    Bearclaw Only Challenge

    Sup guys. So I had the random idea to back up my current pocket planes save and start over, but with a twist. Only using Bearclaws. That's right, nothing but Bearclaws. I'm not sure if anyone else has made this challenge before, but here are the rules.

    -You can only use the Bearclaw C/P
    -You CAN upgrade your Bearclaws

    I guess that's it for rules.

    Add me on GC: bboyiso and also join the flight crew BCArmada

    Hit me up, and have fun!

    Looks like you, KTC, North, & Gus are gonna leap frog each other for the next 2D 18H. :D

    At the moment I have devoted 4 mapples, 2 sea knights & 1 roo to the event. That might change ... I still have 3 empty plane slots to fill ... and I can hangar some c2/c3 planes. Still no match for you guys with 40-60+ planes....

    Hmmm I'm not sure a Bearclaw can hop across the Atlantic ... If you wanted to do the Nome to Wellington thing. Definitely can't do it from Nuuk or from Recife.

    Golden Week MOFOs

    And so the 50th recorded race in MOFO history rolled to its leisurely end. I say leisurely because of the event's stats. The Northster won the race hands down, with a score of 6,344, whilst Ktc in 10th set the Top Ten entry ticket at 2,060 jobs. Both of these numbers are just below the historical averages of 6,554 and 2,231 respectively.

    But if you want to know how far the MOFOs have come, just look at the averages for the first 25 recorded races: 3,985 and 1,082. What could now be called leisurely is almost double the number for the first half of MOFO history. The MOFOs have become a competitive place indeed.

    So let's have a brief look at the latest culprits of competitiveness. So North won with a runway length lead over Lorena, who scored 4,473 jobs. Faye scored podium in 3rd, just 67 jobs behind Lorena.

    4th Place we see shared between Green Paper and Rebartsch, both with exactly 4,187 jobs. The latter's become active in the MOFOs again lately, and shows he's still a force to be reckoned with. (How many slots now, Randy? 60 or so?)

    The Godfather takes 6th, with Sheriff Vic in his wake. I don't know about you, dear readers, but Merlion finds it slightly disconcerting to see the Godfather and the Sheriff so close together. Icon, conspiracy theory please! :)

    In 8th we see Gus throwing in almost 3,000 jobs. As a hobby, or to bolster his Concorde standing? One thing is for sure, the 4 points he's harvesting won't make a dent in the Silver Yoke, and in the Golden Sequoia he's already been crowned Champion. (OK, that's two things. But you get my drift.)

    Tater and Ktc round out the Top Ten, which gets us to the 6th Silver Yoke as follows:

    1st: SlightlyNorth, 118 points (1st, 93);
    2nd: ktc24, 79 (2nd, 78);
    3rd: Gus, 51 (3rd, 47);
    4th: XGarriga, 43 (6th, 25);
    5th: Tater, 38 (4th, 36);
    6th: Faye, 29 (14th, 14);
    7th: Popehatz, 25 (5th, 25);
    8th: Nalazoo, 23 (7th, 23);
    9th: Vic, 22 (12th, 16);
    10th: Penguin, (8th, 20);

    North is clearly on his way to a win. 39 Points ahead of Ktc with a maximum of 50 points still to score makes him hard to overtake. Even in the event that Ktc manages to win Lobito, the White Walker from behind the Wall will need to score just 4th and the 6th Silver Yoke will be his.

    Ktc looks safe in 2nd, with Gus 28 points behind him.

    The 3rd podium place looks less secure. Gus has only 8 points over XGarriga aka Lorena, who seems to be off to quite an aggressive start in Lobito. If Lorena wins, the Swarmster will have to work hard for the podium. Can you let that happen, SY2 Champ? Noblesse oblige, Roo Master!

    Tater eked out another 2 points and stays in 5th. But how do we see right behind him, al of a sudden? Faye "Do Not EVER Underestimate Me" Valentine! Steamrolling in from all the way down in 14th, she's now occupying 6th. Popehatz, who seems to be resting on his papal laurels, 'Zoo, Vic, and the Penguin saw her whizz past in a Golden Week blur.

    Vic's 6 points in Tokyo got him back in the Top Ten from 16th; and the Penguin needs to galvanise into action lest he drops out of sight. C'mon, polar bird! De-ice those wings and get going!

    Penguin shares his 20 points with Jmac, who only sits in 11th because of his highest score. Nokitano is 1 point behind in 12th, Spineth sitteth another point behind, and Green Paper yet another point. Castle's in 15th with 15 points. Castle Man, are you going to let go of the Top Ten and eternal fame? You used to do 3rd places like they were walks in the park, so we know you can do another 15 points and get back into the Yoke!

    On to the 2nd Golden Sequoia, which already has its Champion. But what happens behind Gus?

    1st: Gus, 327 1/3 (1st, 323 1/3);
    2nd: Penguin, 247 1/3 (2nd, 247 1/3);
    3rd: North, 242 (3rd, 217);
    4th: Nalazoo, 198 1/3 (4th, 198 1/3);
    5th: Faye, 189 (5th, 174);
    6th: ktc, 153 (6th, 152);
    7th: Snowbird, 115 (7th, 115);
    8th: Tater, 109 (8th, 107);
    9th: Spineth, 105 (9th, 105);
    10th: Castle, 85 (10th, 85).

    The remaining two races are promising a titanic battle for second place. The Northster, who's been on a roll lately, has come within spitting distance of the burnt out Penguin and threatens to relegate him to third. Will the polar bird let that happen? Stay tuned, boyz and girlz. The MOFO Statesman & Herald predicts a showdown.

    Nalazoo sits in 4th and can only theoretically reach the podium. Behind her the lineup remains exactly the same. Will it change in the last two races?

    Faye could lash out again and pass 'Zoo. The litle cluster consisting of Tater, Snowbird and Spineth is quite closely packed in 7th-9th. And then there's Castle. He seems to have been gambling on inactivity on behalf of Yitz and Lynsie, only 1 and 5 points behind. So far his gamble has paid off. Will his luck continue? Or will he have to help fate a little? Thanks, Castle, for providing us with a cliff-hanger. The M S & H's subscription department is in your debt.

    Finally, the Concorde Crowd:

    1st: Gus, 508 1/3 (1st, 504 1/3);
    2nd: Faye, 420 (2nd, 405);
    3rd: North, 338 (3rd, 313);
    4th: Ump, 288 (4th, 288);
    5th: Penguin, 277 1/3 (5th, 277 1/3);
    6th: Nokitano, 245 (7th, 227);
    7th: Vic, 242 (6th, 236);
    8th: Nalazoo, 227 1/3 (8th, 227 1/3);
    9th: Snowbird, 221 (9th, 221);
    10th: Castle, 184 (10th, 184).

    No changes here, which is not surprising since we're now exactly 50 races in. We yet have to take a decision on this, but if the MOFOs can keep up we might makes this into an Annual Grand Cup, in which case we'd be almost halfway down now.

    Are any changes foreshadowed for the second half? Gus has created quite the little barrier but a hundred points is nothing in the Concorde: it's just four wins, out of 54 to go. Same for Faye and North. Ump seems to've gone in hibernation, and the Penguin needs to go from unglued to unburnt. Vic sits 3 points behind Nokitano and can take back 6th any time. And indeed, none of the distances in 5th-10th are that big.

    Behind Castle, Ktc in 11th has another 21 points to go. He's doing about 13 on average so we might see him show up soon. In 12th, Tater has another 37 to bridge. XGarriga sits in 26th with 55 points; Green Paper in 29th with 37; Popehatz in 33rd with 25; Rebartsch in 35th with 24; and the Godfather in 41st with 16; just to name a few contenders.

    All we know is it takes a bit more flinging these days. But thank NimbleBit for still finding us little backwaters in Southwest Africa that provide excellent chances for entrepreneurial punters with a keen eye for loints.

    So in a word: Go Lobito!

    Cheers
    M.

    MORONS for Lobito!

    A N N O U N C E M E N T
    ================

    At Tater's special request the MOFO Statesman & Herald has an announcement to make: the MORONS (Merlion's Obvious and Reasonable Opposition to NimbleBit's Stupidity) are back!

    Tater has kindly donated a full C-130, no doubt with a cargo hold full of potatoes, plus a Concorde part. The M S & H will supplement this with more parts, so that we can award the following prizes for the Lobito event:

    1st Place: full C-130;
    2nd-3rd: one C-130 part and one Concorde part;
    4th-10th: one Concorde part.

    All prizes are currently sitting in the M S & H hangar and will be awarded directly to winners if they're on Merlion's Gifting List (GC Merlionine), or through helpful intermediaries if they're not.

    Fling well, my friends! And Tater, thanks for your generosity and initiative!

    Cheers,
    M.

    Yay a MORONS prize to aim for. Might just have a real go for that now. I was running jobs to Lobito with my spare slots to get a bit of extra cash while bux sitting again but I may take it a little more seriously now.

    I have been in PP hibernation. I just log into the forum to see the MOFO report and what you guys/gals are doing. (Yup, I've been actively lurking in the forum).

    @Merlion - I'm still undecided to quit PP. It's a lot of work to fly the planes (so kudos to the 21,000 job record. Even if you have the bux, planes, plane slots and airports, it's still sheer hardwork tapping). It is all due to MOFO that I did not totally quit. :p
    Secondly, my work schedule is such that for each event, I might be free for one day to work on PP (wow, when did flying planes become work. But it is work.). But that is not sufficient to get into Top 10. So I frequently abandon participating in the event altogether. Maybe if I can get 3 days free in a row, I'll do something serious about PP (and hope that that global event happens to fit more or less my setup :) )

    But still, work (oops, I mean fly) hard, boys and girls of TA1 crew :D

    As for the MORONS, I don't have C-130/concorde parts. But I have plenty of sequoias to contribute.

    And a few bear claw (is that the name of the plane?) to the one who wanted to start PP afresh with only bear claw planes.

    Let's keep these in reserve for the next bux only event. I figure there are quite a few people out there who'd like to donate, so we can try to make all of the upcoming bux only events into full plane events :)

    Cheers,

    @Castle

    I hear ya man. Work has been crazy for me too lately and there is no way I can get enough time to make a top ten run and if I am not going to e top ten then I usually just do the minimum.

    I attempted to reorganize my airline. Gathered a lot of bux in the Xi'an event and have 46 slots now. 32 Seqouia M, 2 cyclone M, 2 Concordes, and 10 Mapples.

    I find that with my play style I can do a lot more jobs with a swarm style fleet than with a fleet like this. The game was most enjoyable for me when I was running 40 mapples. But I traded most of those away.

    Like you, I too have been lurking the forums still. But I've done the 50 job minimum in the last few events.

    The forum seems to be getting slower. I've seen 12 hours go by with no new posts. This is somewhat expected. The game is around a year old now and with summer coming up in North America a lot of folks find other things to do, myself included. I too, would have probably quit a while back had it not been for the MOFOs.

    Before I started reading the forums, when I would get to around level 30 I would start my game over. I think I did this 4 times before the current game I have now which is level 48.

    Although I have been on this forum before, recently after the game was released, I stopped playing for a long time before recently starting playing again. I have no idea what this MOFOs thing is and whatever other acronyms there are now.

    Can someone explain please? Sorry :S

    Nice, thanks. After however many months away I noticed there was a lot to catch up on, including all those damn plane events that I now have none of and everyone else has tons. Where are my Mapples I ask you?
