Canada Day MOFOs It was quiet in the little town of TA1ville. Too quiet, in the eyes of some. Penguin even pronounced the place 'dead' a couple of times, which maybe was a bit of an exaggeration. But indeed one can say there was not a whole lot going on in the village, or in Icon's Saloon for that matter. You could tell Icon's Saloon was quiet because that's when Icon gets bored. And when Icon gets bored, conspiracy theories pop up like mushrooms in Autumn. We of the MOFO Statesman & Herald are especially aware of this, since Icon airs many of them by writing a Letter to the Editor. So it was a relief to everyone when NimbleBit brought out the Mystery Parts, for Blimps no less. Immediately TA1ville was transformed into the liveliest place since ages. Crowds gathered in the square, the Old Guard came out of the woodwork, drinks were drunk and gauntlets were thrown. Even Snowbird was seen, just outside the points maybe, but she was there. This was a good thing, since no Canada Day celebration in Ottawa is complete without the Snowbirds. Icon's Saloon became so busy that not a single conspiracy theory was heard for days on end. Only one person was conspicuously absent: Popehatz, the Champion of yore who had announced at the time of his disappearance that he would be back as soon as Blimps would be in play. What kept him? Was he distracted? Did something happen? Didn't he get the memo? The M S & H are still investigating. And of course we will keep you abreast of the outcome, dear readers. Meanwhile, a great fight unfolded before our eyes. And it was Mindtornado who arose victorious from the whirling dust. With 7,410 jobs he barely managed to stay ahead of Gus the Swarm Master, who scored more than 7,200. Ump completed the podium by hauling 5,789 jobs to O-town. That's 2-1 for the Old Guard, although the New Guard got first place so we guess they have the last laugh. Next came a group of five, finishing 4th through 8th, that was more closely packed than we've seen for a long time in the MOFOs. Faye, Spineth, Stogey Jerry, 'Zoo and the Penguin, in that order, were in total a puny 250 jobs apart; the first three were split by an astonishing 25! CallMe JC and Ktc completed the Top Ten; they too were only 18 jobs apart. Four Sea Knights, five Mapples, or 6 Mohawks - take your pick. Ktc set the entry bar at 3,835 jobs, more than double what we've been used to since Rio, which was a Class 3 city to boot. So without further ado, let's examine the consequences for SY8, now two thirds on the way: 1st: Mindtornado, 116 points (1st, 91); 2nd: Faye, 91 (2nd, 79); 3rd: Nalazoo, 82 (3rd, 76); 4th: 4ndrew_g, 63 (4th, 63); 5th: Stogey Jerry, 57 (5th, 49) 6th: Ump, 47 6ths (7th, 32); 7th: Ktc, 33 (6th, 32); 8th: Gus, 29 (11th, 11); 9th: Thisisina, 27 (8th, 27); 10th: Icon, 14 (9th, 14). Here we see the consequences of a bunch of Comeback Kids scooping up most of the points: nothing much happens at the top. With the exception of the Gleeful Gale, of course, who reinforces his dominance and now rules the roost with a 25 points lead over Faye, the number 2. With three races to go he' may not yet be in the clear, but it's going to be darn difficult to get past him. 'Zoo sits in third, only three points behind Faye so the podium is far from decided. Looks like there's a great fight ahead! Andrew G follows in 4th, at a bit of a distance due to his absence in the Ottawa points. Step on it, Andrew, if you want to make it onto the podium and into immortality! Contrary to Andrew, our resident cigar aficionado is still beavering away and as a result he's closing in, now 6 points away. And it's a good thing he's doing that, because Ump is hot on his tail, scoring 15 points and now sitting 10 behind him. Ump jumps Ktc, who drops a place to 7th. And with Gus 4 points behind him in 8th, that 7th place may be in danger too. because the Swarmster has been unleashed. Ah, Gus. He's baaack. Egged on by the Penguin, he's making all the right noises, even wanting to take on the legendary Papal Hatter. Gus is a force to be reckoned with, and we all can't wait to see the fight unfold. Rest assured, boyz and girlz, we of the M S & H will be there to report it! Meanwhile, Ina and Icon maintain their toehold on the Top Ten, dropping from 8th and 9th to 9th and 10th, respectively. Nokitano drops out. Close, but Nokitano, as they say. He's still there, though, in 11th now, only two points away from the Top Ten. Spineth materialises right behind him in 12th, with his newly gained 10 points. Boomer in 13th, with 8; and dare I say it, the Penguin and the Merlion side by side in 14th! Never thought we'd see the day. That said, on to GS3: 1st: Mindtornado, 209 (1st, 184); 2nd: Faye, 178 (3rd, 166); 3rd: Nalazoo, 166 (2nd, 160); 4th: Popehatz, 150 (4th, 150); 5th: Jmac, 105 (5th, 105); 6th: Ktc24, 98 (6th, 97); 7th: Penguin, 77 (7th, 73); 8th: XGarriga, 64 (8th, 64); 9th: Andrew G, 63 (9th, 63); 10th: Stogey Jerry, 62 (10th, 54). Nothing whatsoever changes in the pecking order. The Wily Whirler increases his lead, Faye follows suit, 'Zoo stays on course, and the Popester remains in situ. Further down, movements are even smaller. But look at the result: Lorena aka XGarriga, Andrew G and Stogey Jerry with 64, 63, and 62 points! That, as they say, is far from undecided, and the last word hasn't been spoken. GS3 ain't over yet. And the Concorde League of All Time? Umm, let's see: 1st: Faye Valentine, 641 (1st, 629); 2nd: Gus, 555 1/3 (2nd, 537 1/3); 3rd: Nalazoo, 420 1/3 (3rd, 414 1/3); 4th: North, 366 (4th, 366); 5th: Penguin, 364 1/3 (5th, 360 1/3); 6th: Number1Ump, 335 (6th, 320); 7th: Nokitano, 287 (7th, 287); 8th: Ktc24, 284 (8th, 287); 9th: Vic, 267 (8th, 267); 10th: Snowbird, 240 (10th, 240). Nothing much changes in the Top Ten. Despite his newly found form, Gus is still 74 points behind Faye. Not impossible, but he'll have to revv up again. 'Zoo keeps adding to her score and now has almost 60 points over North. Penguin, on th'other hand, is breathing down the Northster's neck. And a little bit further down, Ktc is still in the process of overtaking Nokitano, in what we can call a slow-motion jumping manoeuvre. When is it going to happen, Ktc? If we would've held our breaths we of the M S & H would've died and you wouldn't be reading this report. (Except for Merlion, of course. Merlions by their nature can live both above and underwater.) Finally, Snowbird still sits there, merrily chirping in 10th place. But behind her looms the Perfect Storm: it is Mindtornado, who just breezed past Jmac and now has 209 points against the 'Bird's 240. Get some wind under your own wings, Bird Girl! Meanwhile, NimbleBit is treating us to back-to-back whole plane events. (You betcha. How could they make Independence Day any less of an event than Canada Day? It would be treason!) The crew have moved their fleets to Philly in search of Sea Knight parts and MOFO points, not necessarily in that order. And we will be there to report the results. Over and out, M.
Thanks mucho, Faye! The dearth of screenshots had me worried for a moment. Once again, one wonders where the MOFOs would be without you Cheers, M.
I can think of plenty more achievements: 25k jobs in a Class 1/2 (not done yet; Pope did a 25k in Rio); the Triple Superhero (10k in a Class 1, a Class 2 AND a Class 3); and finally, Triple Crown (winning a Yoke, a Sequoia, and the Concorde). Lot of work to do, Dust Devil Dude! Cheers, M.
Well. Went at it pretty hard yesterday. Can't help but fall back today since I will be playing a some golf by competing in my local Club Championship and then taking the boat out to watch the fireworks on the lake. So don't expect much from me today. I'll be back at it tomorrow! Cheers!
Whew...been creeping up the leader board and finally have a view of the top. Will fireworks, burgers and dogs & celebrations pull pilots away? That remains to be seen. As of 12:37pm EST, here's what the Top 10 looks like: 1. 2945 Mindtornado 2. 2531 Superpenguin - hope its a fast golf game...oh wait, can't you play as others play on...sneaky . LOL 3. 2281 Gus172 4. 2221 JMAC 362436 5. 2166 ? 6. 1920 ? 7. 1697 JCruz1027 8. 1537 KTC24 9. 1290 Nalazoo 10. 1285 Relharn Happy 4th & happy flinging!
Dear Nimblebit, Your recent stunt of closing New York for half an hour, thus grounding half my fleet: not cool. Thank you, Becky
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH this game is really getting on my nerves today. After getting a rubbish mismatch of parts for the Ottowa event I thought it couldn't get any worse but the game has proved me wrong. I've now delivered 7 parts in this event and the last 6 have been controls hopefully I can get at least one full plane out of this event by the end of it but I get the feeling i'm going to have a lot of controls! So onwards, maybe next full plane event i'll have more than 1 Sea Knight and 1 Sequoia delivering jobs.
I think there's something wrong with the job count - there is no way that I've taken 148 jobs to Philadelphia (having played about 30mins since 5.30pm, and I only had about 35 jobs then).
Admittedly, I haven't been working tirelessly on Philli, but I have yet to see even one mystery part! Anyone else experiencing this as well?
I'm sure others will be in the market for those controls. I for one am. sit tight after the dust settles we'll trade our dozen extra useless parts.
I've had them dry up too, not had a single piece since about 6pm last night, which is good in one way as I haven't had anymore controls but bad that I haven't had anything else either. I've seen this before in events though where they dry up for a bit then loads come though in the final day.
Just for Vic... http://edition.cnn.com/2013/07/05/world/europe/france-surveillance-claims/?hpt=ieu_c2
Actually I do have a spare blimp engine. If you haven't already traded with anyone, I'll take a body for it.

Hell of an idea, Icon. Next event: Embassy Dinner in Caracas. And instead of scattering atound Mystery Parts, it'll be Mystery Jobs: 25 bux for every job in gold colour with Edward Snowden's name on it C'mon, NimbleBit! Be a bit nimble on your feet! Cheers, M.
