Thanks! That explains why I don't understand. I didn't participate in that event last year because I didn't understand it then either. No matter.
Just getting back in to this one, took about 30 minutes to remember what i was up to and what does what but am good to go. Question : I'm rank 20 in the toucharcade crew for the current event, and am ready to move on from it heh. Do I need to keep nuuk open until the event ends or will it remember my progress even if i shut the airport down?
I hope you are feeling better. I'm enjoying the game but haven't had as much time to devote to it as before. Been on vacation and spent most of my time sightseeing. I didn't really get started on the Nuuk event until ~14 hours before the event ended, when I flew from Philly to SF.. I got a lot of flinging done during the flight. So far, TA1 is in 2nd place for the current Prague event.
I don't think I have ever closed the airport before the event ended so I'm not sure. I do know that you need to remain in the crew to receive your global event prize. So don't switch crews until after you have received it.
Nuuk global event Leaderboard at 11 min before end: 1. 3328 Jmac 2. 941 Xgarriga 3. 908 Faye 4. 792 Coastcat 5. 688 KTC 6. 396 Jcruz 7. 379 Haemoniamundi 8. 240 Igerera 9. 235 Bervie 10. 199 Gus Jmac was quite busy!
I'm just starting the Prague event. Will probably be able to get in the top ten, but not much more. I finally replaced my VERY balky iPad two with an iPad Air on Saturday. When I tried to transfer all my stuff I found every game was on there but reset. Ok, don't panic, try again again same result. I finally remembered that I gave my old device a different name so the IT guys at work will have a harder time finding out that I'm using the company internet for personal stuff (I gave it the name of one of the big bosses). Now I have to rename this one. I wonder if BObama's iPad is taken. I was fine when I discovered the device name on my Mac and backed up from there. Looking forward to an event where my tablet doesn't crash every ten flights.
I've been playing for a day and I'm already #15 on the Prague event. I have a feeling that has something to do with people dogpiling the Nuuk event. Of course, I'm just using Mapple Pros. And yes, I'm enrolled in TA's flight crew. I'm actually kicking myself for not starting sooner. I'd been told Pocket Trains was better, but I like the freeform nature of Planes better. No playing Tetris with the tracks, and it *seems* the planes never break down (or have mine just not flown long enough)?
I'm using mostly Mapples myself, but I got a few sequoias to bring jobs from Chicago and New York to Paris and London. After I finished Nuuk, I did a couple of personal events that were in NA yesterday just to start getting them out of the way. I will probably send between 1000 and 2000 jobs to Prague and then call it quits. BTW since we are in different flight crews we will not see each other's progress (I'm in TA1). Let me know where you end up.
I've only got ~250 jobs done thus far into Prague, so I know I'll qualify for something, but I know getting first place with only nine aircraft is probably a pipe dream (I'm only rank 12 and have been playing less than a day). I've got London unlocked and at the moment I'm just unlocking Class 2 airports so I can start feeding in more Birchcraft Ms using Berlin as a central nexus. Seeing as you can hit Saudi Arabia/Baghdad and Khartoum from Berlin with an unupgraded Birch, I'd say it's a good way to save up to get a NY/London flight going - since I kind of want to avoid having to use Reykjavik and Nuuk altogether since I'm making good enough money now.
Did you manage to restore everything? I bet it plays a lot nicer on the new iPad. I was thrilled when I switched from my 3.5 yr old iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5 cuz Pocket Planes was much faster and without freezing up or quitting out of the game.
Planes don't break down in Pocket Planes. But unlike Pocket Trains, flying a plane costs money (whereas sending a train to another city is free - until it breaks down!).
Yes I was finally able to do a complete restore, thanks for asking. And you're right I cannot believe how fast the game plays now. For the next event I might even try to see just what I can do if I concentrate. The thing I like best though is the voice recognition since I am a terrible typist.
I have played this game on literally every apple device imaginable...the air is the only device that has never quit on me when playing this game! The iPad mini does pretty good too, but the air can handle this game well. congrats on the restore! Wish PP had as good ( and immediate) sync capability as PT or DZ!
Okay it's been six hours, let's get an event going. I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with my new iPad.
You can close the airport at any time during the event and will still get credit for your deliveries. In fact, if you send your planes on a round-trip to an airport (like NYC->Goose Bay->Nuuk->Goose Bay->NYC), you can shut down all the airports except the final destination one and still get credit for completing the deliveries. Yes, I'm still playing PP and still gunning for top 10 most of the time (have to help TA1 stay high on the leaderboard for each event, you know). Ironically I don't have as much time to play due to my new job at a leading aerospace company! Naturally I've got plenty of free time tonight but no event...
Came in 15th in the Prague event. Not bad for only 48h playing, I think. Also, I'm now at Level 17 with 12 planes, all Mapple Pros except for twin Pearjet-Ms and Aeroeagle-Ms. I've also started stockpiling 900-1k+ jobs and bux on the East Coast of the US to ferry across the Atlantic with the jets. My Pearjets are fully upgraded, while I just went with max range and max weight reduction on the Aeroeagles, since they just need to be faster than the Birchcrafts they replaced. vOv Also just started like gangbusters on the Athens event. And yeah, I know to skip the Fogbuster and wait for the Sequoia. At the moment I've got a pretty lucrative chain going. I fill up Washington, Philly, New York, and Boston with Baghdad and Riyadh jobs, then position all four of my jets to do giant clearing runs using Madrid as a midpoint. I'm thinking about adding Tehran, but I'm afraid it'll just jumble the amount of 1k jobs I ferry to the East Coast hubs from Atlanta and Toronto. And am I the only one who thinks that the Tetra really should be an advanced Class 2 plane? It's high enough in rank, and it's tinier than the other C3s despite having twin decks. To wit, an advanced Class 1 plane (more so than the Mapple X10) would be nice as well. It just seems limiting that the ultimate goal is getting 747s, when it should be getting planes that are designed to ferry larger quantities of items and bitizens to smaller destinations.
