Dear Everyone! First of all, thanks to the collective knowledge summarised in the excellent posts you recommended I went from the unconscious incompetence level to halfway between conscious incompetence and conscious competence My fleet is Level 26 now, with 7 Sequioa-Ms, 5 Aeroeagle Ms and 3 event cargo carrier Roo-Ms. I've collected a few questions that arose during my recent plays: I'm on an iphone4, and was wondering if others encounter similar slow-downs when switching to the PP app or when 'top-banner' notifications (plane landed, new jobs, new market items) appear (slow-down as in 3-7 sec wait till the game responds again). I've experienced the same kind of issue with Tiny Tower, but only when zoomed out to birds view. In your experience, what is the number of slots when you should start focusing on bux hoarding? I'm currently at 15 and was wondering if I should've started it already or should've waited for a couple more days(weeks) and grown my fleet a bit. I've sometimes noticed that when I switch to a plane that's waiting at an airport, and the timer on next jobs is <1Min, after scrolling through the items, then upon refresh I exit-reenter cargo loading the job list is the very same. Is this due to some sort of out-of-sync behaviour? Also, 21st on first event in TA1, thanks again everyone! I'm aiming 15-20 for the Quito event p.s. add me on GC Zafir47
So far today of my class 3 cities only London, Sao, Kinasha, Seoul, LA, Paris and Tokyo have been shut down. Come on nimble, I have like 6 more cities!
Ah, Boomer, my deepest apologies! It slipped my mind and I was in a hurry, as you could see from numerous (now corrected) typos. Somehow Boomer has lodged in my mind as being male, probably because it's Captain Boomerang's nickname. Will try to contain it. Cheers, M.
Nice 'Zoo! You might like these as well: Beautiful HDR Photographs of an Airplane Cockpit by a Pilot Photographer http://petapixel.com/2013/06/12/beautiful-hdr-photographs-of-an-airplane-cockpit-by-a-pilot-photographer/ Cheers, M.
So... I leave to watch the Thursday opening of World War Z up about 400+ jobs only to be down 200 when I get back. Apparently, when 'Zoo is on fire I cannot: 1. Take a nap 2. Watch a movie
Try working for 8 hours and leaving feeling confident about being in 6th only to come home and see you are in 12th. Now I'm ready for bed and prob will wake up in 15th or worse. Merlion... you should have a "super bowl"event that lasts 2 events for all of the top dogs. I would love to see pope, Nalazoo, tornado, Faye, ktc, penguin, Gus, north, ump, and anyone else that has destroyed events repeatedly all competing for the title. You can call it THE CONSPIRACY EVENTS! The "Challenge Of Nimble Stars Participating In Really Awesome Climatic Year-ending" events
Too funny! If you want to know...click black box. Spoiler If you're into "feeling" the movie & having the large screen impact for the action scenes...see it in the movies. Otherwise, wait for it to come out on DVD. I like the way the story was told. Of course, Henry Cavill's chiseled features make for a good look. My son says it fits with the comic's view of Superman. Overall, I liked it.
OMG! There is an unknown between Zoo and Tornado: 1. 2934 Zoo 2. 2303 Unknown 3. 2227 Tornado Zoo & Tornado were only 200 jobs apart ~6 hours ago.
So I think I will just delete the game after all... it sounds like the person that did send the Pearjet parts to me isn't here anymore (they still haven't contacted me), and even if I wanted to give them away to a random person it sounds like nobody cares about them because it's more of a beginner item. All of you sound very hardcore (I mean, really, spying on opposition from the leaderboard? Conspiracy theories? Come on, peeps. It's a game!) so I doubt you want the parts. I don't usually have an issue with the "experience" at home. It has a lot more to do with sound than video, in my opinion. If it's on a crappy speaker system, it takes so much magic out of the movie in question. But even if I'm watching a 10-inch portable television, as long as I have my headphones in, it's still a wonderful experience. I thought Man of Steel was amazing, personally.
Nice idea, Icon! Although I think it requires a bit more thinking and fewer letters I definitely like the idea of a playoff, or a Champions' Championship. But it depends a little on what the crowd can handle. I'm already hearing remarks every now and then about the different Leagues (esp. newbies - I think the rest of us have got used to them by now) so not sure if yet another Cup will make our cup runneth over. (OK, bad pun.) And you're also on to something with a job-counts-across-multiple-events kind of thing. Maybe an Allrounder Cup, for the highest total number of jobs across the next Class 1 event, plus the next Class 2, plus the next Class 3? Then we wait till we had one of all three, add up the job numbers and declare the winners. One more idea would be to do a special Newbie Friendly Cup. Anyone can compete but to qualify you have to post a screenshot of your result, from which we can also see your level. We then use the level to handicap people. Gives the younger 'uns an edge. Cheers, M.
ice idea, Icon! Although I think it requires a bit more thinking and fewer letters. Wow nice jab? I thought it was perfect in the description of what it was and also after me since I came up with it and you LOVE taking those pot shots at me. Oh well...
I mean really? Why do you give a crap how or what we are. You appear in December for like 2 days randomly posting odd questions someone gives you plane parts on a very basic plane and then you disappear for 6 months Hell I'm not judging you, maybe you were underwater for that long (which would explain a lot). But why keep coming on here looking for an answer as to why someone won't just fess up and admit to sending you the dang plane? If you are ready to delete, JUST DELETE IT ALREADY and move on with your life. We enjoy it here, and the things we do so leave us be. The ones that don't enjoy it have moved on. You want hardcore? How about holding on to a plane in a "game" that you clearly are not playing, just so you don't feel bad for "not giving it back to the rightful owner". Now that is hardcore.
I think my tone was misinterpreted by you. I didn't mean it as a personal attack to any of you. I meant it as a playful observation that it does seem a little silly to take your love of the game into the real world in such a way that you are literally spying. That's all I meant... and even that might sound like a jab, but I promise I didn't mean ill with it As for my disappearances for months on end, then reappearances complete with hundreds of posts in a crazy short span of time, I just go through phases of loving iOS enough to want to partake in discussion with all of you, and sometimes I start veering away from it for one reason or another. But I'm here to stay at the moment, so... yay? So if you were implying I came back just to post in this thread for manipulation to try and acquire plane parts from generous individuals, that is completely wrong. First off, I didn't post solely in this thread when I came back... I posted in lots of threads. Secondly, I never really asked for someone to help me with plane parts; I honestly just came in to say that I was really enjoying the game, and then eventually I started becoming sad about how little progress I was making in relation to all of you (I mean... it was pretty ridiculous how little progress I was making haha ). I asked for tips on how to get better at the game, and the aforementioned generous individual privately PM'd me and gave me the parts that he thought would help my game progress a lot. I was so thankful and grateful for it, and I almost didn't even accept it... because I honestly thought it was too kind and I would not have put those parts to good use, especially apparent after I abandoned the game a few short weeks later. Please don't talk down on my... erm... I don't know what you call it. Obsession with gratification for both parties, perhaps? I take everything very personally and the most minuscule sign of help or gratitude (even a nice girl smiling at me from across an aisle at Safeway), I hold onto that moment for such a long time. I considered this Pocket Planes assistance as a very meaningful and kind gesture, and I wish I could pay that person back. Naturally, I am taking it personally that these parts are going to be leaving without anybody worthy playing with them. It hurts me so much for this to happen. It's not a quirk with Pocket Planes, it's a quirk with everything. I lend someone a movie, they don't like it, I feel devastated. Someone lends me a movie, I don't enjoy it, I feel devastated. My life is built on the fictional premise of true equality, and that reflects in my quirks about repaying people for their kindness. If I don't like a movie that someone recommends or lends to me, I will feel like I betrayed them in a way. I say sorry about everything, too... I drop a pen, I say sorry. I file a folder in the wrong place, I say sorry. Someone's computer isn't working when I am the customer at the register, I say sorry and feel responsible in some weird way for it not working. I think, "Man, if I only came in a little bit earlier or a little bit later, their computer would have been working." and I make that into a negative statement about myself. I'm very self-deprecating, so the only thing I can do to life my own spirits up, is lift others' spirits up. If I fail at doing so, I beat myself up over it. That's the concise version of the clusterfudge I wrote above. Please don't take any offense to what I said. It really was not my intention. I mean I can be a real douchebag if I want to be, but sometimes I come off as one when it is never intended to be even close. I am sorry for "poking the bear" as they say
The only thing I can suggest if you haven't deleted the game already is to donate them to a random lower level player on the forum as someone did to you. Look back through the last pages of posts find someone who looks like they are at a low level and send them the parts. Also maybe consider giving away other planes that you have, if your deleting the game it's not like you are going to miss them. Have fun with whatever you play after this.
I like the idea of a Champions league. I qualify, you have to have either won an event or eclipsed the 10,000 job mark? Just an idea... I've been doing the 50 job minimum for the past few events gearing up for a big run at an event that fits my style.
Would love a way to get newer players to join in all the fun. Otherwise it is discouraging to most newbies. That's so cool! I didn't know there was a "spoiler" tag. I'll always think of Henry Cavill as the kid in The Count of Monte Cristo. Flung planes to Quito up till the end, just barely managed to leapfrog you, and that's only because you fell asleep early. Anybody know who ranked 4, 8 and 10?
Yep, I'm on iPhone 4 and experience that freezing up. Annoying as heck. I feel like I play the game in slomo, tapping on stuff much slower than I would like. My game also crashes often. Sometimes I accidentally bring up some sort of PP help page, not sure what I do to trigger this, and I can't close it because it is oversize and there is no X to click on to go back. I end up having to quit the game and restart it. I think you should always give priority to picking up Bux, it's never too early to start doing that. As for Bux Sitting, it'll be a lot easier with more spare planes if you want to keep them grounded in your cities for the sole purpose of picking up Bux jobs. There's a Bux Calculator on the TA1 Spreadsheet, it'll help you figure out how many coins you'll get when you cash in your Bux and tell you how many more plane slots you can buy.
Faye I'm the unknown in 8th. Deja Vu. This one kicked my azz mostly because I got homefrom work and was a cool 150 out of 11th place with 2 hours to go on Android. REALLY was difficult doing 500~ jobs with only 9 mapples in 2 hrs. Getting that last push to get past one of the best in ktc makes it all worth it though.
