Disconnected and reconnected to GC but still can not see Leaderboard. Logged into PP on wife's iPad Air, IOS 7.xx, and same problem. Am running PP on iPAD 1st generation, IOS 5.xxx. Any suggestions?
General strategy I am curious as to how folks manage their games? I have nearly 70 airports open and wonder if I would be better off closing most everything except my class 3's and those smaller ones that I need for events only. I have 20 plane slots with enough class 3 planes to fill them all, again except as needed for events. I see a ton of references to picking up multiple mystery parts in events, but I have only come across 1 and wonder if it is because I have too many airports to watch. Opinions anyone?
I use only class 3 airports to parts sit. Definitely only open what you can get to in five minutes, and upgrade fully all class threes!
I just started expanding into N. America. My plan is to designate planes to certain areas. Not sure if that's better or just have them all travel between all regions. What do you guys all do?
Sneaking in to say howdy. Don't know why I'm still playing this game, but it's hard to resist flinging planes everywhere! Besides, when I see TA1 teetering dangerously near the bottom of the top 10, I feel compelled to try to keep us in the running for the best prize. Team pride, you know. (but I'm having the same leaderboard issue as others, and haven't managed to get it back yet) Too many airports! Each airport only has X number of jobs available at a time, so the more airports you have open, the longer it can take to fill your plane for a single destination. I keep 14 or 15 class 3 cities open at all times (probably too many, really) and only open other cities for an event or when I need to hop my class 1 planes from one event base city to another (and I close those hop cities when they're no longer needed). If you want to participate in team events, you'll have to either have a ton of planes and airports to cover all the regions, or get used to moving between regions. When you're first starting out, though, that gets expensive in coins and bux. On the other hand, the further your planes travel, the more they'll earn. A good starting strategy would be to open airports that allow for one or two really long routes between class 3 cities - NY to Buenos Aires works well as there are a lot of class 1/2 airports in between so you can hop your smaller planes between the big cities.
I appriciate the input... An interesting strategy and a valid option. I was asking the question as it relates to mystery parts in events. My understanding is that they generally are only available when whole planes are the top prize, but saw some post for the last event that referenced players gaining multiple parts during the event. I finished the last event in TA's top 10 with nearly 400 deliveries, yet no mystery parts. So I was curious as where my flaw was. I have closed all non class 3 airports except Arden ( for the current event) and One other to get class 1 planes from East to West as needed, but I own all other class three airports which is a lot to manage. I also don't know why I keep playing either, but I find myself drawn to the simplicity of it versus the stresses of everyday life reality, that and I also want to help the team achieve top status levels... I wish they would make Mapples available to all platforms though, a fleet of those would make these class one events much easier to deliver too...
Hi coastcat! Thank you for the advice. I ended up just dedicating planes for certain regions. It has helped keep my stats fairly level (rev/miles/flights); I even took some advice you had for another poster (closing airports) for the current event. Last time, I barely made 50, now I'm way beyond that.
Yay!! I wouldn't have known if I didn't see this because I had stopped checking leaderboard. Now I can see who I'm chasing up the leaderboard. I just started the event. Talk about a late start, with 20 hrs left on Kansas. LOL I see some familiar names on the leaderboard: sdo, igerera, coastcat, warbird, ktc, bervie. Who are the four unknown/blank spots?
I got a late start myself, only managed around 250 deliveries for KC... Have a pretty busy next few days as well, so likely won't get much more than that for this event either, but I will do what I can...going to try Coastcat's advice and shutter a good chunk of my airports and see what happens...
Anyone want to keep playing as a team in a new NimbleBit game? I started a Toucharcade1 players club in Tiny Tower vegas. Not sure how it works yet lol My friend code there is 2HJH Feel free to join
I just downloaded that game. Not sure how the challenges work but it looks like they're trying to limit the big teams by only paying the top thirty members of each team the full prize. I'm guessing the current challenge is get chips at snorkel slots. Since I don't have that floor I may be SOL. Of course I could be wrong on all accounts. I think my code is 444B.
I hadn't heard of this one. Off to search for it in the App Store. Dunno when I'll have time for it. I'm still trying to start the new Pocket Planes event. None of my class 1 planes have taken off for Reykjavik yet. I think I'm 5K1K
Yep, they're trying to encourage smaller crews. You'll have a better reward finishing #30 in the #100 crew than #31 in the #1 crew. Allthough they might tune it. The nice idea they had, is that you may play your friends casino games in their towers. So just add Lorena who has the snorkeling stuff and go play there You keep your gains obviously, and it counts in the crew total. It also tips her 1 chip (1 max per day) Not sure the competition will be interesting though, as it'mostly luck and firepower.
I never got into Pocket Planes (or Pocket Trains) back in the day, so now that it's over two years old and most people have moved on, I'm going to randomly give it another try. (I blame Faye shilling it at the bottom of her topics in the Tiny Tower Vegas forum.) Did Pocket Trains never really "take off" (pun wasn't really intentional, but yeah) like Planes did?
You guys seemed so nice in the ttv forum and I'm addicted to nimble bit again so I'm going to re-download pocket planes. I'm a little worried about the almost 2,000 page count forum. I'll start reading backwards but could anyone copy paste some tips/info on how to enjoy the game? I remember liking it the second time I installed it, but then hearthstone distracted me. Heyyyyyyy! Edit: looks like I don't have any pocket plane data in the cloud I started in Europe. Thinking about it I remember playing trains more than planes so I'm not too surprised.
Heh, I'm not alone. Definitely jumping from #TouchArcade to #TouchArcade1 in TTV once another twelve hours pass. That'll be a lot more fun than having a friend list full of unknown tippers like I do now. ... which has nothing to do with Pocket Planes, so yeah, I'm derailing the topic (which might make sense if I was in the Pocket Trains forum). (Just wish I could have TTV open at the same time I was tweaking around with Planes or Trains.)
Hey guys Faye Valentine has the links for a google spreadsheet in her signature. In there you'll find useful tips and strategies (basic to advanced), as well as a roster of PP TA1 players, and the final standings of almost a full year of global events If you got questions or need some help starting over, a lot of veteran TA1 players come by in here still regularly, even if most don't play PP much anymore.
