ?! P.S how come certain people have their money values with commas ?! (e.g. 2,093,947 ?! Mine is 2093947) I know it's small but it's starting to drive me mad !
Time Over time, as you add more landing slots and build your network with profitable planes and route, it's easier to make bux.
I understand that but 10K !!! I in my opinion have a good fleet, the only planes I'm missing are Equinoxs and Mohawks. I have 20 slots but if I was to go for #21, my revenue would be gone by in large and I'm starting again, I can't help but think If im missing something ! what's the largest value jobs anyone has gotten ?! Mine 1991 coins for a normal job 9 for a bux job.
Yes, exactly......that's what makes this game worth it. If it were easy, I would have quit months ago. I went so deep in the hole on so many slots, that I had to look at those "free bux " ads for hours just to have enough coins to launch a plane. I finally worked myself up to 39 slots and I don't have enough for the 40th slot but the struggle to get it makes me keep coming back. Since I have all the class 3 airports, I can run a long haul 25% bonus flight that will generate either 20,000 coins or 20-30 bux if it's a bux run. The key is running straight line long hauls and a lot of time. You need to remember too that most of the people that have all that bux have been playing this game since it came out over 2 years ago. They have worked hard and put in the time to get to where they're at. I'm just grateful they are still willing to play along with those of us who have started recently. The best suggestion I can give you is look at Faye Valentines signature. I learned so much by reading those threads. What you are looking for are in those threads she listed in her signature. Bobby
Ooooh we have a stealth member of TA1 in the #1 spot. Please let us know who you are. Ok... Let's see if I can figure out how to add a photo to this post from my phone.... Having a hard time focusing on Pocket Planes lately. Got sucked into a friends vs friends trivia game called Trivia Crack. And then someone else told me about another one called QuizUp which is even better!!! They are both highly addictive even though I'm not very good at them. Funny how I need an app to point out how little I know. LOL. And I'm still busy playing Mafia Wars and suffer from an identity crisis over there. Bobby is right about there being a lot of info in this forum about Pocket Planes. Many people in this community contributed to this wealth of knowledge, just scroll back though all the older posts to find it all. Or look at one of the links in my signature below that takes you to a post that consolidates links to many of these helpful posts. Vic, I hope you didn't cash in too many Bux like I did last year and got ZERO coins out of the transaction. Nice customizations, HM.
Yup, time and a decent BUX strategy is all you need. I use 30 blimps and "BUX-sit", once all my airports are full of BUX layovers....then I'll send them home using the blimps.
So I found this post I remembered from Andrwsc back in the day about the max Bux exchange http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2621250&postcount=11911 I'm ready to do mine, I have an airline value of 38,728,055 I need to exchange 64444 Bux for 2 108 736 568 coins. It should take me 10 minutes just to reach that amount in the bank lol In case sthg goes wrong, I just made an itunes save.
Well, it really took me 10 minutes to get to 64444 Bux lol. Now I need 19024 more coins to get to the exact 2147483647 airline value, tricky
I figured you were up to something because I rarely pull ahead of you in an event. Have fun. I've got to do some simulator flying on Steam tonight so I may not be on PP unless I see our number 2 ranking drop. Bobby
This BobbyH So I managed to get to 2147483632 coins, with a fully speed upgraded Concorde still flying. To get the last 15 coins my only choice was catching flying coins on the plane screen. I did that and was ready to get back to the menu when I accidentally clicked on one more flying coin. Needless to say, my airline value was now an astonishing negative 2,147,483,000 And GC didn't register higher than 2146454012 ... Anyway, I now have 68 slots and the next one costs 446 million coins lol
To get large bux, you bux sit, but I don't and I still get a healthy 1,000-2,000 bux a day- just by making 5-9 Bux job a priority.
Even then ! I can never manage that, I used to have 1 seaters ferrying the bux jobs while the bigger planes got the coins coming in but I can never manage that kind of cash flow.
Flip your strategy. You want the bigger planes ferrying the bux. Because of the conversion factor (a single bux converts to more coins, the more bux you have), you'll make more coins converting bux than you will collecting coins. Others do it differently, I'm sure but I never think in terms of collecting coins. I just fly knowing a 25% bonus flight on a long haul will generate the most coins. I'll take bux runs even if it means losing coins on the flight because Ill make those coins, and more, on the bux conversion. Bobby
True that, always prioritize Bux jobs vs coins jobs. I know it's sometimes harsh to say goodbye to a nice 25% bonus, because it feels neat and clean. That's why you can have dedicated Bux sitters if you have enough planes. But coins are totally irrelevant once you get around 30 plane slots. And there's no way you may afford to buy the plane slots above 40 just by making coins. On my last 64444 Bux exchange, each and every ONE of the Bux was traded for 32,700 coins. My longest flying plane has an average of about 5k coins per hour for 32 days flying. And I played the game since the beginning almost 3 years ago. In its lifetime, my best plane earned about 4 million coins. That's only about 120 Bux at the exchange rate mentionned above. Or 1% of my next plane slot.
I think the light bulb just went off in my head. While I totally understand the strategy of bux sitting, I've sort of split my strategy in my zeal to keep TA1 number 2 in Global Events. I'm a latecomer to Global Events. I got to 35 or 36 slots by bux sitting but am stuck on 39 slots because I don't have enough planes to bux sit AND run a really good showing in a Global Event. You saw that in my picture where I got 25 bux in an Aeroeagle but the plane was only half full of bux. I had to launch the plane early otherwise my Mapples wouldn't have enough to keep running the event. Thanks vicsark for your explanation. I need to follow my own advice to pocketplanes1991 that time, patience, and dedicated bux sitting is my ticket to the big time Bobby
Thanks BobbyH, I really appreciate the help you've provided. I reckon I'm at that part of the game were I've done the hard word (I.e setting up the fleet and having a good steady income) and I should be aiming towards the mini personal goals, chief of which is having a large fleet ! I've been playing the game for a while although I've just joined this forum recently. I still have class 1 cities opened from previous events and some of their jobs are still boarding my cloudliners so I need to get them sorted out and then close them, although I've noticed a mini goal of mine is usually to try to be #1 of my flight crew (TA). As for the bux sitting, I'm going to need to get more info on it I'm afraid. It was only on the recent Amsterdam event that I got my head around layovers. Anyway, Thank You BobbyH, you've been a great help.
vicsark, I went back and re-read your post several years ago where you advocated the Rio/Sao <_>Istanbul <_> Seoul/Bejing routing with Sequioas. I think my bux strategy of emulating FedEx with Mexico City as the hub is why I am stuck on 40 slots and 33 airports. I have all 32 class 3 airports plus Honolulu and 39 Sequioas with 1 Aeroeagle to get into Honolulu. I can feed bux into Mexico City but, at some point, I have to launch with cheap seats on the 25% because I can't wait to hold 390 bux jobs out of 1 airport. I sort of got the idea in the last 2 events to fly bux between Lagos and Kinshasa to balance the load which is what made me go back and re-read your post in Faye's signature. I'm going to reroute my fleet and try your routing. I found I am not able to help TA1 as much as I wanted to on this event because I didn't have enough planes to bux sit and do an event at the same time. In your routing, I think I can do it. Sure wish I found this game in 2012 with the rest of you but it is fun because now I have the benefit of yours and others experience to fall back on when I get stuck today Bobby
