Elmo don't sweat sending back...I'll send you 2 engines too! That way you have the sk on both Yelto- Squalid is good like that, prob gave you a big time hook up, right?
Given your number of planes (around 50? you have 50 plane slots?), you're ready to do bux sitting if you have 20+ slots. There are roughly two main classes of strategies amongst the active forum posters here: - bux sitters, class 3 airports only (more or less) (e.g. Vic, myself and some others) - those whose fleet are dominated by class 1 planes (e.g. Merlion, Gus, penguin etc.) So I'll speak based on my experience on bux sitting mainly from class 3 airports. 1. Regardless of strategies, we do not use pearjets and fogbusters. They are very expensive to fly. Fogbuster's range is smaller, it can only carry 8 P/C, and it's expensive. When you are short of bux/coins, go with sequoias - they are cheap which is an important consideration since in bux sitting, your plane will be collecting bux jobs for all kinds of cities so 25% same city bonus is very unlikely. When coins do not matter (i.e. you have plenty of coins), you can upgrade to cyclones which are 12 P/C, slightly longer range than sequoias and faster. Pearjets are faster than areoeagles, but they are very expensive to fly. I had a number of pearjets but retired all of them now. I use mainly class 3 planes. If the global event is a class 2 city, I'll use areoeagles. 2. what airports do you have? I assume that you have the airports for the long distance flights e.g. LA to Tokyo/Seoul/any red cities on the far east, or say Lima to Jakarta or some other combination. Transatlantic flights - sequoias, cyclones and cloudliners can cross the transatlantic (Paris/London to New York). Areoeagles can cross London -> New York with max range upgrade. Sequoias's range is just nice for Tokyo - Tehran. My route is Tokyo - tehran - London/Paris, NY, LA. Vic prefers Seoul ... he mentioned some one hop from can't rmb where to Seoul. In the southern hemisphere, I fly Lima - Kinshasa - Jakarta. These require sequoia+5%, but cyclones can make it without upgrade. I upgraded to sequoia+15% so that they can fly NY - Kinshasa and Lima - London/Paris. There are shorter crossings from Rio/Sao Paulo but I don't have these cities so can't comment much. You can check the distances using rustysnowman's trusty calculator: http://www.therustysnowman.com/proj/pocketplanes.php Check my links for the strategies that PP players have detailed. Have fun with PP.
Snowbird is going to have her chance to unseat me from my shaky 4th position. I have "real work" to do,this coming weekend. I vend at scrapbook crops, events where scrapers come to work on their photo albums. I teach scrapbooking, stamping, techniques, and more. I leave on Thursday and get home late Sunday. I'll do what I can...thought you'd like to know so you don't get worried How will this affect the MOFO rankings? We'll just have to wait and see.
> Hmmm, if it wasn't you, who was it? Reveil yourself mystery santa! Lol, i guess that's me. Hope the little plane was useful!
Nice. How many planes is that? I'm burned out on flinging planes, wasn't very inspired to work Adelaide.
Adelaide Top 7-15 Guess there wasn't much interest in this event. Who is the #7 UNKNOWN with 1923 jobs? The cake scene at the beginning of Men in Black 3 kept coming to mind during this event
Disgust with PP Two things that I'm not happy with PP: 1. The random timing of last update. Snowbird's jobs was updated some x minutes before end time. My number of jobs remained stationary for at least 10-15 minutes before Snowbird's job update. During these 10-15 minutes, I had cleared at least a batch of jobs (i.e. finished depositing cakes at Adelaide and are on their way back). Why is it that PP chooses to freeze my job count and Snowbird's job count at different times??!!! I have nothing personal against Snowbird. In fact, I'd like congratulate her for flinging 200 jobs in a such a short time. That's no mean feat. Of course it's entirely possible that some more unfortunate soul got his/her job counter frozen even before me. But this random job count freeze is making competition unfair. 2. PP crashing. I haven't heard of anyone complaining of PP crashes recently so I assume that your PP is fine. Mine is not ... it crashes about every 5 - 10 minutes. I.e. PP doesn't run continuously for more than 2 job refresh cycles. I'm on iPad 2, running on iOS 5.1.1 Anyone else having the same problem? 2.5 PP tends to "stick" a lot. I.e. when I'm scrolling through the job list, it will sometimes momentarily freeze before moving on. When recovered from the "freeze", sometimes I find that it had mistaken my tap to scroll as "select all jobs of a particular city" so I have to spend additional time to de-select those jobs. Thankfully PP launches quite quickly (say compared to a desktop or laptop reboot). But still, it's quite annoying.
New event: take 50 Rodeo jobs to Murmansk (northwestern Russia) and you get 40 Bux on Sunday in return. (The 40 Bux are if your crew finishes in the Top 10. If it finishes between 11 and 100, you get 20 Bux; crews 101 or lower gets you 10 Bux.)
Hey Castlepage, good on you for pulling a fast catch up on me! I was sure you had me beat. In fact with the issue you noted, you may have, who knows :/ I noticed the same thing, where I knew I did a bunch of jobs but my number didn't update and I saw yours did (about 30-40 mins prior to finish). I also noticed it once or twice between this event and the previous one. I think it's a fairly new issue as I have never noticed it before, only recently. Anyone else? Also I was going to mention yesterday it felt like the job counts weren't updating more than once an hour or so. But by the time I finally got a chance to sit down and play, it seemed to be updating regularly again (every 15-20 mins or so). Re crashing and sticking: I'm also on iOS 5.1.1 on an ipad2, and I think I'm one version behind in PP (v.1.1.1). Crashing..yeah.. it happens. It sucks. I wonder if the ipad3 or ipad4 do any better? The sticking I have managed to work around with this: anytime my game sticks while I'm scrolling through job, I quickly do a scroll on the left hand side of the screen and wait. The app seems to pick up on the last gesture it's given. If I scroll on the right (over a job button) it may accidentally pick up or drop all jobs instead.
@Penguin - always an impressive sight to see all those planes headed out! Thanks for sharing. @Castle - you are not the only one plagued by PP hiccups. It's like that noise when you take your car in to be worked on...it's making this noise....no, I don't know where. Yes, it's drivable...just annoying! * Scrolling issue - yes, happens to me after 3 or 4 refresh cycles, or if I'm going through a number of planes checking for BUX. * Crashes - I'm playing on an iPhone, iOS 6.01. I've noticed that as the scrolling gets worse, then there's a threat of crashing. I also notice it happens more when I'm about to send a plane flying (after fully loading). Crashing also seems to happen MORE when I've been accessing other applications. This leads me to believe this is a memory error. I find it I force quit all other applications (home button to bring up quick switch, then hit the minus bar to close)...PPs plays just fine! *Leader Board updates - this is VERY frustrating!! When Gus, Penguin and I were all aiming for 10,508 jobs...I would fling planes and kept trying to see where I was at. I ended up doing research and finding out that the Leader Board is tied through Game Center and that it can take up to ONE HOUR for the two to get synced! I ended up going to dinner & giving the two systems time to sync, then manually counted the jobs from there. I hit 10,508 with 45 minutes to go and then...waited, and waited, checking the Leader Board...praying it would update. In the last few minutes it finally synced...whew. Why isn't there a way to force a sync? I've tried logging out of Game Center, then back in to see if I could force it to sync...alas...it seems to have a mind of its own.
