Finally have some time to fly. This event didn't line up with my schedule. Currently drilling a new well and things have been busy. I'm about to try to climb the leaderboard over the next few hours. Started in 12th... Shooting for 8th by the end of the night.
I see you! Watching the Leaderboard to see whether Gus and/or 'Zoo leapfrog over Yitzc ... They're ~800-1000 jobs behind. Has anybody seen a list of actual planes that the PP planes are modeled after? Some of them, like the SeaKnight and C-130 Hercules, are obvious. What about the others? Whadya think about an update introducing a larger version of the C-130? Like a new C-17 Globemaster limited/rare plane....
Very interesting stats indeed! Would love a peek at the spreadsheet. You can fling planes while listening to audiobooks.
I keep getting caught in Gus's planes tail wake...I've managed to squeak into 2nd for a second, thinking I'll be able to make ground (or is it air), then the Great Swarm Master's planes land and he's 100+ jobs ahead. It's hard work trying to just keep up.
Do you hear the vrrrrooooooommmmm of the mighty kangaroos going by you? Or the whhhoooooooooosssshhhhhhh of the Kringle Kruisers? LOL This event was not an easy one being so far away from the bigger airports. Gus
Can hear them in the distance, the noise is pushing me forwards. This was hard also having so many airports being shut down in the area.
I only lost Bangkok for a while. I am shutting down Sydney as the event winds down. On another note what happened to Mindtornado? There was a lot of smack talking a few days ago but I guess the wind was taken out of his/her sails! LOL Rest for the PP burnouts. It is the only cure.
I have errands to run. Not sure I'll be able to get screenshots. Here's where we stand with just over an hour to go. Sent my last slew of planes off to Auckland.
Aaaaaand Faye just pulled 500 jobs in the last update on my unsuspecting a.ss Damn you Faye lol, too late to catch up on you

Here you go, this is my best guess at the planes. Some of the little stuff, Bearclaw/SuperGopher/Griffon i'm not sure about as i'm not great with little planes, bigger planes and military stuff is more my thing. Also while looking though planes I've realised they haven't done anything to match the DC-3/C-47 which I thought they could have done along with a number of other iconic planes from various eras. Hot air balloon = Hot air balloon (fairly obvious) Bobcat = Boeing Stearman P-40 Warhawk = P-40 Warhawk (again fairly obvious but i'm doing the full list) Bearclaw = Bellanca 8KCAB Decathlon SuperGopher = Cessna C-170 Taildragger Griffon = Cessna C-152 Taildragger Navigator = Piper Cherokee Wallaby = Lockheed Vega Anan = IAI Arava Equinox = Learjet 25 Mohawk = Cessna 340 Huey = UH-1 Huey Airvan = Cessna 207 Starship = X-wing? Birchcraft = Beechcraft King Air Kangaroo = DHC2 Otter X10 Mapple Pro = Swearingen Merlin Kringle Kruiser = Santa's sleigh Blimp = Blimp!! Pearjet = Learjet 60 Sea Knight = Sea Knight Aeroeagle = Yak-42 Fogbuster = 737 (No plane I know of with 2 underwing engines and high tail so close enough) Concorde = Concorde Tetra = DC-9 (No real plane that gets close, DC-9 the best I could do) C-130 = C-130 Sequioa = Lockheed Electra Cyclone = A340/707 (Nearest I can get as no planes with 4 underwing engines and high tail) Cloudliner = Boeing 747
Go to the flight crew on the menu and actually open up the leader boards and stuff AFTER you open the airport. Usually fixes it for me, although for a while during the Jerusalem event, I think it was nimble bits error...none of us had blue jobs for he first hour or so of the event...
THANKS!!! Your best guess is better than mine, I know very little about planes. While quickly skimming down that list, I read that as "Swearing Merlion"? Do not despair ... help is on the way, the Swarm has come out of hibernation, Gus has delivered over 1000 jobs over the past 6 hours!!! I'm still processing leftover Aukland layovers. I'm always late to start a new event, takes me a while to warm up and finally get a good rhythm going by day 2, lose interest for a bit, then do a whole bunch near the end ... and suffer from PP burnout by the end of the event. Hmmm maybe that's why it takes me a day to start the next event.
Auckland MOFOs After throwing us two bones with a Full Blimp event, immediately followed by a Full Sea Knight one, NimbleBit threw us a hand grenade. The evil folks in Poway, CA put their loyal PP players to the ultimate test, creating a cargo only event in a Class 1 airport at the end of the Earth. The TA1 crew were stunned for a moment. Some were burnt out, some were bloated with Blimp and Sea Knight parts, and others found they just had to recover from the fierce flinging of the last seven days. But the hardy citizens of TA1ville wouldn't be worthy of that reputation if they hadn't bounced back quickly. And bounce back they did. Surprising numbers of jobs were hauled from thousands of miles away, using 'Roos, Mapples, Sea Knights, and unexpectedly popular, Kringle Kruisers. The Santa Sleighs seemed a bit out of place, delivering dubious cakes to prisoners in Kiwi Land, but hey! Who cares? If it works, it works. Plus, the elves who piloted them didn't mind as it was midwinter in Auckland, which is just the right season for them. We got a surprise winner, too: Yitz, who hadn't seen a victory since Adelaide, ages ago, stole the lead from the Usual Suspects and ran away with 1st place, delivering 4,315 prison pies in the process. Congrats, Android Man! Talking about the Usual Suspects, Gus made his presence known again, grabbing second place with a cool 3,333 jobs. It looks like the Swinging Swarmster is trying to build a bit of a reputation delivering special numbers of jobs. (A certain conspiracy springs to mind.) 'Zoo did her best as well, and came in third with 2,856 jobs. Congrats to the podium winners! Faye had a late start as usual, which doesn't need to stand in the way of victory, judging by her stellar record. But in the harsh circumstances of Auckland it did. Faye managed fourth, more than a thousand jobs behind fellow stayer 'Zoo. Vic, our respected Sheriff, came back from his sabbatical to grab 5th. Vic was clearly fired up by some new stats published by the MOFO Statesman & Herald, showing Faye as the one person who won points in all eight Silver Yokes so far, and Vic as the only other person still capable of achieving the same. And this the self-confessed 'statistics whore' did, scooping up 10 ppints that undoubtedly will come in useful in all the other stats, Cups and Leagues. 1,723 Jobs turned out to be enough to do the job, just 69 behind Faye. Stogey Jerry, the Penguin, and Ina took 6th through 8th, with scores in the twelve to fifteen hundred range. Ninth place was claimed by another surprise appearance: Train2000. It was only his second time scoring MOFO points, sixth place in Pevek, a long time ago, being the first. Apparently remote places inspire Train. Glad to have you back, Trainster, and hope to see more scores from you! Mindtornado, finally, brought up the rear, setting the entry bar for MOFO points in Auckland at a smidgen above 1,000. Which brings us to SY8, with only one race to go: 1st: Mindtornado, 127 points (1st, 126); 2nd: Nalazoo, 109 (3rd, 94); 3rd: Faye, 107 (2nd, 95); 4th: Stogey Jerry, 71 (4th, 63) 5th: 4ndrew_g, 63 (5th, 63); 6th: Ktc, 48 (6th, 48); 7th: Gus, 47 incl. two 2nds (8th, 29); 8th: Ump, 47 incl. one 3rd (7th, 47); 9th: Thisisina, 31 (9th, 27); 10th: Yitz, 27 (22nd, 2). The 8th Silver Yoke is going down the wire. For the first time since months, the Champion will be decided in the last race. The Wily Whirler looks set for the Cup, but it isn't done yet. Both Faye and 'Zoo can theoretically win, although it isn't looking good for them. 'Tornado only needs 6th place to win, whatever the girls do, PLUS one of them needs a win, as nothing else will overtake the Twister. Watch this space, folks, and all shall be revealed! Meanwhile, the girls are conducting their own battle. 'Zoo hopscotches into 2nd, Faye drops back to 3rd, but the difference is still only two points. Who will get the upper hand? That, my friends, is the riveting battle unfolding before our eyes. All told, the podium for SY8 is set. We just don't know the order yet. Jerry sits in 4th, unable to reach 3rd. He'll have to glance over his shoulder once in a while for Andrew G, 8 points behind him, but his current position looks quite safe. Andrew, in turn, only needs to look ahead, at Jerry, as everybody else is sitting 15 points behind him. The same cannot be said for Ktc, Gus, and Ump, the folks in 6th-8th. They're sitting at 48, 47 and 47 respectively. Bergen will decide the outcome. Ina holds on to 9th, with 31 points thanks to the 4 she grabbed in Auckland. How safe is she? That depends on whether Yitz has been truly unleashed. His win gets him within spitting distance of 9th place, and Ina will have to watch out. Yitz's jump to 10th has relegated Jmac to 11th. If he wants to make it back into the Top Ten he has one more chance and two points to go. Penguin and Jethro, in 13th and 14th both with 18 points, also have a chance, but will have to work hard for it. And Icon, in 14th with 14? Icon, where art thou? (If that doesn't sound Shakespearean, I don't know what does.) Next, GS3, nine races to go: 1st: Mindtornado, 220 (1st, 219); 2nd: Faye, 194 (2nd, 182); 3rd: Nalazoo, 193 (3rd, 178); 4th: Popehatz, 150 (4th, 150); 5th: Jmac, 130 (5th, 130); 6th: Ktc24, 113 (6th, 113); 7th: Penguin, 91 (7th, 85); 8th: Stogey Jerry, 76 (8th, 68); 9th: XGarriga, 64 (9th, 64); 10th: Andrew G, 63 (10th, 63). Very little change in the rankings. As in, none. But the calm is only on the surface. Mindtornado enjoys a good lead over de girls, but unlike the 8th Yoke, the 3rd Sequoia still has nine races ahead of it. And same as in the Yoke, the girls themselves are in the middle of a riveting duel over second and third. One point separates them, and there's no way to tell how this will unfold. Further below nothing much seems to be happening. Cigar Man and the Polar Bird are adding some points, setting themselves up for some gains if Jmac and Ktc don't start to fight back. Which, let's face it, can happen any time. Just below the surface Gus is moving up, now in 11th with 47 points. Now that it looks like the Swarmster has been unleashed, be prepared to see him break surface and get back in the Top Ten! And how about the Concorde? 1st: Faye Valentine, 657 (1st, 645); 2nd: Gus, 573 1/3 (2nd, 555 1/3); 3rd: Nalazoo, 447 1/3 (3rd, 432 1/3); 4th: Penguin, 378 1/3 (5th, 372 1/3); 5th: North, 366 (4th, 366); 6th: Number1Ump, 335 (6th, 335); 7th: Ktc24, 299 (8th, 299); 8th: Nokitano, 287 (7th, 287); 9th: Vic, 277 (9th, 267); 10th: Snowbird, 240 (10th, 240). Business as usual in the Concorde. We are now getting to the phase that something radical must happen before the rankings start changing seriously. Faye steadily builds her lead and she will be grateful for every point she added, should there be an attack later on. Gus is adding some points, which makes life more difficult for 'Zoo, who was making nice headway towards him, and shows every sign of continuing to do so. Vic is still keeping Snowbird at bay, adding 10 points that come in very handy. And time is getting shorter and shorter for attacks from below. Mindtornado still sits in 11th, having added only one point in Auckland, now 20 behind the 'Bird. Jmac sits 5 points behind him. Yitz sits in 20th, with 111 points. He needs five more victories to even get into the Top ten, let alone start overtaking people in it. Still, none of the MOFO Cups are places where you want to be complacent. Up or out, is the motto. Fly or die. From the wilds of wintry Auckland to the burning birch woods of Bergen, get going or get out of the way. And we of the M S & H will be there to report every low and every high. Skål in Bergen! Cheers, M.
