Lol that's why I got on here.. I was gonna ask why he is challenging me if he was sitting it out. Bottom line.. This event is Taylormade for a Penguin WIN!! A remote class 1 city.. The mapple swarm is doing work... Plus I have a boat load of free time in the next few days. Won't have any time during the next event. I can fly the first day and a half but that will be it aside from a bit of casual fling. I'm putting all my eggs in a basket and sending them to Wondheik or whatever it is.. Good luck ladies and Gents.
Rio MOFO de Janeiro TA1ville has been a quiet little town lately. It's not like there's no one there, it's not a ghost town. But many of the townspeople have come of age and are less active as a result. They talk among themselves mostly about great deeds of the past, and the heroes of yore. Names like Number1Ump will come up in conversation (who is now more like Number5Ump, judging by his place in the Concorde League). And they will speak knowingly of great heroes like Gus the Swarm Master, or the White Walker from Slightly North. Frankly speaking, the place is in dear need of new blood. But despair no more, dear citizens of TA1ville, for we have a new hero. The new generation has arrived in our sleepy little town, and it is headed up by the Man of the Hour, the Hero of the Day, Popehatz the Magnificent! Our celebrated propagandist for Papal headwear has not only managed to win the Rio race, but has managed to haul a cool 25,000 jobs in the process. Twenty. Five. Thousand. Given that this was a Class 3 event, this would qualify him as a Hero for scaling the 10k barrier, but the M S & H proudly proposes to give him the qualification Superhero for reaching 25k. Henceforth we will up the 10k qualification one notch, so Class 2 events where 25k is reached will qualify as Superduperhero results rather than Superhero results. We know we'll be in trouble when someone (Pope?) will deliver 25k jobs in a Class 1 event, but we'll cross that bridge when the time comes. So congrats to Popehatz for both his overwhelming victory, and his second Superhero result! (Sydney, where he did 15k jobs, was the first.) Pope's achievements almost overshadow those who came in second and third: both Nokitano and Green Paper booked their first Hero results, scoring 10,957 and 10,214 jobs respectively. Remember the days when we would marvel at numbers like these? Nowadays we at the M S & H have to say, look people, these are great too, you know! Just below the podium came Jmac with a bit over 7,000 jobs (would've been good for victory in the majority of past MOFO races, btw), followed by the Penguin and Ktc24 in 5th and 6th, both slightly over the 6,000 mark. Tater made 7th, at 34 jobs (exactly two Cloudliners) distance over Rebartsch, who did a good 8th. Faye and 'Zoo, two of our most reliable points scorers, completed the Top Ten in 9th and 10th. 'Zoo scored 4,286 jobs, which made for quite the entry ticket in the Top Ten this time. Both SY7 and GS3 are now two races in, and here's the new classification for both: 1st: Popehatz, 50 points (1st, 25); 2nd: Penguin, 22 (4th, 12); 3rd: Faye, 20 (2nd, 18); 4th: Nokitano, 18 (nowhere, 0); 5th: Nalazoo, 16 incl. one 3rd (3rd, 15); 6th: Ktc24, 16 incl. two 6ths (6th, 8); 7th: Green Paper, 15 incl. one 3rd (nowhere, 0); 8th: Jmac, 15 incl. one 4th (8th, 3) 9th: North, 10 (3rd, 10); 10th: Tater, 9 (8th, 3). Pope reigns from the Papal throne, much like North the Reigning Champion did in the first races of the previous Silver Yoke. The distance for Penguin in 2nd place is a lot, 28 points after only two races, but hey there are still 7 races to go and the polar bird has puts his chips down for Windhoek in no uncertain terms. He's going for the jugular, and we at the M S & H secretly hope that the Pope (who has tried to fool the whole crew that he would sit this one out) will try the same, because boy will that be a fight!! Faye sits two points behind Penguin and completes the podium for now; Nokitano sits another two behind her; 'Zoo and Ktc two more behind him; and Green Paper and Jmac one more behind them; in that order. Seven miserly points between 2nd through 8th means the fight is still as open as a Church door during a Papal Mass, so to speak. No disrespect to the Roman Catholics among us, of course. And basically the same goes for Uncle North and Uncle Tater, who complete the Top Ten in 9th and 10th, with 10 and 9 points respectively. Behind Statler and Waldorf, oops sorry, North and Tater, sits our much honoured Sheriff with 6 points, followed by Rebartsch with 4, and XGarriga with 1 point. This brings the total number of current points scorers to 13 for now, which means for the moment it's a pretty constant group that does the scoring. Also note that all of this describes both the 7th Silver Yoke and the 3rd Golden Sequoia. Since this is the first month for SY3, for one month these two Cups' standings will coincide. The Platinum Concorde, however, goes on with its own standings: 1st: Gus, 526 1/3 (1st, 526 1/3); 2nd: Faye, 483 (2nd, 481); 3rd: North, 364 (3rd, 364); 4th: Penguin, 309 1/3 (4th, 299 1/3); 5th: Number1Ump, 288 (5th, 288); 6th: Nalazoo, 270 1/3 (6th, 269 1/3); 7th: Nokitano, 263 (8th, 245); 8th: Vic, 248 (7th, 248); 9th: Snowbird, 221 (9th, 221); 10th: Ktc24, 202 (10th, 194). SNADU is the motto here. (Situation Normal, All Dressed Up.) Gus, Faye and the Northster make podium, all within eyesight of each other. Penguin, Ump and 'Zoo follow at a short distance. Vic and Nokitano are playing hopscotch. Vic took 7th from Nokitano in Honolulu, and Nokitano is now taking it back. With a vengeance, you can say, as he immediately put 15 points in between them. Your turn, Sheriff! Snowbird and Ktc still sit unthreatened in 9th and 10th, as Castle is still inactive at 18 points distance, and counting. Tater sits in 12th with 168 and looks ready to take over 11th from Castle. Windhoek, which means Windy Corner in Merlion's native language (or Fart Angle for the more scatologically predisposed), is showing all the signs of a great battle. Let the mayhem begin! Cheers, M.
Thanks Merlion. Love the Muppet reference. No wonder the skies seemd a bit crowded this morning. I see you soaring up the leader board, you're gonna leapfrog me very soon. Ok, how many of you have made the mistake of continuing to pay for advertising for the previous event city? I've done that numerous times. Paid for Rio several times this round. i just hit OK without reading the popup.
I don't know what level it unlocks (iPhone player) and couldn't find the answer by web searching. I think North or HarmoniaMundi might know.
Level 10 or 12 I think. I was quite a bit over that when I finally upgraded my Mac OS to be able to play PP on it. It is a Class 1 plane though so it is available around the time you start seeing the Class 2 planes in the market.
Two things can keep me from victory in this event. 1. Vic's 63 planes 2. I'm buying the iPhone 5 later today and going to attempt to transfer my game over to it using iCloud. Not a clue how this will work out.
Good luck transferring the game over. Is it possible to back up to your computer AND the iCloud? Then maybe you can restore from the computer backup if the cloud doesn't work out?
Our celebrated propagandist for Papal headwear Classic, love it! Sorry, I completely disagree, SP isn't a zit on pope hatz backside...but then frankly no one is. I don't think north (who really dropped out of sight) could even touch Popehatz. Nope, only one person can touch him and I doubt he has the swarm skills to make it happen. But VIC if you do, let's see it! You and pope straight up. You know what would be really cool...if people in the top 10 updated the boards every 8hrs or so just like in the old days! That way everyone knew what was going on!
Thanks Nalazoo And yes, getting over the thought of losing coins/bux is a little disconcerting at first, but the excitement of climbing the ladder is worth it. To be honest there's not much more useful information. I didn't spend a ton of time testing that part of it to make any concrete conclusions, just plowed ahead on a gut feeling after a 5-6 rounds of refreshes. My favored cities ended up being Cuzco and Iquito. The other C1 cities in SA were still producing jobs in the lists for the C3 cities, but noticeably fewer. And of course there is always RNG as a factor, so this part is still a bit unconfirmed in my mind. Also keep in mind that the jobs those C1 cities produce ware also affected by the C3 cities you have open, and their proximity to those cities. Thanks vic Aye, lots of time and effort and lost BUX. After a while I knew going into it (based on Sydney and Hon) that I could still pull off a win and build up my bux reserves. But for Rio, the goal was pretty straight-forward - crush any previous record. It meant even more to me that the event was in Rio, where its location makes flight times more difficult to deal with than Xi'an/NY/London. Not that the previous records aren't impressive in their own regard, I just wanted to raise the benchmark. No, didn't change my mind Still sitting it out by a more liberal definition of the term. After getting a bux-sitting route setup I still had a bunch of idle/leftover slots. I doubt that with the limited planes and limited time this week that I'll come close to challenging your impressive pace at the moment, but I'd still like to get some MOFO points and make a respectable showing. And Vic, that is one hectic screenshot. It's cool to see that much activity condensed into a 4" screen. Good luck everyone!
Everyone is welcome to update the SUCK with interim leader board rankings. We've done that with past events. I find it interesting to see the non-Top-10 people. And it's nice to see who else is still playing this game. (Must also add that the interim rankings logged in the SUCK have assisted in the past with final placement by process of elimination.) At the moment, Penguin leads the pack with 4200 jobs (3300 jobs ~5 hrs ago), followed by Pope at 3100 jobs (2200 jobs ~5 hrs ago). Vic is steamrolling his way up, currently 3rd with 2100 jobs (1300 jobs ~5 hrs ago).
Added about 600 more jobs in an hour, off to bed Playing on the iPad helps. not only for the screen size and the zoom level, but also with the crashes, perhaps one every 6 refreshes instead of every 2/3 refreshes. Using the whole 63 planes makes it hectic and non stop play (no bux sitters) I hangared some class 3 planes, as I had way too many delivering jobs to Kinsasha. At one point I had maybe 15 full planes waiting for layovers spots lol. Now using 13 Mapples, 8 Sea Knights, 2 Roo P for delivery. Boosting for the back trip when I have time lol.
Looks like KTC leap frogged me in the last hour. Don't have much time to fling planes right now. I'll try to catch up later tonight while watching TV. Not only does the game regularly crash on me (iPhone), the new thing it has been doing is hanging when I get back into the game. I have to quit out (X out the wiggly icon) and try again. I'm using 4 Mapples and I think 10 Sea Knights. No P Roos to balance out the SKs. I just pick up non-layover C jobs and pick up P layovers, ignoring the naturally occurring P jobs. Haven't Bux boosted anything yet. I tend to do that near the end of an event if I do it at all. I think I have too many airports open cuz it takes forever to fill up my big planes for 25%, several job refreshes. Sometimes I just send them partly empty when I run out of patience.
Alright. I allowed popehatz to catch up due to having to go to the cellar for a while for tornados. If any of you get a chance check out some of the tornado damage in Oklahoma. Luckily I'm not in Moore. I live about 80 miles south of there. Just devastating up there.
Read the first part of your sentence up to "cellar" and thought you were having fun cracking open a bunch of bottles of wine ... until I finished the sentence and saw "tornado". Stay safe!!! I know you'll be ok, you're a tough penguin that can survive extreme cold and winds.
Didn't know that you were up in that neck of the woods. Glad to hear you are okay. We are about to get some of the same type of weather down here in the Dallas area, but hopefully not like the devastation up in Oklahoma.
You're in Dallas?? I go down to Rangers games frequently. I always stay at the Omni there in downtown Dallas. Not exactly close to the ballpark but I love that place. You come up to OK much?
