I came really close once but it seems that Number1Ump got me right at the end and then that was the closest I ever came.
Faye came on like a freight train, I fully expected to see 2nd or 3rd when I looked this morning, went to bed 2 hours before the end of the event.
I'd look at the leader board briefly, not enough time for it to load names. When I did load names, I thought it had been you i was chasing...lol....or Gus, I thought I had passed Faye. When I finally let names come up, wow - what a surprise. Sleep is overrated...lol. If you're a Mom, you're used to little sleep. Happy Mother's Day to those that are moms, or celebrate it today.
16 years after leaving the Marine Corps, and I'm now going to buy a gun Turns out someone drawing a large knife on you, changes how you feel about guns.
I'm running 16 Aeroeagles out of LA and keep them going constantly. I'm at 800 jobs, and someone has over 2,000??? Who are you??? And what in the world are you doing?
So I'm on my way to work this morning and this guy flies through a stop and nearly hits me. So I flip him the bird. I don't know why just randomly did. He chases me down, jerks his car in front of me and I slam on brakes. He gets out, and as I am sitting there, he reaches behind his seat and grabs a machete similar to the one shown in this picture. At that point I looked him in his eyes and the dudes eyes were so geeked out that he had to have been on something. I haven't ever really been scared about anything, but his demeanor frightened me. I'm no slouch at 6ft 5, 290 but I felt completely helpless. The only thing I would have felt safe with would have been a gun. Maybe it's the amount of looney people running around now more than ever...but I willhave protection from now on, and I won't be flipping anyone off from now on.
That's why I have a permit to carry a weapon. Never leave home without the Sig .380. Only thing to stop a crazy person with a weapon is a good person with a weapon. Of course, if I were a liberal I'd just carry around a "gun free zone" sign because apparently those are supposed to protect schools. You should have one on your car. Enough with the political talk though.
Wow...Honolulu is a "hot" destination. Where as Philadelphia was cold & rainy...the warmth of the sun is drawing planes to Honolulu in big numbers. We're only part way through day 1 and Popehatz has already delivered more jobs than the 10th place finish in Philadelphia. Buckle your seat belts ladies & gentlemen, the ride is going to get bumpy!
I woke up around 6 AM to go jogging and walked outside to my car being broken into. Pulled my gun as I walked out the door of my house and the guy ran off. So... 1. Did he have a weapon on him? Doubtful.. Would he have harmed me had I have just hollered at him to leave? Again, doubtful. But with a weapon pointed at him he didn't attempt to try anything else other than leave. If someone is outside your house trying to take your stuff do you want a gun or not? I don't know about you, but I do. My wife carries a gun in her car as well. What if she has a flat tire along a highway in the middle of nowhere. She has the ability to protect herself and our children.
I guess I've been lucky in my life. I've never even come close to feeling like I need a gun. I live in a nice neighborhood because I can afford it. We have had very few problems around here. But if I lived in a rougher neighborhood I would probably think about it but it would have to get pretty bad before I would own a gun.
I do believe in the 2nd amendment though. I think the Government is held in check by the 300,000,000 guns in private hands in this country.
Willy-Nilly in Philly You'd never guess this about Philadelphia, PA, but it seems to bring out the worst in people. Fortunately I'm not talking about guns here, though. But despite the 6th Silver Yoke Champion already having been crowned, the fight in Philly was furious. There was overtaking. There was sandbagging. There was blood. And there was Faye. Freight Train Faye. But it was Tater who nabbed victory with nearly 8,000 jobs, his first in a long MOFO career. Our one and only Minnesota potato farmer burst onto the scene in Punta Arenas, exactly 25 races ago, with a well deserved third place, later to score the occasional second. Power to you, Tater, and may there be many more! Snapping at Tater's heels, Faye came in second. She steamrollered, sandbagged, and generally flung her way to 7,679 jobs, in a bid to edge Gus off the SY6 podium. Did she succeed? Read on, boyz and girlz! 'Zoo took third. She was one of Faye's sandbagging or steamrollering victims (take your pick, people) but bagged 7,283 jobs nevertheless. Gus defended his SY6 position and came in 4th, Penguin 5th. Both sat around the 7,000 jobs level. Ktc24 did 6th with 5,759 jobs. Then there was a big gap. North came in 7th with 3,724 jobs, more than 2,000 behind Ktc. Rebartsch is definitely back and sits in 8th, not far behind Ktc. In 9th there's a new name, at least as far as the MOFOs are concerned. Welcome to the club, Teodor2004! You are the only one of the apparently 2,000+ Teodors to have made it this far! Teodor did 3,079 jobs, whereas Sdo rounded out the Top Ten with 2,303. This makes Philly an about average event in terms of Top Ten entry tickets. So here are the final results for the 6th Silver Yoke: 1st: SlightlyNorth, 134 points (1st, 128); 2nd: ktc24, 102 (2nd, 94); 3rd: Faye, 72 (5th, 54); 4th: Tater, 71 (6th, 46); 5th: Gus, 69 (4th, 51); 6th: XGarriga, 61 (3rd, 61); 7th: Nalazoo, 50 (7th, 35); 8th: Penguin, 30 (10th, 20); 9th: Popehatz, 25 (8th, 25); 10th: Vic, 22 (9th, 22); North, congrats again with becoming the 6th Silver Yokel. (Sorry, I just had to make this pun at some point in time. Nothing personal. Won't happen again.) North in the end scored a mighty 134 points. Historically this has only been topped by Gus, who took the 4th Silver Yoke with a daunting 186 points. Ktc24 came in second with 102, and a big congrats to him. He's been a steady performer this Silver Yoke and has potential to score big in the other leagues as well. And guess who took the last podium place? Faye "Don't EVER Underestimate Me" Valentine. With 72 points after a hard fought second place in Philly she not only edges Gus the Swarmster off the podium, but also denies Tater access despite his newly scored 25 points! In some circles this would be called a coup d'état. (Except in places like Syria, of course, where they have plenty of the real thing.) And mind you, she was in 14th only three races ago! Congrats, Faye! Whilst the M S & H's offices' sound system blares out Nancy Sinatra's 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' we're affixing the third place roundel to the large poster of you that sits on our wall, next to the official photograph of Sheriff Vic. In 4th and 5th, with only one and three points difference, sit Tater and Gus, licking their wounds with Faye's boot prints all over them. XGarriga takes 6th with 61 points. 'Zoo fought hard and successfully defended 7th, and the Penguin not only managed to stay in the Top Ten but climbed his way back to 8th in the end run. Popehatz's single victory was good for 9th in the final SY6, and our shrewd Sheriff scored just enough points to round out the Top Ten. Thanks all, and look forward to seeing you in the next Silver Yoke! This being the end of the sixth month of the MOFOs, the 2nd Golden Sequoia has its final results as well: 1st: Gus, 345 1/3 (1st, 333 1/3); 2nd: North, 258 (2nd, 252); 3rd: Penguin, 257 1/3 (3rd, 247 1/3); 4th: Faye, 232 (4th, 214); 5th: Nalazoo, 225 1/3 (5th, 210 1/3); 6th: ktc, 176 (6th, 168); 7th: Tater, 142 (7th, 117); 8th: Snowbird, 115 (8th, 115); 9th: Spineth, 105 (9th, 105); 10th: CastlePage, 85 (10th, 85). Whist all the fighting in Philly caused quite a bit of consternation in the 6th Silver Yoke, the 2nd Golden Sequoia's end result remains as-is. Gus was already Champion, North keeps the second place he took from Penguin in Lobito, and Penguin takes the remaining place on the podium. Big hurray for all! Faye's spectacular bid in Philly cemented her 4th place, 'Zoo takes 5th, Ktc 6th. Tater's 7th was never under threat from Snowbird's 8th (Snowbird where art thou, by the way?) and Spineth and Castle, who we haven't seen in a while, take 9th and 10th. Especially Castle we think is heaving a sigh of relief, as he indicated a few races ago that he wouldn't defend his 10th place. Well, Castle, it turns out your early results were enough! Congrats to all. Honolulu kicks off the 3rd Golden Sequoia, as it does the 7th Silver Yoke. See you all, and good luck and happy landings! Finally, the Platinum Concorde, which is now exactly halfway as we've decided to make it an Annual Cup: 1st: Gus, 526 1/3 (1st, 514 1/3); 2nd: Faye, 463 (2nd, 445); 3rd: North, 354 (3rd, 348); 4th: Ump, 288 (4th, 288); 5th: Penguin, 287 1/3 (5th, 277 1/3); 6th: Nalazoo, 254 1/3 (8th, 239 1/3); 7th: Nokitano, 245 (6th, 245); 8th: Vic, 242 (7th, 242); 9th: Snowbird, 221 (9th, 221); 10th: Ktc24, 186 (11th, 178). We've got some movement here. Top 5 stays in place, with Penguin about to oust Ump from 4th. He's now just two thirds of a point behind. 'Zoo's efforts are paying off as she jumps both Nokitano and Vic. Penguin will have to keep at it if he doesn't want to fall victim to our favourite under-the-radar-steady-performer as well. Snowbird still sits semi-comfy in 9th, but Ktc is approaching fast. He just kicked Castle off the Top Ten Of All Time, as previously predicted by your ever-reliable M S & H, and now sits 35 points behind 'Zoo. Tater lurks in 12th, with 159 points 25 behind Castle. One victory, Tater, and that's another place in the prestigious Concorde! Just so you know. Behind Tater not much is happening. People like Copper Metallic, Coastcat, Spineth and PocketDaddy haven't been active for a while. (But could become so again, of course! Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.) If we take a look a currently active up-and-comers, there's XGarriga aka Lorena in 24th, with 73 points 113 behind the current number ten, Sdo62 in 26th, Rebartsch in 32nd. All the way down we have the YogiSmith in 40th and Godfather in 44th, both with 16 points, followed by CAHockey in 58th, Teodor2004 in 62nd, YeltoThorpy in 63rd, and Handy-Brandi in 65th. So that's it for the first half of the Platinum Concorde. Who will get it in half a year's time? Will there still be MOFOs in half a year's time? Stay put and all will be revealed! Cheers all, M.
I can echo that. I have no opinion about countries with different laws and cultures but I do count myself fortunate, always having lived in places were people frown on carrying guns to defend yourself against your neighbours. Singapore, admittedly, is even a wee bit extreme on the issue. Having a gun gets you a long jail sentence. Waving one around in public, even without firing it, can get you the death penalty under certain circumstances. Cheers, M.
Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers out there, four legged pet parents included. No sandbagging by me in Philly, just had a lot of plane flinging time. I love it when hubby drives to the inlaws, lots of time in the car to fling planes. Flung planes while catching up on recorded stuff on the Tivo, and I also caught Tomb Raider on cable just before event end (a fun little movie despite IMDB's low 5.6 rating). It was tough. Zoo was within 300 jobs of me about 8 hours before the event ended, she continued making job deliveries up to the end, and she finished within 400 jobs of me ... so there was no rest for the weary. Honolulu is gonna be a tougher event, the hotels and condos must be all booked cuz Popehatz has already delivered 4100 there. Gus follows with 1500. Better get back to flinging...
