Faye, I think that's Yitz. Nice job, 'Zoo. Why does the job count stop updating in the last 15 mins or so? I was racing to overcome my 900 job deficit behind Gus. I was sure I had sent enough jobs to leapfrog over him, but I still ended up 26 jobs short.
Whew! Frantic finger flinging coupled with basic BUX boosting paid off...all,the while holding my breath that the leader board would update in time. It was a nail biter...except I couldn't bite my nails as my fingers were busy flinging. Win 35 Bux delivering jobs to Las Vegas up next. That will have to wait until tomorrow...it's after 3am and time for me to go to bed. Thanks to the unknown #2 for a fun finish.
So..... who finished 11 to 17 in Bergen? These folks for sure: Ump ktc Jmac Ken Sdo Clint You came really close! I have trouble with it updating too. I had that issue yesterday, it wouldn't budge for hours and I'm like, "Come on! Update!!!" cuz I knew I delivered a boatload of jobs and the numbers should have changed. I think my internet is wanky. It drops off at times. I wish I could have devoted more time toward Bergen. My time was divided between PP and Mafia Wars. MW had a limited-time event that ended at midnight, same time as the Bergen event, so I was trying to knock that one out at the same time.
Congrats zoo on your win. I felt pretty good about #7 considering my outdated, understaffed airline Winner of the Las Vegas event I'll send them a Sea Knight. I unfortunately will not be participating in this event.
This is a pretty lazy event. I'm just sending all the LA jobs via sea knights. No feeder system or anything... And I'm 5th.
Birkebeiner MOFOs It was at the little airport of Flesland that the hard fought 8th Silver Yoke finally came to a conclusion. It was Mindtornado who cemented his long awaited victory by clinching fourth place, well ahead of the 6th needed for a win. Mindtornado joins the ranks of the Good and Great of TA1ville, people like Nokitano, our first winner, Ump, North, the Pope and the Penguin, and most of all Gus the Swarmster, the only two time winner to date. Congrats, 'Tornado, and may there be more wins to follow! Why did the Whimsy Whirler need a 6th place to win? Just in case someone like Faye or 'Zoo would claim a Norwegian victory. And this is precisely what 'Zoo did. She fought an epic battle with Yitz and claimed the top spot on the podium with 7,764 jobs, just 65 ahead of the Audacious Android. So intense was the fight that nobody else could come even close to their numbers, and it was Faye who took 3rd, almost 2,000 jobs South of the duelling duo. Congrats to all three! 'Tornado scored his fourth with 4,716 jobs, another thousand or so behind Faye. He was followed by Gus and Ina, another 500 jobs down, both around the 4,200 mark. Tater and the Penguin claimed 7th and 8th with 3,449 and 3,020; Andrew G took 9th with 2,280; and Stogey Jerry took the last point in the Cup with just over 2,000 jobs. As a result, the 8th Silver Yoke ended as follows: 1st: Mindtornado, 139 points and Champion (1st, 127); 2nd: Nalazoo, 134 (2nd, 109); 3rd: Faye, 122 (3rd, 107); 4th: Stogey Jerry, 72 (4th, 71) 5th: 4ndrew_g, 65 (5th, 63); 6th: Gus, 57 (7th, 47); 7th: Ktc, 48 (6th, 48); 8th: Ump, 47 (8th, 47); 9th: Yitz, 45 (10th, 27); 10th: Thisisina, 39 (9th, 31). Tornado grabs the Cup; 'Zoo's victory makes her the Runner Up, after a gruelling, nine events long fight with Faye, who scores an honourable third place. Congrats to all the podium winners! Cigar Lover Jerry takes 4th, Andrew 5th, and Gus shows a surprisingly strong finish, having won two places in the last two events. He hops over Ktc and Ump who finish 7th and 8th. Yitz, only two races ago in a distinctly unpromising 22nd place, finishes 9th, overtaking Ina in the last lap. And Ina brings up the rear with a still respectable 39 points. Thanks all, and see you in the next Cup! Meanwhile, the 3rd Golden Sequoia rages on, now 18 races in and 8 to go: 1st: Mindtornado, 232 (1st, 220); 2nd: Nalazoo, 218 (3rd, 193); 3rd: Faye, 209 (2nd, 194); 4th: Popehatz, 150 (4th, 150); 5th: Jmac, 130 (5th, 130); 6th: Ktc24, 113 (6th, 113); 7th: Penguin, 95 (7th, 91); 8th: Stogey Jerry, 77 (8th, 76); 9th: Andrew G, 65 (10th, 63); 10th: XGarriga, 64 (9th, 64). Mindtornado stays in the lead, but has to watch his step as 'Zoo is coming dangerously close. A 14 points gap separates the two, an amount that 'Zoo wouldn't bat an eyelash over. 'Zoo in turn is still in a closely fought duel with Faye. At the moment she has the upper hand, taking second from Faye, but only nine points separate them, and the last word hasn't been spoken about this either. The remainder of GS3 promises to be an 8-race thriller. Fourth through eighth don 't show a lot of changes, due to large numbers of points collected by Pope and Ktc earlier on, but the Penguin and Stogey Jerry are slowly closing in. Andrew overtakes Lorena aka XGarriga and now sits in 9th, with only a one point advantage over the latter. Further down Gus lurks in 11th, eyeing the 7 points gap between him and Lorena and no doubt having his designs on another Top Ten entry. Same goes for Ina, another 8 points behind the Swarmster. In 13th sits Ump, with 47 points just two more points down, and in 14th we find Yitz, yet another two points later. Plenty of scope for some changes in the second half of the GS3 rankings later on. Stay tuned! Here's the State of the Concorde League, after 70 races: 1st: Faye Valentine, 672 (1st, 657); 2nd: Gus, 583 1/3 (2nd, 573 1/3); 3rd: Nalazoo, 472 1/3 (3rd, 447 1/3); 4th: Penguin, 382 1/3 (5th, 378 1/3); 5th: North, 366 (4th, 366); 6th: Number1Ump, 335 (6th, 335); 7th: Ktc24, 299 (8th, 299); 8th: Nokitano, 287 (7th, 287); 9th: Vic, 277 (9th, 267); 10th: Snowbird, 240 (10th, 240). Very little to report here. The Top Four are busy reinforcing their leads over the rest, adding steadily to their points scores. Bergen didn't see a single point scored in the 5th through 10th places in the Concorde. As a result, changes are afoot. Snowbird's flatlining brings the Wily Whirler within a whisker from 10th: he now sits in 11th with 232 points, needing only 8 to appear in the Concorde rankings. Jmac sits in 12th, 17 points behind the 'Tornado and 25 points behind the 'Bird. He too is a contender. The rest of the up-and-comers is further down: Yitz sits in 17th with 129 points, and Stogey Jerry in 22nd with 90. They still have a shot at the Top Ten and immortality. Meanwhile, the crew has moved on to the depths of Nevada, shuttling untold amounts of prize money and spectators into the place. The Prize Fight in Casino City is the opening round of the 9th Silver Yoke. The chips are down. And remember, people: what's flown to Vegas stays in Vegas! Cheers, M.
Woohoo! Stayed in the Top Ten in the 8th Silver Yoke! Am proud to have been able to hang with the heavy hitters, particularly in this last race at Bergen. Will have to stay on the sidelines for the next Silver Yoke though, I have my final project due for my Master's degree due in one month! I'll be here cheering everybody on though.
Mo' MOFO Stats: Hall of Fame Just to break the deafening silence around here, let's have a look at some more MOFO statistics. Specifically, who are the heavy hitters, the ones that win the awards, the ones that populate TA1ville's true Hall of Fame? First, the Silver Yoke, our monthly Cup. We've had eight of these now, and they've been won by seven different persons. Add the 1st and 2nd Runners Up, and you have twelve people who've climbed a Silver Yoke podium so far. Not surprisingly, all six of the Golden Sequoia podium climbers are also among those twelve. So who ran away with the most prizes? Let's make a ranking, counting first the number of GS wins (WIN), then the number of SY wins, then the number of GS 1st Runner-Ups (RU1), then the number of SY 1st Runner-Ups and so on. This gives us the following list: 1. Gus: GS2WIN+SY3WIN+SY4WIN+SY5RU2; 2. Ump: GS1WIN+SY2WIN+SY3RU2; 3. North: SY6WIN+SY5RU1+SY2RU2; 4. Tornado: SY8WIN+SY7RU2; 5. Popehatz: SY7WIN; Penguin: SY5WIN; Nokitano: SY1WIN; 8. Faye: SY1RU1+SY3RU1+SY4RU1+SY6RU2+SY8RU2 9. Nalazoo: SY8RU1+SY4RU2; Vic: SY2RU1+SY1RU2; 11. Jmac: SY7RU1; Ktc24: SY6RU1. Top of the list is Gus, who's the one person who won two Silver Yokes, the third and the fourth one. He also took the second Golden Sequoia and took third place on one more SY podium. Ump did the same but minus one SY victory, so he gets second place. Third and fourth are North and 'Tornado; North with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd; and 'Tornado with a 1st and 3rd only; all of this in various Silver Yokes. Fifth place is shared by three people, each with one win: the Pope, the Penguin, and Nokitano. In 8th place we find the person with the largest number of podium places: Faye. She's collected no fewer than three 2nds and two 3rds, all in the Silver Yokes. If she wins just one Yoke, she'd jump immediately to third after Ump. Honourable mention goes to 'Zoo and Vic, who each have a 2nd and a 3rd; and Jmac and Ktc, who've each scored one 2nd place. Next, the Heroes. Just to remind you, topping 10,000 jobs in a Class 3 event qualifies you as a Hero; doing it in a Class 2 makes you a Superhero; and if you pull it off in a Class 1 event, you become a Superduperhero. On top of that we upgrade your title if you break the 25,000 limit. So topping 25k in a Class 3 makes you a Superhero; and in a Class 2 that makes for Superduperherohood. Topping 25k in a Class 1? Don't ask. We at the M S & H personally think that would qualify you as a CN (Certified Nutcase). Anyway, who are these people? We've had 13 Hero results so far, 12 Superhero results, and 3 Superduperhero results. One of the twelve Superhero results was achieved by doing 25k in a Class 3. Think 'Popehatz Goes to Rio'. (Would make for a nice movie title, btw.) To lift another tip of the veil: all of the Superduperhero results were achieved by the Dirty Dozen of the little list earlier in this post. But 3 Hero results and 3 Superhero results were achieved by six more people, expanding the MOFO Hall of Fame to the Illustrious Eighteen. Let's do the same as above and rank them in a little list, starting with Superduperheroes, then ranked by Superhero results, then by Herohoods: 1. Popehatz: 1SDH+3SH (one of the SHs is a 25k Class 2 one); 2. Gus: 1SDH+1SH+2H; 3. Penguin: 1SDH+1SH+1H; 4. North, Jmac, Tornado: 1SH+1H; 7. 'Zoo, Tiggs2000, Snowbird, Jethro: 1SH; 11. Nokitano, 3H; 12. Vic, Spudwreck, Yitz, Green Paper: 1H. Popehatz is the undisputed ruler of the Hero list; Gus comes second. Both have booked four results in total. Third on the list is Penguin, with three results: one of each. In 4th we find three Superheroes, each with one extra Hero result; and in 7th, four more, with a Superhero result only. Nokitano, in 11th, heads up the Heroes with three results. He is followed by four more 'single Heroes', making 15 in total. This means that three podium finishers have never booked a Hero result: that's Faye, Ump, and Ktc. Lady and gentlemen, when can we expect one? Anyway, behold the true noblesse of TA1ville: the 18 people who won Cups, climbed podiums, and became Heroes. Thanks, all of you, for hard work, and may many more follow! Cheers, M.
<3 Merlion, great read as always! I think Faye should be entitled to one Super Regular Hero for her consistency though TA1 never sleeps!
Nice work, Merlion. Thanks for breaking the silence. I had a really busy day and fell from 7th to 12th. Now 10th is 800 jobs ahead. Luckily, I have some time now to attempt to make a top ten finish.
I updated the spreadsheet last night with the Leaderboard at that time , look for link in my signature below and click on the Las Vegas sheet. I think you're the Unknown who has been flip flopping with 'Zoo. I'll try to update it again a little later after the mornin settles, trying to get everyone up and ready and out the door right now ...
Vic!! You rock! Thanks so much for sending me the Bobcat part -- it's the last one I needed to complete my airpedia! Nah, I'm just a wannabe. See Merlion's updated stats post for a list of the *real* heavy hitters. You included! Happy to oblige, since I'm sitting this one out. With my project looming over my head, I know I shouldn't be peeking in on the forum and the game, but it's hard to break an addiction!
Thanks for posting the screenshots. I have never been able to post screenshots from my iPhone, even though others have had success. Can't seem to do it from Safari or from the TA mobile app. Congrats on completing your Airpedia. I still haven't done it. I discovered that not only do you need to acquire a plane, you also need to keep it around. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, I used to own a Fogbuster. Then I gave it away. Now I notice that it is no longer checked on my Airpedia. I'm in no hurry to reacquire some of these planes I used to have (plus others I don't even want) just to complete my Airpedia. I'll get around it someday ... just like I'll eventually get around to delivering 1000 jobs to each of the 44 events, none checked so far, the best one so far is 475/1000 for Shipping Out. I'm peripatetic today so won't be flinging too many planes until later tonight when I'll have more time.
Love our purveyor of statistics! Always an interesting read. Formulating a letter to the editor to inquire about one category that seems to be missing...conspiracists, er...no, fabulous finishes! LOL. How can the three-way tie not make it on the Hall of Fame list? With the delay in leader board updates & the fact that it was a Superhero result, that's a moment to relish. Hmmm....could it be the statistician extraordinaire is still fussing about all the fractions hanging around? Or could it be the photo of Gus, Penguin & 'Zoo hanging in the editor's office shall suffice?
