    So..i discovered a major flaw in the way I've been playing. I've been going with the more class 3 cities open, the more bux I can collect. The major problem I discovered today is that when you grow tired of bux sitting and want to play an event, you really can't. The theory is that you are best with a bunch of cities close to the event both for proximity and speed. Well...try doing that with 23 cities open. Great for bux collecting, great for MASSIVE amounts of layovers in an event, and absolutely horrible for loading planes. So now I am left to figure out whether to close all but a few even though they are all class 3 fully upgraded, meaning i spent a ton. Or, do i sit bux collecting for the next month and forget completely about the events. 23 slots now.
    I REALLLLY would appreciate your guys and gals help on this one!

    Get to 15,000 bux and exchange.. Should get you 35 slots or so. More than enough to compete in this place. I'm using 5 planes for this event..

    Belfast MOFOs: final results

    Final results are in, and lo and behold, there are a few surprises!

    1st: Gus, 6,278 jobs;
    2nd: Faye, 5,879;
    3rd: Penguin, 5,240;
    4th: Snowbird, 5,192;
    5th: Nalazoo, 3,844;
    6th: Number1Ump, 3,677;
    7th: SlightlyNorth, 3,063;
    8th: Lynsie, 2,363;
    9th: Spineth, 2,062;
    10th: el Carmo Grande, 1,497.

    Podium consists of the Usual Suspects: Gus Rules the Roos(t), Faye Runaway, and Super "Don't Mess With Me" Penguin.

    Snowbird was already on a strong run, but alas, she missed the podium by 48 jobs. That's 8 Aeroeagles, Leapin' Liz! Nalazoo follows at some distance and grabs 5th.

    But then we seem some old friends popping up. Ump and North made a late run and show up in 6th/7th! Welcome back, guys! Podium's beckoning. We can't wait to see you make a run for it.

    Lynsie, Spineth and el Carmo Grande make up the last trio of the ten that received MOFO points this time. Too bad for Stogie Jerry, who stopped just 5 jobs short of El Carmo.

    5th Silver Yoke, standings after two races:

    1st: Gus, 50 points;
    2nd: Penguin, 33;
    3rd: Faye, 26;
    4th: Snowbird, 22;
    5th: Spineth, 17;
    6th: Nalazoo, 14;
    7th: Yitzhak, 12;
    8th: Number1Ump, 8;
    9th/10th: ktc24 and North, both 6 with one 7th place result.

    Gus 'The Swarm' reigns supreme at the moment, with one first place after another; Penguin follows in his wake. Faye holds steady, with Snowbird right behind her. But Spineth, 'Zoo and Yitz are not far behind either. With 7 races to go, nothing is decided.

    Ump and North, welcome in the rankings, you clearly heard the call!

    2nd Sequoia Cup, standings after 11 races: (previous in brackets)

    1st: Gus, 236 points (1st, 211);
    2nd: Faye, 136 (2nd, 118);
    3rd: Penguin, 128 (3rd, 113);
    4th: Nalazoo, 114 (4th, 104);
    5th: Tater, 71 (5th, 71);
    6th: Lynsie, 58 (6th, 53);
    7th: Snowbird, 50 (8th, 38);
    8th: Jmacjmac, 48 (7th, 48);
    9th: RoboBoto, 30 (9th, 30);
    10th: CastlePage, 26 (10th, 26).

    Not many changes here. Snowbird passes Jmac, but the rest are unchanged. The first four are clearly separated from the rest. Lynsie is creeping up behind Tater, who has to do something lest he gets left in her wake.

    Interesting is what happens right behind Castle, though. Nokitano and Spineth sit right behind with 25 and 23 points. Ump now has 21, as has ktc24. And Boomer has 20. Expect many changes to happen at the tail end of the Sequoia Top Ten.

    Finally, the Concorde League standings:

    1st: Gus, 417 points (1st, 392);
    2nd: Faye, 367 (2nd, 349);
    3rd: Ump, 286 (3rd, 278);
    4th: Nokitano, 226 (4th, 226);
    5th: Vic, 210 (5th, 210);
    6th: Penguin, 158 (7th, 143);
    7th: Snowbird, 156 (6th, 144);
    8th: Nalazoo, 143 (8th, 133);
    9th: Castle, 125 (9th, 125);
    10th: Copper metallic, 122 (10, 122).

    Gus and Faye have pretty much nailed themselves to the top two places. Ump is showing resolve in defending third.

    Penguin is steadily advancing and has reached 6th. He's doing on average 15 points per event, so if Vic and Nokitano won't galvanise into action at some point, Penguin will be all over them like a cheap suit before you can say 'Roo'.

    At the tail end, Coastcat sits 5 points behind Copper; and North has just narrowed his distance to Copper by 6 points, to 15. We could see either of the three in the Top Ten soon, unless Castle keeps up his habit of throwing in 10 or 15 points every once in a while.

    In other words, keep flinging, and watch this space!
    Cheers,
    M.

    For a Fistful of Bux

    The situation turned out to be interesting indeed. How did it unfold? Here's a brief report of what happened in TA1ville during the next action-packed seven days.

    The strangers lived up to expectations. Thanks to their superior firepower, TA1 quickly gained the upper hand in its continuing rivalry with Big Brother TA. But the good citizens of TA1ville were not happy with the results. First there were celebrations and a lot of shoulder slapping. But soon the little community was rife with rumours. Did the hired guns play a fair game? Was TA1ville made an accomplice in illicit activities?

    FantasyIcon, who ran the saloon, was the most vocal. He'd been observing the strangers closely, as they parked themselves at the corner table in his saloon. Others chimed in. These guys are cheats, and they're implicating us! Something should be done about this.

    Soon the situation became untenable. Icon was brooding behind the bar, refusing to serve drinks to the gunslingers. The strangers themselves had gotten hold of a bottle of whiskey and passed it around, seemingly unaffected by the commotion around them. Their thumbs were almost impossible to follow with the naked eye as they kept whizzing around on their phone screens.

    Sheriff Vic dropped by once more and tried to keep the situation from escalating, trying to convince Icon that this was part of life and let it go, leave it to the TA Federales. Icon would have nothing of it, and you could see the atmosphere was tense when Sheriff Vic left and Icon made him pay for his drinks for the first time ever. A mob gathered outside, and somebody mentioned Vic's French ancestry.

    Gus and Penguin were standing to the side, trying to decide if it was time to bring in some of Penguin's wildcatter friends. Icon was starting to fear for his furniture.

    The situation finally got defused when the newspaper came out. Merlion, who ran the local MOFO Statesman & Herald, wrote an editorial declaring that the paper's published competition from now on would only be open to those who played by the rules. This prompted the strangers to saddle their horses, holster their handphones, and ride away in the setting Sun. One stayed, handed in his guns, and vowed to stay in the community. All went back to their business of flinging planes. Fortunately the next event was St Paddy's Day, which was an excuse for Faye to bake a cake and most of the guys to get drunk.

    Shortly afterwards all was forgiven and forgotten, and TA1ville got back to being a peaceful little town in Flatland's Wild West.

    lol

    What the local herald didn't know, was that sheriff Vic had had psychology training at the french Sorbonne for the federales!
    At town meetings, the local hero Gus told him he smelt sthg funny, meeting was called with a few of the town notables.
    Casual iterrogation at the saloon didn't work, and saloon owner Icon started to stir things up. Forks and torches were being gathered as thousand of jobs miraculously appeared.

    So he tried throwing a line in the water: Detailing all the known previous attempt by gunslingers to derail a leaderboard, emphasizing the fact that it was all about sending the damned planes. Maybe the ego of the leader of the serial plane flingers would entice him to expose their evil (though cunning) doings. And the bait was taken almost immediately.

    As he was trying to prevent a massive hanging of the strangers by the angry crowd lead by the sanguine saloon owner Fantasyicon (who was the first to call BS, screenshot below, notice the penguin at the far right), Sheriff Vic was not helped by his French ancestry.
    Hopefully, local herald Merlion jumped on his soap box and calmed everyone with some good senses words. Most of the strangers left town harshly, regretting they couldn't convert TA1 to their dubious but effective tactics.

    Now all the town could go back to its usual plane flinging in Boston, local hero Gus taking the lead as usual, using solely his thumbs and free time.

    ;)

    I am trying to have Mac OS run on a virtual machine using my new laptop, if i succeed a new dawn of mapples may be upon us, but i wont be using hacked bux to get them, only legal ways. -380 bux now aiming to 11000- (Semi legal because of virtualization of a pirated OS, but meh)

    I have 21 slots with 18 cities all class 3 except Bos & Madrid. I'm using the modified Flysher bux strategy using the Par-Lon hubs . I simply made NY a western hub with a pair of Seqs (1 Seq-P/1 Seq-C) as shuttles between the hubs and NY. Also allows for fault tolerance if one goes down.

    Asia bux go to the hubs and the Americas bux go to NY with shuttles as necessary.

    I have a Seq-M for most airports sitting for bux, MPs and event collections. Any city in reach of Bos can have an Aero to go back an forth. Otherwise I continue to as usual. I generally bypass bux under 3 unless there is a noticable shortage. Hope this helps you keep bux and MPs high!

    Thanks for sharing! My son is going to the GDC in SF. When he was in college, his game went to Indicade & was in the Top 10 - game was Sowlar, written his Freshman year at DigiPen Institute of Technology.

    He now works at Zindagi in Camarillo, California - they make PlayStation Move games.

    @PondusFM - parts received, thank you very much!

    @Merlion - your gift of words and stories is always a good read, that and the MOFO standings are awesome!

    @FantasyIcon - I hear ya! A long time ago, I thought the goal was to open As many airports as possible...silly me. I went on a mission to scale down & close all Class 2 airports. To do that effectively, I made a chart - column with list of all open airports, then the rows had a list of the layovers for the other airports. It took time, but I was able to then use that to deploy planes to the needed airports to pick up remain inning BUX jobs and get them delivered. I focused on one or two airports at a time...closing after all BUX layovers for those airports were delivered. Happy bonus - you may have LOTS of BUX just laying around and find that as you go through this exercise that you will end up with the 15k BUX you need. Remember Vic's advice to check the spreadsheet and figure out how many BUX you need to increase slots.

    Another way to go about closing airports - something I've been doing now that I only have Class 3 airports left - start at furthest point, say Los Angeles, and pick up for Seoul. Only out those jobs and fill with coin jobs to the next airport - say New York. So plane has BUX for Seoul and COINS for New York. Pick up other Seoul BUX jobs, fill with coin jobs for London. Repeat as needed until plane is full and headed for Seoul. In this way, I've been able to clear many layovers and begin closing Class 3 airports.

    You can also "relocate" the BUX layovers, bringing them all to London/Paris, or in this event New York. Focus on closing ONE airport, then every time you send a plane anywhere, pick up all the BUX jobs for the airport you want to close, plus event jobs. Head to New York, then to your final destination...or somewhere close if the BUX jobs are for a Class 2 or lower airport.
