My case is weird, because I spent the majority of level 11, 12, and 13 not spending anything, so I could afford to make 4+ upgraded Pearjets almost immediately and buy up Madrid, Paris, Tehran, Dhaka, and Beijing all in one go. And so far it's working very well. I'd say your strategy should be to continuously buy up more and more major airports heading out East towards Guangzhou, so you can start to rack up those huge bux rewards from doing trans-Eurasian flights.
I'm excited by this. Reading this thread has made me realise how small time my strategy has been! It's also made me realise that, at 4AM, i'm not awake with fellow englishman - i'm just a pissed up englishman talking to americans! Bookmarked thead. I shall resume discussions tomorow when i've bought paris!!
Honestly the strategy started as I tried to move away from having so many airports grouped together, then when I saw how many more jobs the bigger airports had I thought I'd see if I could get it to work with just reds once I hit level 10.
You've destroyed my soul - in a good way. Being level 10 and having 1 x class 3, 1 x class 2 and countless, cruddy class 1 airports is making me regret my strategy!! Do you get anything back if you close an airport? So far I have: 10 x class 1 airports 1 x class 2 airport 1 x class 3 airport 8 x class 1 planes 1 x class 2 plane (in hanger)
what a coincidence! my name's jay too! It is a good guide though. Wish i'd read one before I played. Why aren't I asleep yet?
You do get half of what you spent there. Both in buying and in upgrades. But if you later buy the airport back any upgrades you do are lost (for say an event later or something).
Cheers guys. Might have to have a bit of a re-think tomorrow. Seems like the kind of game that you can't really have a quick strategy change, but seems like it might be worth it in the long run. On a separate note - has anybody noticed that the faster the plane, the more coins / bux you earn when 'watching' the flight?
Yup, On that note, what happens to a flight that in enroute to an airport that gets shutdown due to an event?
Sounds good to me. I can say that focusing on the global event in Brisbane has had a major influence on how I'm playing right now. I started in Australia, and when global no. 2 fell in my back yard, I've attacked it like a swarm of bees. If there was no global event, I have no doubt I would have extended well into mainland Asia by now. But I am very glad they implemented events into this game. TT never provided this spirit of competition that events and leaderboard provides.
The events thing does tempt me a lot. Think I just dropped onto a bad times, starting in Europe (before I knew the game at all), then noticing the events in Brisbane. Thought it would be more beneficial to get myself going in Europe before blowing money on a couple of airports across the globe. Looking forward to what that adds to the game! Typically, the overall leaderboards have been ruined by cheaters / bots, but it's still awesome.
The plane will land fine, but will be stuck there until the event ends. Hopefully the 24 hour events like the fog in Atlanta will be few and far between.
That just happened to me. Mohawk approached Jakarta and didn't immediately go to the airport screen. I flipped to another craft, then back and my plan was sitting there as the rain was driving in at a45 degree angle. Looks like stuck here for tropical storm for a while....
Here are some tips IMO: 1) the SHORTEST your flight, the MORE you earn 2) Priority for choosing distination (Profit-oriented): i) choosing passanger with bux ii) choosing distination with bonus (i.e. same distination) iii) choosing distination with higher airport class (it depends on your plane nature, if your plane has low capacity, for example 2P or 2C, you can ignore this rule. But if your plane is higher level with more capacity, like 3P or 2P2C, you goals is to fill your plane with bonus in the next flight, you need a higher airport class.) iv) choosing distination with shortest path (i.e. the lowest option in the list, coz tips 1) Personally, I am not a fan of overlays as I am localized avation tycoon based in Asia. Maybe I will discover more if I turned into a inter-continental one.
Yeah, that is what happened to me. OH well, it's just for an hour. And @jdrawmer, just buy two airports in Australia for the event, that is what I did, well three airports, and I have two planes just doing Australia. I originally was going to sell the ports when I get done, but I think I might expand and just run two regional airliners, AUS and US.
Because of this thread, i've started utilising the layovers and it does seem to work really well. I never really understood it before, but for me now, it seems to work best when you take somebody on your journey to a smaller airport, giving yourself that additional option on the next flight. Seems pointless at bigger airports where there will naturally be a lot of options anyway.
That sounds like a good idea. It's only for another day (i believe?) but in this game, that's quite a lot of benefit. The downside i've read about the events is that if you join the most popular one, you gain the most benefit - even if you don't contribute, which seems a bit silly. Hopefully they can update that. The one i've read that is most popular is toucharcade (if you enter that in the Flight Crew bit)
Question: What is weight for? And how do you "get" your planes into the hangar, (out of active service)? Is there a place that I can find to answer these questions? Meh stupid... Add me- vericguo EDIT: Found out how to remove them *facepalm*
