I just don't have the desire to fling all day that I used to have... I did this London event with 1 Seqouia in Paris. One plane. That's it.
JMAC, thank you for figuring out the numbers. Along the way, I've done a few BUX exchanges and increased my airline to 51 slots, where it currently sits. Additionally, I closed a lot of airports. When I first started playing, I thought the goal was to open all the airports...LOL. Then, after reading tips & tricks from others, I realized I needed to close excess Class 1 & 2 airports. That was an undertaking to clear up all the BUX layovers I had scattered everywhere. Thought I'd share my strategy... I read through Popehatz and MindTornado's reports of how they had great results in a Class 3 event and I was finally ble to fill all my slots with a mix of Cloudliners, Cyclones and Sequoias plus 2 Aeroeagles. My Class 3 cities open: London (event), Paris, Moscow, Istanbul, Cairo and New York. The second day, I added in Tehran. I started with a few planes in each city and kept adding planes as they left, this was a random way of figuring out which city was going to generate the most jobs. No rhyme or reason or strategy. I figured if I had a backlog, I could reassign planes. Early on my planes were a variety of colors with their initial or modified paint jobs. I quickly realized that using P / C planes I needed to reprint my planes to make sense for loading. Plane Set Up: New York - passenger planes red, cargo blue, mixed white with red accents 3 Cloudliner P 3 Cloudliner C 3 Cyclone P 3 Clyclone C 2 Cyclone M Moscow - passenger planes peach, cargo acorn brown, mixed white with acorn brown accents 2 Cloudliner P 2 Cloudliner C 3 Cyclone M Istanbul - passenger planes gold, cargo planes fern, mixed white with fern accents 3 Cyclone P 2 Cyclone C 1 Sequoia C 2 Cyclone M Cairo - passenger planes orchid, cargo planes lime, mixed white with orchid accents 3 Cloudliner P 4 Cloudliner C 1 Cyclone P 1 Cyclone M 1 Cyclone M Tehran - assorted colors 8 Sequoia M 1 Cyclone M Paris 1 Cyclone M - bright pink 1 Aeroeagle P 1 Aeroeagle C Loading - I only use my pointer finger to scroll & load, never got the hang of using my thumbs. This means I'm a bit slower at loading. At each job refresh, I'd start at the top and work my way through the cities. Load a P, load a C, next city. If a plane was filled (both BUX for other cities and event jobs), it left. I checked how many event jobs were left and chose an M or P / C plane as appropriate. Planes with 25% bonus made round trips. The only planes that went with partial loads were those out of Paris. As I got into a rhythm, I opened Hammerfest. i initially tried loading with this method, but found I couldn't get through the whole set of P / C planes. Then it hit me, load as I had been for the initial part of the cycle, then when I opened or closed Hammerfest, only load the M planes! These had been originally colored to match the P / C equivalents. To make them easier to find, I repainted them predominantly white. I only used the Class 1 force refresh when I needed to leap frog MindTornado and toward the end when I saw that I'd be able to hit the 15k mark. How long did this take? Wednesday - flew planes while on a plane from Tucson to Houston, during 2 hour layover & from Houston to Philly. Thursday - flew planes off & on while running errands...nothing like getting home from vacation Friday - flew the most as I knew I had my nephew's engagement party on Saturday and tried to get a decent lead. This was probably 8 hours or longer. Saturday - sent a few planes in the morning, a handful or two when I got home, and consistently from about 10:30pm until the event finished. Previous event screenshot showed me at 60,014,163 coins and 56,649 BUX. At the close of London, I ended up with 57,863,718 coins and 57,373 BUX. Coin loss of 2M+ certainly not sustainable, unless you have a large bankroll or BUX that you can exchange. Gained 724 BUX. I did use some BUX for boosting planes back to Tehran, as that city always seemed short of planes.
I feel the same, lost interest like many others have. I think the stats Jmac posted pretty much supports this. I flung a bit on and off. Didn't actually put my mind to it until Saturday while doing a Sopranos marathon, finally finished the series. It helps when the Little One spends the weekend with the grandparents. I don't even bother to rearrange or close down most of my airports for these events anymore, still keeping around 15 to 18 airports open. Very interesting. Thanks for taking the time to post this comparison.
News about the New Trains Ian Marsh (eeen) posted on Twitter that the new PT will be available on 9/26 on iOS and Android
+1 Burnout is a real issue with a redundant game especially in the events. I worry I will burnout quickly switching to a similar game like pocket trains
I have as well (hence why I mentioned that I haven't played it since July) - and I'm wondering if the same's going to happen when I finish my Tiny Tower (and I'm on Floor 190 of 193).
My daughter plays my Tiny Tower. Have 185 floors plus 5 empty floors. I stopped playing it a long time ago. She's got a bunch of her games installed and organized into 12 different folders. She takes over after all her homework is done. Hubby recently installed Kingdom Age. I'll wake up to find him playing 2 devices simultaneously. :-/ and then he commandeers it again in the evening when he gets home. I seem to have a much smaller window to play MY games. (grumble)
Yay - They've updated Pocket Planes. But don't be expecting new planes or cities or anything like that - it's only big fixes.
From the PT thread, sounds like it will have more depth, just not sure about the team or leaderboard aspects...we may have to get creative.
My wife plays Tiny Tower on my phone too - she would stock the floors while I managed the addition of new floors and new bitizens. I finally got all of the available floors and 360 dream jobbers, so I stopped playing. I remember a few months ago, her TT stock-making would get in the way of my PP plane-flinging. Sounds like our other family members need to get their own devices! That was my reaction too: Yay a new update! Aw darn, just bug fixes...
