I've got a lot of Class 2 cities because I've still got twin Pearjet and Aeroeagle-Ms I'm committed to getting more than their fair share of value since they're heavily upgraded (which is what has put me in such a good position at present). Once I get the access to Cyclones, which are better stock than both the Pearjet and Aeroeagle are upgraded, I won't care that brooming them to the hangar destroys their upgrades. I've also got more than a fair share of Class 1 cities which will probably be the first to go before I close the blue, mostly because I'm getting tired of occasionally having a brain fart and filling a Class 2 plane with jobs for a Class 1 city. Right now both black AND blue are serving as feeder cities into my hubs, which I'm using the Mapples (three in North America, two in South, three in Europe/Middle East) extensively with for cheap short-term profit and low-level bux farming. It also helps to have the Mapples roaming around finding filler jobs that my jets and two Sequoia-Ms need to complete their set, but I'm also starting to use the jets in certain spots to ferry jobs more quickly, even though it can cost ~500-900 per use, which gets paid for by the completed set. I am getting ready to build the Silk Road to Asia, though. Right now I've got an 'efficient-enough' route from BA/Sao/Rio through Lagos and Kinshasa up to Tehran. I've been ferrying Tehran jobs from Sao Paolo to Rio via the two Mapples I have in South America (there are *always* tons of Tehran jobs to shuttle back and forth to stack layovers so each Sequoia lands to a full load, and the flight between both cities takes only 2m) and cleaning up that way, just earning coins until I can pick up the Class 3 cluster on the Indian subcontinent. Then, of course, picking up the Chinese/Korean Class 3s when I get to the Cyclone. Like you suggested, I think I'm going to skip the Tetras altogether. I've already got parts for another two Sequoia-Ms and I'm now sitting on something like 1750 bux even after acquiring parts for four of the things. I'm not hurting for Class 3 airports (I think I have 11 at present), I just don't really have the 'ideal' ones yet. But so long as I keep up what I'm doing, I'll get them all sorted eventually. And yeah, I know the more 'small' airports I have, the more it muddles the list. I think I've leveled so damned much in my first week playing that I've had to adapt more quickly.
Please review my strategy! Hi everyone... I'm new here, but have been playing Pocket Planes for several weeks now. I'm just looking for a bit of help with my strategy, if anyone can give me any tips how to fine-tune it or anything. I have 3 Aeroeagles and 5 Birchcraft-P planes. My airports are lined up from Los Angeles-NY-London-Paris-Istanbul-Delhi-Xian-Seoul-Tokyo. So what I'm doing right now is using New York as a layover hub for passengers going to SE Asia. The 3 Aeroeagles collect the passengers from NY and fly them to their destinations for the 25% bonus (Xian, Seoul, Tokyo). After that, they grab any USA passengers they can from the city they arrived in and fly to London, which is my layover hub for passengers going to the US airports. Each Aeroeagle loads up in London for either NY or LA to get the 25% bonus and flies to their destination, then repeats the cycle. I'm using the Birchcrafts to fill up the London hub with passengers from SE Asia going to USA, with 1 Birchcraft filling up the NY hub from Los Angeles. Is this a good enough method for a low-level player like me, or could I do better? I am thinking of transporting passengers in between the NY-London hubs, leaving the Birchcraft-Ps to take them to their final destinations. Would that be better? Any tips would be really appreciated, thanks!
Any chance of a Music Festival-related event in Copenhagen from tomorrow (for no reason other than the Danish capital hosting the Eurovision Song Contest this week)? We can't go on previous years, as it has been hosted in cities that aren't in the game (Baku and Malmo) since the game started. And they've got form for European events (they had a Mothers Day event in Manchester at the time we celebrate it).
I'm done with Monrovia. By the time I get all the layovers delivered I should have just over 2k jobs. That should put me in third place when the event is over. Let's hope for a full plane event next, Mapples would breath new life into the game in my opinion. I know I was about done with this game when I bought my MacBook and now I have 48 Mapples in my fleet and I have gifted at least twenty. I know for places like Monrovia Sea Knights and Roos are just as good but you get an Easter Island or something and nothing beats a Mapple. If everyone had the same access that I do to this outstanding class one plane the numbers could only go up. Just my opinion.
So I'm guessing advertising is a way to 'cheat' and make a particular destination more popular? I only ask because I'm trying to get the Punta Arenas achievement out of the way, and only using two Mapples to do it is a bit painful. Also, I cannot WAIT to get rid of these Pearjets. Sure, they're my fastest planes, but that 2C/3P split is annoying, and the stock Cyclones perform better. I think I'll keep my Aeroeagles, though - start using them as internationally-capable jet-powered Mapples to augment the Mapples. Up to 2495 bux now, and that's after collecting the parts for a Tetra-M just to have it in reserve. =/
Advertising is NOT cheating. All of us (most of us) who rack up big numbers during the world events advertise during the whole event. I for one advertise twice a day when I'm trying to make a number, once when I get to work at 5:00AM and then again at 2:30PM when I get off. This takes me to 10:30PM and I'm allready long in bed.
I didn't mean it as cheating-cheating, that's why I used the quotation marks. If anything, it makes me more proud of getting ninth place in Athens a week ago, because I didn't use anything.
gamecenter I just joined TouchArcade's flightcrew, i came from Polygon. Please add me on gc: Joris+ Im currently lvl 18 with 11 planes.
Unox, I was running with Polygon before I signed on with Toucharcade1. I think they'd have better retention if they had a forum thread somewhere... It's pretty surprising, how hard it is to find any sort of social connection with this game, or even what the flight crew names are!
Yay - finally hit Level 26...now to get the parts for two Cyclone-Ms so I can retire my Pearjets. ...plus start to collect more Aeroeagle-Ms to start to replace/augment my Mapples. I figure two Mapples per region (Europe/Middle East, US/Canada, South America, and Asia) would be enough, with Aeroeagles crossing between adjacent regions while the Sequoias and Cyclones do the intercontinental stuff. Also, I've made more than 1100 bux since I last listed my total ~48 hours ago. EDIT: So I'm guessing the 20k profit flight achievement can only be done using a max-weight-reduction Cloudliner flight from Tokyo to LA?
The easiest way is to load up any big plane (I used sequoias), in LA with Tokyo jobs and only fly it to Seoul. After it lands make the short hop to Tokyo. You will get LA-TOK money but only pay Seoul-Tokyo price.
Bummin'... I was hoping to have a few names show up in my Leaderboard by now. I'm 4th in TOUCHARCADE1 and have no idea who my company is!
You have to add people to your Game center friends. Post your GC here or add the names you see in the latest top 10 screenshots posted by Faye a few days ago. Please mention TA1 in your invite (my Gc : Vic Sark) there is a huge list of TA1 crew in the spreadsheet you may find in my signature or Faye's. Most of us don't play regularly though.
Trick is, I'm on Android, so Game Center isn't exactly friendly. I can connect through Mobage, though, I guess? I've gone through the spreadsheet, and none of the Game Center names come up in the Android version of Game Center. Gah!!
There are a quite a few android players, you should find some mobage accounts in the spreadsheet. Unfortunately, you can't see iOS players names, and we can't see yours either.
Yeh, I searched them all up... I found several, but my friend requests remain unanswered. Alas. Competing in anonymity is no fun! I'll have to see if there's a way to bridge to Game Center or something.
Yes i know right! Nimblebit could build a community around games like these and add some more flightcrew features..
I found 'em, but I haven't heard back from any friend requests. I've got Pocket Planes and TA1 listed in my profile. Does anyone know if there's a better way to find layovers than to make sure all planes are empty and look into each airport individually? After these missions, I always wind up with a few stragglers.
