I haven't even started yet, but that is pretty normal for a Saturfay-to-Wednesday event. Nome ended at midnight when I should go to bed shortly afterward. I stayed up to play Mafia Wars. Just woke up and started clearing out the Nome layovers and setting up for Al Fashir. I don't usually get into full swing until Monday.
Last couple of events have been slow starters for us although this is the lowest I have seen us start for a while. Still say we will be number 2 by the end. I can't do anything really till tomorrow as i'm busy doing loads of things today.
Since the end of the Mofo updates I don't feel the challenge anymore. No insentive to waste time flinging jobs around the globe. I imagine it's the same for many others. By the way Faye, you can delete old layovers by clicking on the x on the picture of the bitizen or cargo.
Reporter: This is Shep Hancock reporting live outside the headquarters of the MOFO Statesman & Herald where a crowd has gathered for an important message. A makeshift podium has been set up...let's see who's going to talk. The camera pans the crowd...searching for signs of movement. Reporter: Oh, wait, it looks like Miss 'Zoo is going to talk. Let's listen. Miss 'Zoo cautiously steps up to the podium, her hands visibly shaking. She grabs the edges of the podium and clears her throat. Miss 'Zoo: I am deeply saddened by the mysterious disappearance of our illustrious Merlion. In Merlion's honor, the races must go on! I'm sure he would have wanted it this way. Miss 'Zoo: I would love to offer my services as the new MS&H Editor. While, I think I can bring a new twist to the newspaper, it's clear that I would need an assistant in the matters of a certain spreadsheet and something about MOFO standings & statistics. Miss 'Zoo: If you have a talent with numbers & spreadsheets...please consider coming forward to help out. Thank you. Reporter: Stay tuned as we get responses from some TA1villagers on their reaction to this exciting news. Reporter: This is Shep Hancock at the headquarters of the MOFO Statesman & Herald.
Hooray Hooray is heard from all directions. Long live TA1, Long live MS&H. And with that all the redundant pilots race off to their Mapples, Cyclones and Cloudliners...
I've continued to update the spreadsheet with event finishes (haven't gotten to filling in the numbers for Nome though). The whole scoring/math thing eludes me so I leave it to someone more skilled to tackle that.
TA1 had a great run... But it seems this iPhone game's moment in the sun has come and gone. I, like many others, wish we could return to the days where TA1 was a lively little town but I'm afraid it's all tumbleweeds around here. I'm still here and read the forums... But I have no motivation to fling planes. Pocket Trains can't come soon enough!
I'm with ya there. Can't wait for Pocket Trains. Noticed one of the pics in the PT thread shows there'll be daily events for sure. Hopefully crews too. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=139274&page=4
I hope Pocket Trains implements Pinch and Zoom. I keep trying to do that in Pocket Planes. Many of my other games are capable of this.
3:30 pm on Sunday ... Just got around to flinging my first planes toward Al Fashir. My Sea Knight pilots are back from their vacation.
I can help with the scoring and math. I'm back from my one event strike, but I couldn't fling much today as I spent 10 hours driving.
Even though I can't wait for Pocket Trains, I doubt I'll ever delete Pocket Planes. Even now I still love to play every few events. Tiny Tower and Pocket Planes are in a teeny tiny class of games I'll keep on my phone/iPad always. NimbleDevs FTW
I can see it being a game I will continue playing for a long while yet. I'm one of those people that have to get a 100% completion of a game. Also there is no announcement yet as to whether pocket trains is coming to Android (you have to think it will but nothing as yet) so I will be playing for a while yet.
Quick question about events - can you still open up airports around the events without any links to complete events? I noticed when I tried that - I got jobs that go to other airports that are nowhere near the events. I was reading some strategies but I believe they were quite old. Thanks!
We are 22K jobs out of first place... I guess more people dropped out than just those who posted. I'm going to get Zoo the stats tomorrow so hopefully the MOFO standings will be updated soon.
Sorry didn't have much time to fling planes yesterday. Thought I'd get a bunch done last night while watching TV, but got sidetracked trying to do my daily tasks in MW. I'll try to catch up a bit today.
Before I mess something up in the MOFO spreadsheet, I have a few questions for one of the veteran flingers: What was the first race of GS3? What was the first race of the Concorde? I'm going to reenter the formulas, but I'm unsure of the start events. If I count back using Icon's post (17414), I think it's the first Philly event.
I think we started counting from the 1st event listed on the spreadsheet marked as (1). Penguin reminded us that the Silver Yoke is a monthly cup and the Golden Sequoia is a quarterly 3 month cup. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2910041&postcount=17438
MOFO Quick Update After Nome There have been many "For Sale" signs lining the streets of TA1ville. With times a changing and news of a new railway system coming, some airline owners are taking this as an opportunity to relax and unwind. Others see this as an opportunity to make a move, score points and make an appearance. Welcome to all the fresh new faces! The swarm moved from the nether reaches of Norlisk, a small industrial town known for it's nickel, to the edge of the Bering Sea's gold jewel, Nome. In Norlisk, Yitz is a heavy hitter and has shown that if he puts his mind to it, he can take the podium's prestigious number 1 spot. The girls duked it out with the Sheriff. The Sheriff succumbed to their perseverance and tipped his hat their way. The Wily Whirler comes to visit. Are the days of Ottawa and this storm days of old? Or, is this wind storm gearing up to score points? We'll just have to wait and see. Further down, Harmonia has eased up while Penguin is debating the future of his airline. Gus, the Mighty Swarm Master was half-heatedly flinging planes and 4ndrew rounds out the field. 1. 4924 Yitz 2. 4344 Faye 3. 4268 Zoo 4. 3862 Vic 5. 3605 Tornado 6. 2614 Harmonia 7. 2277 Penguin 8. 2111 Unknown 9. 1366 Gus 10. 869 4ndrew With 2 distant Class 1 events in a row, the pace slowed down. 'Zoo saw this as an opportunity to gather points. Where do all the points stand? Stay tuned as our new Mind Mathematician mulls over the mind-boggling MOFO spreadsheet. Ah, I digress. 'Zoo took the podium by storm with Faye doing just over half the number of jobs. The battle was for the 3rd spot on the podium. Harmonia ended up victorious leaving the cat out in the cold. An undocumented unknown visited our sleepy town leaving another mystery in its wake. The bottom half of the field was a hotly contested race for points. It wasn't until the dust settled that we found Train, Green_Paper, 4ndrew, Gus and Ktc finishing out the field. 1. Nalazoo 4424 2. Faye 2458 3. Harmonia 1970 4. Coast at 1713 5. ? 6. Train 1365 7. Green_Paper 1148 8. 4ndrew 1109 9. Gus 1098 10. Ktc1062 This brings us to the Silver Yoke 9 standings. When the Statistical Spinner unravels the spreadsheet, we may find this to have been the final race in the Silver Yoke. Until then, I can only report the current standings. Only 3 points separate Harmonia and 'Zoo. Will 'Zoo's days at the pool, visit with the mouse and other distractions prevent her from adding another trophy to her mantle? Gus the Mighty Swarm Master continues to put up points. Could the girls be catching up? Knowing makes it easy to rest on your laurels. Not knowing means everyone needs to be on guard for a sneak attack. 1. Harmonia 66 2. Nalazoo 63 3. Gus 41 4. Ump 30 5. MindTornado 26 6. Faye 22 7. 4ndrew 22 8. Vic 21 9. Spud 16 10. ? The fleet is off now to Al Fashir for a rare auction. A race that stared off sleepy has been heating up in the final hours. And as we've grown fond of this particular closing, it will continue. Cheers! M. Or should I say. Cheers! M'Z
