    Ok is this some sort of elaborate hoax, I haven't seen any mystery parts yet. Ah well will keep searching, i've got some cargo planes sitting at all my airports now so its just a case of wait and see.

    I saw a mystery part within the first minute of the new event! Been a bit slow since then but I am second in the leaderboard - enjoying it while it lasts. :D

    Strat for collecting parts in Sydney? New to this (kinda)

    Just switched over to TA1 team and was hoping for some help in setting up a swarm or whatnot for the Sydney/C-130 event. I'm currently clearing out most all of my layovers (spread across the globe) and plan to close everything except for EA and whatever else will help.

    Currently sitting on 36 slots, 27M-ish coins and 8k bux. Plenty of Mapples and willing to get more if needed. And of course a whole complement of Seq-M, Aero-M, etc.

    Primary goal is to collect enough parts for more C-130s than anyone should ever need, and of course to put my boredom to rest and help out the team. So any help you guys/gals could offer would be appreciated. I have no real sentimental connection to any of my current cities, so pretty much ready to do a complete overhaul and give it my best.

    Thanks!

    For strategies on finding mystery parts, check out these two posts by Vicsark (about previous global events with full plane prizes):

    http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2529069&postcount=8890
    http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2506282&postcount=8476

    In my opinion, collecting a large number of mystery parts AND registering a large number of global event jobs via the swarm method may be challenging.

    Ugh...Sydney advertising agency is the pits! Taking 5-6 refreshes to fill a Cyclone! What gives? Thinking I'm going to have to close everything in North America to up jobs.

    What is it they say? 1 mystery part to 100 jobs delivered or something like that?

    Well... I haven't touched PP in ::hours:: and just checked the leaderboard. I'm ranked #46 with a whopping 3 jobs! :D No mystery parts yet. LOL
    I guess we have 51 people participating so far, cuz that's what it shows at the bottom, #51 with 1 job delivered.

    It appears there is a lot of mystery part siting going on.

    TA1 is in 3rd, and a mere 20 job will get you inside the top 20 after 8 hours into a class 2 event.

    Personally, aside from the coolness factor I hate C130s.

    Although now that there is a way to have a fleet of them they work perfectly in a 2:1 ratio with Sea Knights. It would be cool to have a 15 C130 - 30 Sea Knight fleet.

    Big Apple, Big MOFOs

    Like always, it's the Big Apple that draws the big celebrities. New York was besieged by a star studded cast of TA1 heavies. And as a result the stakes were high. How high? Yea high. (I know, I did this before. But I like the expression, so bear with me here.)

    North took the cake with a staggering 18,622 jobs, leaving some of the good burghers of TA1ville scratching their heads how this was humanly possible. How does he keep it up? People kept asking. He obviously has a lot of stamina.

    Needless to say, next Friday evening in TA1ville North's dance card will be full of entries.

    Congratulations on behalf of the MOFO Statesman & Herald, Mr SlightlyNorth, for winning the New York race; completing the hat trick, something that's only been done once before (by Gus)*; and breaking the record for number of jobs in a single event, attaining true-blooded herohood. People have asked Merlion if a special title would be awarded for those who break the 15k limit, but the rules are strict: 'Hero' for breaking 10k in a Class 3 event; 'Superhero' when you do it in a Class 2; and 'Superduperhero' for doing more than 10k in a Class 1.

    Nevertheless, let us not belittle this achievement; it's quite the feat. We honour the North.

    The word 'star studded' was not used lightly. North was followed by an exhausted Penguin, who burnt out or not, still did manage to break the 10k limit as well. Congrats to the polar bird, who seems to come back into his own. Merlion would tip him for a top position in a future Class 1 event, were it not for the fact that he's been seen flogging some of his precious Mapple fleet for a Concorde or two. This is not going to break event records,Penguin! Trust me, I've been there.

    In Penguin's wake, in third place we saw someone who wasn't seen in those exalted regions for a looong time: none other than Sheriff Vic. Something in New York brought out the beast in Vic. Word has it that he was secretly aiming for a comeback win, but in present company this turned out to be impossible. Nonetheless, a very honourable third podium place it was, with 8,877 jobs. Congrats Vic!

    Vic was followed suit by Ktc, who missed the podium by a piffling 39 jobs. That's two Cloudliners and a bit, Ktc! Too bad, but there's always a next round. Spineth came in 5th, followed by TheFantasyIcon in 6th, with a personal best of 8,094 jobs. Yes people, we're talking 6th place and we still haven't hit 8,000! This was an amazing race.

    Tater came in 7th with 6,285, followed at some distance by Gus. In 8th place with 5,799 jobs, you can just see Gus thinking about the good old days when scores between 4-5,000 were good enough to give him one win after another. Those days are gone, Gus. It's table stakes now.

    'Zoo did 5,557 and got in 9th, and in 10th place we're seeing a small surprise: Nokitano, who we haven't seen in months. Last time was Pevek, where he scored a respectable 3rd place with 4,136 jobs. That's 300 less than he did now, and it got him 7 places more.

    Just outside the points were Faye, Sdo, Green Paper, Castle, the Godfather, Jmac, Lorena, the list goes on. A veritable pantheon of the good and great got left out in the cold. In one word: wow.

    But let's not dwell on this any longer, and have a look at the 6th Silver Yoke:

    1st: SlightlyNorth, 75 points (1st, 50);
    2nd: ktc24, 48 (2nd, 36);
    3rd: Tater, 26 (3rd, 20);
    4th: Penguin, 20 (12th, 2);
    5th: Spineth, 18 (9th, 8);
    6th: Vic, Castle and Lorena, 15, all with one 3rd place;
    9th: Faye and Jmac, 14, both with one 5th and one 8th.

    About North, 'nuff said. The hat trick puts him firmly in charge, by a country mile. Ktc still in 2nd, Tater in 3rd.

    Penguin fulfills the prediction that the MOFO Statesmen & Herald made in the previous edition. We referred to Icon being in an uncomfortable position with a predatory polar bird breathing down his neck. Turns out, it wasn't just Icon who should've felt uncomfortable. The Penguin jumped Icon and six others, to claim 4th.

    Spineth did well and jumped four places to take 5th; Castle and Lorena dropped two places as a result, and were joined by Vic. It's getting crowded in 6th.

    Faye and Jmac close the Top Ten ranks in shared 9th, with 14 points each.

    Icon was unlucky; he stayed just outside the Illustrious Ten, by a cat's whisker. He too has 14 points, but his highest ranking in SY6 was 6th in New York, whereas the other two scored 5th places, in Orlando and Baghdad. Don not despair, Icon! All is not lost.

    Yogi and 'Zoo sit right behind him, with 12 and 10 respectively. Then a long time nothing, followed by Gus, Sdo and Nokitano with 4, 2 and 1.

    On to the 2nd Golden Sequoia, which is slowly nearing its conclusion:

    1st: Gus, 280 1/3 (1st, 276 1/3);
    2nd: Penguin, 247 1/3 (2nd, 229 1/3);
    3rd: North, 199 (4th, 174);
    4th: Nalazoo, 185 1/3 (3rd, 183 1/3);
    5th: Faye, 174 (5th, 174);
    6th: ktc, 122 (7th, 110);
    7th: Snowbird, 115 (6th, 115);
    8th: Spineth, 105 (8th, 95);
    9th: Tater, 97 (9th, 91);
    10th: Castle, 85 (10th, 85).

    Few changes in the Top Ten. It may sound a bit repetitive, but North is still continuing his march and gains yet another place. With five races to go he still has a chance to catch up with both Gus and Penguin, and trust me he's capable of it. The Penguin has shown to still have quite a bit of life in him, but Gus will need to start movin' and shakin', or else. The MOFOs know no mercy.

    Penguin is now 33 points behind the leader. Getting a bit hot under the collar, Roo Man?

    'Zoo stays in place with a very strategic 2 points won in this race; Faye behind her holds 5th.

    Ktc wins a place and overtakes Snowbird, who now drops to 7th.

    Spineth, Tater and Castle are comfortable in their 8th-10th positions. Castle is relatively safe with Lynsie in 11th, 5 points behind him. She hasn't scored in a long time. Yitz and Jmac follow in 12th and 13th, with 72 and 62. Then a very long time nothing, with Vic next in line with only 35.

    Finally, the Concorde League (should be feeling right at home in the Big Apple):

    1st: Gus, 461 1/3 (1st, 457 1/3);
    2nd: Faye, 405 (2nd, 405);
    3rd: North, 295 (4th, 270);
    4th: Ump, 288 (3rd, 288);
    5th: Penguin, 277 1/3 (4th, 259 1/3);
    6th: Vic, 235 (8th, 220);
    7th: Nokitano, 227 (6th, 226);
    8th: Snowbird, 221 (7th, 221);
    9th: Nalazoo, 214 1/3 (9th, 212 1/3);
    10th: Castle, 184 (10th, 184).

    After 47 races you don't tend to see a lot of movement in the Concorde, race-over-race. But this time, there are two jumps: North moves up another place and hits the prospective podium; and Vic takes back two places.

    North is going strong, and seems unbeatable at the moment. If he keeps this up he will reach Faye in 5 more races, and Gus in 10. Will he? And will they let him? Time will tell.

    Vic shows what a shrewd sheriff is made of. At a critical moment he collects 15 valuable points and cements his place in the subgroup. He's a great example of what to do to stay in the top without running the risk of burnout: win early, then stay out of the fray but judiciously win a few points when it matters. Sheriff Vic is not to be messed with.

    Further down Castle is trying to do the same. He is making enough points to stay in the Top Ten. But he has to look over his shoulder more often: Ktc is approaching him at a frightening rate, and is now 52 points away.

    It goes to show, boys and girls: the MOFOs will always be an exciting place. Stay tuned!

    Cheers,
    M.

    *EDIT: In fact, Gus once won four and one third races in a row: Cancun; Manchester; Punta Arenas; Belfast; and Boston (shared, but let's not go there again). So if North wants to make history, he'll have to win Sydney and the next one as well. (Hint, hint.)

    Thks Merlion great read as always.

    Big up to SlightlyNorth for his amazing 18k victory :cool:

    I once calculated that the biggest number for a class 3 event with my 54 class 3 planes fleet was 25k. That being possible playing like 12h a day achieving 600 jobs an hour (600 * 12 * 3 1/2)
    Good risk of finishing insane though :D

    So Northdude, you were close! Is you felling bonkers mate?:D

    Edit : Didn't see ktc creep up on me like that, dude, you were close (I couldn't play in the last 6 hours)!

    Thanks green_paper! I hadn't seen those posts before and they were enough to kick my brain into a different gear and get things figured out.

    For anyone like me needing some ideas, here is what I've thrown together for a quick and sloppy approach:

    Manila serves as the central hub between Sydney and all of the Class 3 cities in EA. Each EA city has a dedicated Seq-M for collecting Bux/Mystery Parts. When they are full, they fly to Manila, dump the layovers then head back to their designated city.

    From Manila, the remainder of the fleet (a mix of Mapples and Aero-M, fully upgraded) flies directly to Sydney and then flies directly back. Most of these flights still produce a coin profit. I also have Mapples doing the same thing between Sydney and Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane.

    A lone upgraded Fogbuster flies between Guangzhou and Manila to keep the layover slots filled. This method is much less tedious than my previous bux-sitting and easily allows a quick scan of each MP sitter at every job refresh.

    So far, with a slow start I'm bouncing around in 5-7th place and have collected 13 or so parts. Hope to help keep TA1 in the running!

    Thanks for the MOFO update, I always look forward to reading them on Thurs & Sun. :)

    Well I've finally started thinking about rearranging my fleet for Sydney. My Sea Knights & Roos just took off on their 2.25 to 2.5 hr flight toward Sydney. Guess I'll just hunt down some coffee and check back on them later.
