My trusty iPhone quit on me today. Had to start over at level 1 on my mom's android tablet. Oh, Apple.
Thanks for the screenshots, that allowed me to fill in #5 and #9 in the spreadsheet. We're still looking for #7 ... anybody know who finished with 2001 jobs in Sydney?
Welcome Mitodna! Plane part sitting is how it's done during Global Events offering mystery parts. Yelto answered someone else's question about part sitting 2 posts above yours ... I've quoted it here for you:
My spouse took the IPAD out of town for a few days, so in by boredom I programmed this calculator to calculate the # of BUXs required to cash in to get some # of slots. It is no better than the spreadsheet, but it does avoid the possibility of eternal damnation. http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/God-Father/3299981
I finished 7th with 2001 jobs! In the post 16024 from vicsark you can see my last jobs ranking. GC: xgarriga
Awesome!!! Sorry I overlooked that, I didn't scroll back to his post from 9 hours before the end of the event. Well that completes the Top 10 ... we have finishers listed for the Top 16 plus 19, 25, & 41. Thanks! I'm sure some people would find the simpler interface less confusing.
MOFOs Down Under, Herculean edition You have to give it to NimbleBit this time. Finally an innovative event, and they didn't even have to upgrade the game. Sydney was Class 2, passengers-only, but if you didn't want to miss out on all those juicy C-130 parts, you had no choice but to use mixed planes. Which means that, given that Sydney is a Class 2 airport, the maximum amount of jobs you can deliver (bar mystery parts) is three. And as it turns out, delivering three jobs at a time to a place as remote as Australia makes for a different MOFO Top Ten than usual. Long story short, we have a brand new winner. His (her?) name is Popehatz, so another way to put it is we had white smoke coming out of the ole' MOFO chimney. Quite the plume, you might say, as the Popester delivered 5,685 jobs, almost double the next guy's, which happened to be good ole' Gus. Congratz 'Hatz, and welcome in our midst. Whenever you feel like it, don't be shy and introduce yourself. We're a nice crowd. Gus delivered almost 3,000 jobs, which is sort of saying that news about his death was greatly exaggerated, as Mark Twain would say. I'm still here and a force to be reckoned with, the message goes, and the Penguins and Ktcs of this world should consider themselves warned. Speaking of which, Ktc24 made the podium in third, only 60-odd jobs behind the Gusster, if not a photo finish then at least a close call. 'Zoo took 4th, and in 5th we have another newcomer: Elemdee, aka YourItGirl. She's now also our it girl, not least because very few people can claim that right on their MOFO debut they managed to stay ahead of... North! North, what happened? Here you have the opportunity to match Gus's four wins in a row and where do you end up? In 6th! (Which is even worse than 5th, as first claimed.) So this is what happens when the snows melt up there. The White Walker is a white walker no more. He is now a sludge trudger. Nevertheless, he trudged out more than 2,000 jobs to Down Under and we will undoubtedly hear more from him. North was followed by Lorena aka XGarriga in 7th, and Jmac in 8th. Tater came in 9th, and Vic completed the Top Ten, making the entry ticket for MOFO points this time 1,510 jobs, the lowest point since a long time. The Big Apple's influence on Vic apparently hasn't waned, as we still see him scoring points. He does this while making pessimistic noises about end games and such, and our little community is watching with more than a little trepidation whether we'll lose our Sheriff, but the MOFO Statesman & Herald thinks it's more bark than bite and we haven't seen the last of the Sarkster yet. Who are we missing? Penguin! Spineth! Faye! To name but a few. Sydney was what Sheriff Vic's countrymen would call a cimetière des éléphants, a graveyard for 800 pound gorillas. (Sheriff Vic's countrymen are a funny lot. But I digress.) Point is, some big names lost out here and the MOFOs are becoming a more competitive place by the day. We at the M S & H do not regret that, of course: if its sells newspapers, we love it. Special mention goes to a pleasant surprise in 11th, just outside the points: a TA1ster of the first hour, by the name of Rebartsch! Welcome back, old friend! We haven't seen you in a long time. Rebartsch's claim to fame, MOFO-wise, is a 4th place in the very first race that was recorded in the MOFO rankings, Paris almost six months ago. He came in 10th in Barcelona, and we basically haven't seen him since. Happy to have you back, Randy, and we wouldn't mind if you stopped lurking and started posting again as well! No pressure, though The effects on the 6th Silver Yoke's standings are not small: 1st: SlightlyNorth, 83 points (1st, 75); 2nd: ktc24, 63 (2nd, 48); 3rd: Tater, 28 (3rd, 26); 4th: Popehatz, 25 (nowhere, 0); 5th: Gus, 22 incl. one 2nd place (14th, 4); 6th: Nalazoo, 22 incl. one 4th place (13th, 10); 7th: XGarriga, 21 (8th, 15); 8th: Penguin, 20 (4th, 20); 9th: Spineth, 18 incl. one 5th and one 6th place (5th, 18). 10th: Jmac, 18 incl. one 5th and two 8ths (9th, 14). Top Three stay in place but out of nowhere there's Popehatz, popping up in 4th place. Is he a one-hit wonder? Or will we see more of him? Or her? Or it? Time will tell. Meanwhile, Gus got relegated to 5th, and shares the number of 22 points with 'Zoo in 6th, the order of which is determined by their highest placing, as indicated. Penguin, the polar bird that's so burnt out that we continuously find a trail of ashes wherever he goes, drops to 8th. On top of that, this has led to some questionable business decisions. The MOFO Statesman & Herald has learned from reliable sources that the Sooner Airline traded in a considerable part of its famous Mapple fleet for a couple of high-flying Concordes. This is what happens when you do things like that. We all wish Penguin a speedy recovery and hope he will be back in action soon. Mapples are welcome, y'all know his address! Spineth too undergoes the Penguin treatment. Not in sight for the Sydney rankings, and dropping 5 places to 9th. Is he burnt out as well? Will he recover? Stay glued to the M F & H, and all will be revealed! Finally, Jmac completes the Top Ten, losing one place. Vic 'Endgame' Sark drops just outside the Top Ten, 2points short despite a valiant effort. As stated before, just ignore his grumbling about endgames. We're not Sheriffless yet. One point behind him sits Castle, and one more point later we find Icon and Faye. Keep an eye on up-and-comers Yogi, with 12 points in 15th, and Elemdee aka Everybody'sItGirl, who debuts with 10 points. The 2nd Golden Sequoia has only 4 races to go. Has it been affected by this landslide too? Read on! 1st: Gus, 298 1/3 (1st, 280 1/3); 2nd: Penguin, 247 1/3 (2nd, 247 1/3); 3rd: North, 207 (3rd, 199); 4th: Nalazoo, 197 1/3 (4th, 185 1/3); 5th: Faye, 174 (5th, 174); 6th: ktc, 137 (6th, 122); 7th: Snowbird, 115 (7th, 115); 8th: Spineth, 105 (8th, 105); 9th: Tater, 99 (9th, 97); 10th: Castle, 85 (10th, 85). So there you go. No it hasn't. Couple of small differences, though. Gus has used Penguin's absence to increase his lead, making it really difficult to close the gap in the remaining four races. True, Penguin can still earn 100 MOFO points in these four races, but 1) is he up to it (and can he keep it up)? Then, 2) there can't be too many Papal hats in the ring, running interference; and 3) don't forget there's Gus himself. Sydney shows that if push comes to shove and Gus needs points to stay in the lead, he'll just whip out his Roo Swarm and go get 'em. In other words, in the humble opinion of this newspaper, if Penguin is not burnt out, he may still be toast. No pun intended, of course. Let's hope he's crusty enough to prove us wrong! Same goes for North. Can he still threaten the polar bird? Yes, he can. But the same applies to the Northster. Dark horses can run interference, and the Penguin can break out the Mapples. Or (gasp) Faye can be reawakened. Just to mention some of the endless possibilities in the rich world of MOFOs. But so far, everyone in GS2 stays put. Even Castle will be safe as long as Lynsie, who's still 5 points behind him, doesn't start flinging. Yitz, another 8 points lower down, seems to have silenced his Cyclones for now; but Jmac, just 19 points behind Castle, has just won 4 and can do better easily. Stay vigilant, Castle! Double the watch on the battlements! And with these words of warning, we turn our mind's eye to the Platinum Concorde. How's that shaping up? 1st: Gus, 479 1/3 (1st, 461 1/3); 2nd: Faye, 405 (2nd, 405); 3rd: North, 303 (3rd, 295); 4th: Ump, 288 (4th, 288); 5th: Penguin, 277 1/3 (5th, 259 1/3); 6th: Vic, 236 (6th, 235); 7th: Nokitano, 227 (7th, 227); 8th: Nalazoo, 226 1/3 (9th, 214 1/3); 9th: Snowbird, 221 (8th, 221); 10th: Castle, 184 (10th, 184). Same story as in the Golden Sequoia, except that here Nalazoo jumps Snowbird by a small margin. 6 2/3 Of a point really means very little, especially in the Concorde. Even Castle still holds tight, with Ktc 38 points behind him. So very little to report, for now. Do not worry, dear readers: this will change. But it'll take a bit of time, since we're approaching 50 races. Speaking about which, the next race after Xi'an will be a MOFO milestone! We should start thinking of a celebration. And with that, boyz and girlz, Merlion and the MOFO Statesman & Herald leave you again to some serious flinging in Chinese airspace. Cheers, M. EDITS: Various changes in the text to accommodate for some last minute SUCK changes.
@Merlion: "Courrier des lecteurs" a lot of fun reading the MOFO Herald as always Great reporting Rest assured though, that even if winter may be coming onto our screens, my -soon to be 64- planes will continue flying high for TA1 Also I'm afraid you didn't use the accurate final results from Sydney I, for example, finished 10th and not 7th. Not that I wouldn't use the extra points, I'd rather gain them on the sky dogfights. The spreadsheet may have been updated after your writing. I say, blame your intern/page for the mixup! Cheers, Vic from Paris
Yep, just saw that. I wrote the post a couple of hours ago but got drawn into meetings before I finished. Just quickly finished it off, pressed 'send' and only then saw a couple of post that hadn't been there before Unfortunately, running off to a dinner now, will come back in a few hours and edit the post according to the new info. Cheers, M.
Been using Vic's central hub strategy all day and so far it's a pretty enjoyable strategy. Slow paced if you want it to be an faced paced if that's what you want as well. As most know I used to run a mapple swarm but now I'm trying to get a large fleet of class 3 planes and use 10 mapples as delivery planes. I've been using Vic's strategy for around 4 hour now. It's nowhere near full potential since I only have 10 Seqouias and 2 concordes dedicated to it. I was out of bux since I used all I had to full upgrade all the mapples I used to have. But after doing that for a while I realized if I were going to continue playing I needed to revamp to avoid boredom. Using only 12 planes I've generated enough bux in only 4 hours to add 3 more planes to the cause. This helped a lot since the event is I. Asia and I only had 1 plane for LA, Chicago and Mexico City. More to come soon. Side note: I've gone from 60th to 26th in the crew so look out!
Lolol! I can't tell you how many times I thought to myself, "Gotta beat North!", until 90 mins before close when my eyes were so tired I could barely see. Well worth it!
Thks Penguin dude, but central hub strategy is not "my" strategy per se, it's been discussed here for a while I use it for class 3 events and it's pretty enjoyable. I like that you don't have to ask yourself any question: Just load any plane anywhere with event jobs and every Bux jobs available. Send when full to the event city. Unload Bux jobs in the event city. And I use a no brainer approach to load planes in the event city. Begin at the top of your plane list. First plane loads farthest city jobs (first to appear in the jobs list). second plane takes the next one and so on. Send when full with the 25% bonus. It does achieve both high job count and a lot of Bux while allowing a very fast pace as you don't ask yourself what to do. it's also easy to do casually while watching tv.
anyone else having trouble getting there game to load up after deleting the app? wanted to get back into this but my game isn't being found in the cloud.
I guess I'm doing a slight variation then. My planes correspond to a certain city. I'm up to 18 planes dedicated to the event now and my bux count is soaring. I've made over 1000 bux in around 5.5 hours.. I wonder if having each plane go back to a certain city is worth it or not. The Sequoia allows you to ignore the 25% bonus a lot. Example: my "LA2" plane just landed in Xi'An and it picked up two 8 bux jobs and two 9 bux jobs going back to LA as well as four coin flights to LA, one to NY and one to Paris. Took off back toward LA almost immediately after landing with 34 bux on board and coin profit to boot. This event is somewhat different than if it were in the center of the map. I have 1 Seqouia in Tokyo, Seoul, Guangzhou, Beijing, and shanghai and as soon as they land they pick up any bux job and the event jobs. In a way it's the same but with the close proximity I don't have to wait for the any bux jobs to make it seem worthwhile like I do sometimes with the planes leaving from LA. I can simply grab 8-9 events job and round trip them back in 7-12 minutes.
