It's for the top 1000 crew. As long as you've done at least 5 jobs for this event, you'll be entitled to the prize (first prize, at the rate we're at now)
Be careful when you close down your unnecessary Class 1 airports. If there are people or cargo waiting on a layover for those destinations they will be trapped forever, taking up layover slots. I just re-opened Prague temporarily because I felt bad for my two little guys stuck in Istanbul for 2 days. I wish there was an easier way to scan your airports for layovers.
New York, Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles. This way every plane can reach every stop in nearly a straight line, so its very easy to combo. If I had any more planes, or even more class 2 planes instead of class 1, there wouldn't be enough jobs, but with my current setup of planes it works ridiculously well. I'm almost level 14 (13.5) and I've been saving bux so I will soon replace most of my class 1s with pearjets and then buy a few more class 3 airports. Pearjets can do nonstop New York to London, right?

You can see your layovers from the main map, the number of layovers is listed next to the population of the city with an L. For example, San Fransisco 4.3M 1L (I have one person waiting there) Hope this helps
Actually it's not profit, but total value including bux. (So you could run a negative profit flight and still gain XP.)
Actually you can release people/cargo from layover spots by clicking the little x on them in the jobs listing, so you don't have to reopen an airport if someone gets left behind.

I know, right? Being a geography major, I love these kinds of games. I would take the population figures with a grain of salt though... Mexico City has WAY more than 8.9 million people.
Fully upgraded range Pearjets can reach NY to London (so x3 fuel tank upgrade bux on top of the cost of pearjets)
If you dont have the range for one plane, you can send it to the nearest airport closest to your destinatio, unload the cargo/passenger, and have another plane come and pick up the cargo/passenger.
Another little tip for anyone that's listening. The Pearjets cost a lot more to operate than the Birchcrafts. To minimize expenses, let Birchcrafts cart people around to their layover points, and reserve the Pearjets for taking full loads of single-destination layovers. Maybe this idea will be helpful.
So I am off in a little crew with friends - i am up to around 1250 jobs into Brisbane (not sure how many, the numbers only update sporadically). Goddam class 1 airport. I am funneling everything into Sydney with Pearjets then have a few Mohawks doing shuttle runs to Brisbane. The one big hub approach is great. I am using Jakarta, upgraded it, and using it as a staging ground. Have Birchcrafts collecting and delivering all over Asia, dropping back into Jakarta. Course I got boned when Jakarta had a storm oh well, had to open Singapore... This game is awesome!
Yes, but I'll advise you to wait up till lvl16 to unlock the aeroeagle (78 bux), although they're slower they have a capacity of 6 which is better.
