Yeah, I didn't even try Mumbai since I don't even have a single Class 3 plane yet. I know I don't NEED one to fly into Mumbai, but somehow I think 9x Mapple X10s, 2x Pearjet-M, and 2x Aeroeagle-M will compete with people with 20+ planes and tons of Cloudliner-Ms. =/ I just have to be happy that I came in 9th in Athens. Also, on that note, I'm about to unlock Sequoias - I'm thinking to save bux I should only upgrade speed and range, since I've heard they're rather cheap to run, and fully upgraded speed-wise they're only 1mph slower than an Aeroeagle's stock speed. Thoughts?
Have their been any cool updates (new planes, achievements, etc.) in the past 6-8 months? I hope so, as I'd love an excuse to get back in to this.
You are doing great for your level & resources. I envy you with all your Mapples. I play on iPhone and can't buy those. I do have a few, however I should also mention that I have not used them in recent class 1 global events. Have been prefering Sea Knights and Kangaroos for those. I used the Fogbuster for a very brief period. Completely skipped the Tetras. I love those "slow and steady" workhorse Sequoias and still have 3 of them in active use (and also one c130 which is about equivalent to a Sequoia). I think all are fully upgraded. Upgrading is less of an issue later in the game when you accumulate more Bux. Check out one of the links in my signature to tips/resources, there should be one about Bux Sitting. It is worth spending some time to focus on this, collect Bux and then cash in for coins.
Yeah, I'm currently sitting on 1351 bux and 802k in coin and I've been heavily prioritizing bux jobs, even at a small to moderate loss in profit. I figure as soon as I hit Level 22 I'll buy two more slots, then piece together two Sequoias and upgrade them. I've unlocked seven Class 3 airports and I'll probably buy Tehran because I've got Istanbul unlocked and Baghdad/Riyadh to feed jobs into both using Mapples and my Class 2 jets when they terminate their runs at the latter two mentioned airports. I can imagine LA to Tehran would probably be 1300-1400 per job, and I figure I'll start using NY/Chicago and Paris/London as way-stations for filler/bux jobs for the Sequoias while continuing to use Philly, Boston, DC, Detroit, and Atlanta for Riyadh/Baghdad jobs. Once I make enough off of that admittedly inefficient route I'll probably expand to do the South America > Asia thing. I was actually surprised I had access to the Mapples as well, as I'm playing on Android, and I thought they were iOS-exclusive. It certainly appears that the Toucharcade is the one to join, since it's consistently getting #1 in everything. Also kinda bummed I can't do the S&R quest this time around - it's just too far out of my way to even consider setting up a 'sister' airline. If it were for the Concorde or something I'd suffer for it, but seeing as I've got a ton of Mapples, getting a Huey locked down really isn't my priority right now. Might just stick with range, then. vOv
I knew 4000+ wouldn't be nearly enough! And I was running 35 Sequoias! what did you use for Mumbai? By the way, most of my Sequoias are only upgraded for range (for runs like London to Rio or Lagos to Mexico City).
I finished 4th. Flew when I had time. Been busy at work. I used 2 x Cyclone-P 2 x Cyclone-C 6 x Cyclone-M Flying from London, Paris, Lagos, Kinshasa, Manilla and Delhi. (I'm kind of bux sitting again so I used the same airports)
Asuncion Woohoo! I'm finally able to to connect from computer and upload screenshots (I had been checking in from iPhone during the past couple of weeks). Here are the screenshots from Asuncion taken at 10 minutes (April 16, 2014):
Nuuk Here are the results from Nuuk taken at 11 min (April 19, 2014). As you can see, Jmac was a busy boy!!!
Prague Screenshot of the Prague event taken at 7 min (April 23, 2014). Harmoniamundi earned the top spot with a wide margin.
Athens Here are the results from the Athens event taken at 4 min (April 26, 2014) I wasn't able to catch up with Jmac... maybe next time.
Mumbai Here are the results from the Mumbai event taken at 8 min (April 30, 2014) I woke up and discovered Andrew shot up to the top overnight. I was behind by over a thousand, it didn't look hopeful and wasn't sure if I'd be able to catch up during the last few hours ... fling fling fling ... just barely made it...
It's very interesting looking at all these screenshots. I just noticed that I have gained 11,604 Bux over 14 days. That's 829 Bux per day. It's not a super high growth rate; I'm not actively Bux sitting. This is just gained through normal game play, picking up Bux jobs as I run into them.
{waving} Hi CoastCat! It's nice to see familiar faces on the leaderboard. I wish you the best of luck on your new job!!!! I don't have as much time to play PP as I used to, but it's still fun, especially ever since I upgraded to iPhone 5 and I'm no longer playing in "slow motion". Sadly, no. And it seems unlikely. Well hello there stranger!!! I see you're the one to chase up the leaderboard for Palu ... 1379 jobs already?! I just got started and have sent 8 Sea Knights on their way ... it'll be a long time before I catch up to you.
London/Paris is the ideal Bux sitting pair. I like to keep a few airports at the far ends to pick up higher value Bux jobs (Los Angeles, Tokyo). You can pick up plenty of higher Bux jobs on the Asian end of the map, it is so easy to move them to nearby cities for holding until you're ready to deliver them. I tend to prioritize picking up a Bux job, even if it means sacrificing a full load of jobs going to the same destiation. Bux is worth more than the coin bonus. You seem to have a lot of Class 2/blue cities. I think would be better to have more Class 3/red cities because you can upgrade them and they'll give you a larger list of jobs to choose from, making it much easier to fill up your planes. It'll be really nice when you are able to get Cyclones. They can make the hop from Istanbul/Cairo to New York. (And also one hop from Istanbul/Cairo to Seoul)
I wasn't sure if I could catch up, but I kept flinging during the last few hours and somehow managed it. I was really surprised! This is what I was using: 8 Cloudliners 31 Cyclones I was bringing in Mumbai jobs from all over the map, from as far away as Los Angeles and Lima. My cities: Los Angeles Chicago New York Lima Buenos Aires Sao Paulo Rio Kinshasa Cairo London Paris Moscow Istanbul Tehran Mumbai Bangalore Guangzhou Shanghai Seoul Tokyo Jakarta OMG that's 21 cities!
I've got a lot of Class 2 cities because I've still got twin Pearjet and Aeroeagle-Ms I'm committed to getting more than their fair share of value since they're heavily upgraded (which is what has put me in such a good position at present). Once I get the access to Cyclones, which are better stock than both the Pearjet and Aeroeagle are upgraded, I won't care that brooming them to the hangar destroys their upgrades. I've also got more than a fair share of Class 1 cities which will probably be the first to go before I close the blue, mostly because I'm getting tired of occasionally having a brain fart and filling a Class 2 plane with jobs for a Class 1 city. Right now both black AND blue are serving as feeder cities into my hubs, which I'm using the Mapples (three in North America, two in South, three in Europe/Middle East) extensively with for cheap short-term profit and low-level bux farming. It also helps to have the Mapples roaming around finding filler jobs that my jets and two Sequoia-Ms need to complete their set, but I'm also starting to use the jets in certain spots to ferry jobs more quickly, even though it can cost ~500-900 per use, which gets paid for by the completed set. I am getting ready to build the Silk Road to Asia, though. Right now I've got an 'efficient-enough' route from BA/Sao/Rio through Lagos and Kinshasa up to Tehran. I've been ferrying Tehran jobs from Sao Paolo to Rio via the two Mapples I have in South America (there are *always* tons of Tehran jobs to shuttle back and forth to stack layovers so each Sequoia lands to a full load, and the flight between both cities takes only 2m) and cleaning up that way, just earning coins until I can pick up the Class 3 cluster on the Indian subcontinent. Then, of course, picking up the Chinese/Korean Class 3s when I get to the Cyclone. Like you suggested, I think I'm going to skip the Tetras altogether. I've already got parts for another two Sequoia-Ms and I'm now sitting on something like 1750 bux even after acquiring parts for four of the things. I'm not hurting for Class 3 airports (I think I have 11 at present), I just don't really have the 'ideal' ones yet. But so long as I keep up what I'm doing, I'll get them all sorted eventually. And yeah, I know the more 'small' airports I have, the more it muddles the list. I think I've leveled so damned much in my first week playing that I've had to adapt more quickly.
