Added you on GC so I can send you a few planes. Do you only have class 1 cities or do you have class 3 as well? Can send you sequoias too.
I really hope not. In fact I'm still crossing my fingers for a pocket planes 2 someday perhaps combining some of the new elements from trains with the old elements of planes that worked. For me I'm enjoying playing both at the same time. When my trains run out of fuel I switch over to planes for a bit. I think both games have strengths and weaknesses. I do wish they would have kept a few features in trains but I understand why they didn't. For example, I really miss job refresh and being able to see a spawned job by any train ( right now jobs are train specific unless its a layover) I also miss details like weather and day night cycles. Small things I know, but they add to the immersion. Maybe someday they will come out with a planes/trains/ships game. Would be neat to send cargo to the coast on a train and then ship it overseas via a big freighter boat. Could even throw tractor trailers etc in there for more variety. Oh well, one can wish
The planes/trains/ships is a micro management dream lol We could discuss a bit about the PT/PP differences here and what we think of them, as the PT thread is a bit crowded with parts begging and all Actually, after a few hours playing PT, I find that the no job refresh is a nice touch. It removes a "stressful" element, the 5 min timer, and the possibility to farm Bux with Bux sitters. It works well with the heavyly layover focused map. playing PT requires more "thinking", but maybe it's just me getting used to it, or being in the lower levels. I like the heavy micro management for now. They cleverly reinvented the game with the one train per track feature, otherwise it would have been the same as PP with a different packaging. It's strange that they killed so many features though : the bitbook, the global events, the trainpedia, the plane stats and so on. PT feels a bit dumbed down from PP, as far as the features go. Maybe they rushed the launch for the new iPhone? Or as the graphic assets are way superior and take more memory, they didn't want to get over the (former) 50Mb over the air download and had to cut features? So what do you PP professional players think of PT? Edit : PP update fixing the sync/gifting bug Yay
Haven't decided if I like it because it's new or if I just like it... The only reason I continued to play PP was the social aspect. Before I started TA1 I got to about level 35 and would start my game over... But then I started TA1 and the mofos and I kept my airline going and got to 50 plane slots and level 55. I'm afraid PT will have a shorter life. But things can change. I'm a huge fan of trains though.. This game even made me do a little reading on the BNSF website to find out what kind of cash locomotive engineers make! Haha
A lot of good points and some things I didn't consider. I also agree a combined game would me a micro dream, I hope they consider something like it someday! Also to the folks gifting to me, is it any different on game center or do I still get a notification upon logging in? Thanks!
I like the changes in PT but am baffled by the omissions - most notably the global events. There is no sense of competition. What's the objective of PT? Get all the trains? Then what? Build the best railroad? How can I show it off? By delivering 50 jobs every 24 hours? For now, I'm sticking with PP and will pick up PT as a distraction. If global events are added and a TA1 crew is possible, all bets are off. Currently, our PP crew is in third place, and a meager 5 jobs will get you in our top ten.
I agree with the Planes/trains/boats idea, I don't know how it would work, but it would be really neat. I might give it one last go to crack the top ten in the next class 3 event.
Flysher, You're welcome, just trying to help others out. If you would like anything else let me know.
Just started playing and willing to accept anyone who might have stuff they no longer need that wouldn't mind helping out a newb. GameCenter is DruciferBriggs
Wow thanks for the quick reply. I'm not fussy anything is a nice gift. Whatever you think a new player might like or benefit from.
You're lucky I'm still awake. Sent a few over, hope you like them! Also, a few rare parts to start your rare plane collection because I don't think that many people are into trading in PP since PT has arrived.
Looking for Mohawk - M engine Looking for Mohawk - M engine or any spare Aeroeagle/Fogbuster parts GC = Heavenlystriker LEVEL 14 if you want to trade or just need these, just ask Parts I have navigator -p body birchcraft - pengine, m-controls - m-controls Airvan - c-body Griffon -pbody wallaby pbody kangaroo - pcontrols, pbody, c engine, c body, c controls thx for your help !
Wow thanks a ton, I truly appreciate it. This is the reason I still come to TA, most people here are always happy to lend a hand. Thanks a million to you as well and for that matter anyone who is kind enough to help out a new player.
I agree with the omission of the global events hurting the games longevity. Any game I've ever played for an extended period of time has kept me hooked because of competition within that games community. The way pocket trains is set up would make it difficult to do global events like PP did, with the one train per rail line it would make the 1000+ job wins very hard I think. I suppose it would still work, the numbers just wouldn't be as inflated. After some more time with trains last night I've decided that it's a nice change and distraction from pocket planes. At the low levels right now I'm having a lot of trouble getting new trains with the randomness of it, but I could see the layover system being quite a bit of fun once a few cities are upgraded and trains are capable of carrying 20+ cars. Right now it seems to be a battle in just fitting stuff on the 8 place cars.
Shep Visits the TA1-Ville Train Station We find Shep standing in front of a shiny, brand new Carbon Steamer, with the sounds of chugging trains and whistles blowing. Reporter: This is Shep Hancock, reporting live from the new TA1-ville Train Station where we find Miss 'Zoo. Reporter: Miss 'Zoo, congratulations to you and all the TA1-ville pilots for expanding their services and opening new railway lines. Miss 'Zoo: Thank you Shep. Reporter: It seems these fledgling railways have experienced some growing pains. What has been your biggest challenge as a new conductor? Miss 'Zoo: I'm constantly having to purchase more layover capacity at various stations. These station masters are much tougher than airport controllers. At airports, we make huge upgrades for capacity that we barely feel. With the railways, adding layovers makes a dent in the BUX department. Reporter: There are times I've seen trains sitting, waiting to leave the station, can you explain what's going on there? Miss 'Zoo: They could be waiting for a passenger or cargo to come in from another line. Most likely though, they are refueling. Unlike planes, that are magically refueled, trains are either manually refueled, which requires BUX, or they need to sit and wait their turn at getting refueled. Reporter: How is that going to affect you, as a conductor? Miss 'Zoo: You know me Shep chuckles. I need to keep busy! As soon as I can, I'll be expanding my railways. With more trains to control, there's less to worry about when one is refueling. Reporter: And, what about Nalazoo Airlines? What's going to happen with that? Miss 'Zoo: Planes were my first love and will always hold a place in my heart. You'll find me bouncing back and forth between the train station and the airport, especially since there's no competitive side to the trains right now, other than expansion and sharing our layouts. A long whistle blows and we see Penguin wave as his train heads off to Africa. Miss 'Zoo: I need to run, the TA1-ville fleet has already moved back to Alaska and my little planes are stuck in Munich! Reporter: Thank you Miss 'Zoo. Well, there you have it, this is Shep Hancock from the TA1-ville Train Station. Miss 'Zoo heads toward the station. Shep quickly hands his microphone to the cameraman and catches up with Miss 'Zoo. Miss 'Zoo: Did you have lunch yet? Shep: No. Miss 'Zoo: I know this great little saloon over on Main Street. Shep: I have a few things to wrap up here, let's say I meet you there at noon? Miss 'Zoo: Sounds like a plan. I hear Penguin has added some new items to the menu, something about a Bluebell Pie.
