Blimps Bux Strategy, revisited After seeing some questions and remarks about Blimps strategy, here's a step-by-step for those who might be interested. It goes like this:- 1. One starts out with having many airports open. I have around 100. For the bux strategy I find that it doesn't really matter whether these are Class 1, 2, or 3. The number of bux jobs you find scattered throughout the world seems to be correlated with the overall number of open ports, regardless of their size. 2. First part is a fleet that does the usual stuff, such as mainline jobs carrying from one far destination to the other; global events; and even traditional bux sitting. basically, any activity involving Class 2/3 planes carrying jobs over great distance, filled up for the 25% bonus. 2. One way to handle that is as follows: say I have a Sequoia sitting in LA. 2.1 I quickly go through the top of the jobs list and see 3 jobs for Tokyo. (It's hardly ever more, which is a consequence of having 100 airports open.) 2.2 Next, I go down the list and load up everything that's green. 2.3 If there's room left, fill up with the next airport on the way to Tokyo. So if you see Chicago, choose that; or else NY, or London, etc. 2.4 Send the plane off to that first stop; once there, throw out all the green and fill up with new green and end destination jobs, whichever applies; send off to next destination on board (or to nearest next airport, if only bux and end destination jobs); rinse and repeat. 2.5 The result is you've thrown out layover bux jobs along the way, and arrive at your destination with a 25% bonus. This generates a lot of bux jobs scattered all over the globe. Really a lot, if you have many airports. In fact, I don't even pick up ever bux job I see any more, just 3+ or even 4+ bux jobs, since I'm aiming to keep all Class 3 airports and strategic Class 2s filled up with about 2/3 of layover capacity. This leaves room for a quick unload/load (often the fastest way to redistribute pax/cargo in a waypoint) and/or headroom for extra layovers if needed. 3. Use Blimps to hoover up the bux layovers. This goes as follows: say, you have a Blimp sitting in NY. 3.1 Find 4 bux jobs in the same continent. Send off the Blimp. Don't bother about the 25%. If you send off a Blimp with 4 Australian/NZ jobs, this 'll bring you around 30 bux and it'll cost you all of 250-300 coins. 3.2 If you don't have 4 bux jobs in one continent, fill up with bux jobs along the way. In the NY to ANZ example, if you fill up with e.g. Dakar and Delhi, you'll still make 20+ bux. 3.3 Send the blimp on its way to its end destination in one go. 3.4 Once arrived, pick up any bux job in the end destination. These are often the biggies, 9-12 bus. 3.5 Fill up the Blimp with the nearest Class 3 jobs if available, and send it there. Once there, repeat from 3.1 onwards. I have on average 30 blimps (varying between 20-40) doing this. In the morning it takes 5 minutes to send all the blimps on their way; during the day you come back once or twice; and in the evening you send them away again for the night. That's 4x5 minutes that generate 1,000-2,000 bux per day. Up to 3,000 on a really active day. Sometimes I'm lazy and only do the bux hoovering. That's when you find out that after a few days the layovers thin out to about one third of capacity. So you do need a 'base strategy' as described under 2, that provides a steady extra supply. One caveat: for me it's ideal, but it comes with drawbacks. As a very wise soccer player in Merlion's home country once said: 'Every advantage has its disadvantage.' In this case, the disadvantage is you can kiss the top MOFO rankings goodbye, on account of having too many airports open. And you can't easily switch to, say, going all out on one event and then come back to this strategy, because it takes time to build up your layover reserve in all those dozens of airports. So like everything in life, it's a choice. Hope this helps! Cheers, M.
Yep, you found me out On more than one level, btw, as the original quote actually translates as 'Every disadvantage has its advantage.' I turned it around as it suited me better. Cruyff has some great quotes. My favourites, including the above, are 'If I wanted to be understood I would've explained better', 'the ball is round', and the most profound of all: 'The most difficult thing about an easy win is to make a weaker opponent fight badly.' Think about that one for a while. But not too long, because your brain will start to hurt Cheers, M.
lol. We have some enigmatic sentences from soccer players here too. My favorite one is from Eric Cantona : "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea." But Gary Lineker's one is the best ever :"22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win."[15] I remember going to Nederland /France game in Amsterdam for the Euro 2000. Good times
Here in the USA, the MLS players all pretty much say the same thing; "OWWWWW, I THINK HE BROKE MY ANKLE! I'LL NEVER WALK AGAI... Oh, he got a yellow card? Great, I'm going to trot over here now."
Holland's version of Yogi Berra? M the odds just swarmed towards you being a dude now...what grown chick is a soccer fan?
Yeah, they're professional actors in Europe too lol. I don't watch soccer anymore, only a few world cup or euro games every other year. It's pretty boring most of the time. But I've been watching the Superbowl every year since the Joe Montana 49ers era Btw they nailed it in Pixel People. you clone a soccer player by splicing 2 other dudes : sports star and... actor lol
You obviously don't watch European football. This reply is being typed by one. Whoever came up with that one is fill of win. (And another one for "You'll never splice alone".)
I'm starting late in this event. Are we really in 3rd place?! Oh well, time to program my blimps to make 12hr round trip flights.....destination: Sydney!
Why is there a #toucharcade1 and a #toucharcade flight crew? Like, is there any specific reasoning behind it?
TA is less active in the forums and less competitive as individuals. They have 4x the amount of people in TA than TA1. TA1 is a small group of really active players.
Vic's post about the differences between TA and TA1: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2610362&postcount=11492 We also have a friendly competition for leader board rankings, check out this post for more info on our MOFOs (Merlion's Official Formula One Rankings). http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2791801&postcount=15950 Links to a lot of interesting forum posts are enumerated in the 2nd link of my sig below.
Sydney Dozing off here and almost missed the leader board screenshot of my little corner of the world ... this was taken at 1 min.
