Thank you! I kinda wish the forum was a little like Facebook, so we can click "like" to acknowledge a post without cluttering up the forum with a reply. It has been so nice all leaderboard spots populated with names (no blanks) for this event and the previous one.
Spring Break MOFOs All right, Ladies and Germs. The chips are down, the game is up. The ball has dropped and it is rien ne va plus in the Pocket Planes world. While we're eagerly awaiting the next event, let's not tarry and go right down to the standings. First, the monthly league, with only one race to go. And we already have a Champion! It is none other than Gus, the 4th winner of the Silver Yoke and the first to be officially given one. For the next month, Gus will have the unalienable right to display 'TA1 Silver Yoke' in his signature. The complete classification (Pevek between brackets): 1st, and Champion: Gus, 148 points ;(1st, 130) 2nd: Faye, 89 points (2nd, 75); 3rd: Penguin, 82 points (4th, 67); 4th: Nalazoo, 71 (3rd, 71); 5th: Oamoam, 68 (6th, 43); 6th: Tater, 67 (5th, 63); 7th: Lynsie, 45 (8th, 39); 8th: Jmac, 44 (7th, 42); 9th: RoboBoto, 28 (9th, 28); 10th: Snowbird, 24 (10th, 24). Congratulations to Gus, for the deserved win. Behind him, a fierce fight is still going on for 2nd place. Nalazoo has dropped to 4th, but she too still has a chance to make the podium. And don't underestimate Oamoam (ever), because he too still has a chance. If he wins again and Penguin scores 1 point or less, he'll be third. So Penguin, be warned! The last one with a podium chance is Tater, now in 6th, but it is a theoretical one. Behind him Lynsie pips Jmac, and Robo and Snowbird remain in place. Let it be noted, though, that Nokitano is only two points behind Snowbird! Note that these are also the current standings for the 2nd Golden Sequoia, the quarterly cup, as this is the first month in that quarter. On to the overall standings, the Concorde League: 1st: Gus, 329 (1st, 311); 2nd: Faye, 320 (2nd, 310); 3rd: Ump, 277 (3rd, 277); 4th: Nokitano, 223 (4th, 223); 5th: Vic, 209 (5th, 209); 6th: Snowbird, 130 (5th, 130); 7th: Copper, 122 (7th, 122); 8th: Coastcat, 117 (8th, 117); 9th: Penguin, 112 incl. 1st in Al Fashr (11th, 97); 10th: Castle, 112 incl. 2nd in Pevek (10, 100). Gus and Faye increased their leads, behind them nothing changes for 3rd-8th. None of these people scored any points today, and their lead over 9th/10th is still sufficient to maintain place. But not for long. A life-and-death fight is taking place in 9th/10th, where Penguin and Castle are neck-and-neck. Penguin has the upper for now, since his 1st in Al Fashr trumps Castle's 2nd in Pevek. But the difference is very small, not only in the Concorde rankings but also in the Cancun results, with only a couple of jobs difference. If they keep at it, soon they'll overtake Copper and Coastcat and it'll be a fight for 7th/8th. And who knows what the farther future will bring? Can't wait Last but not least, let's not forget to pay attention to what's happening further down the list. Oamoam has moved from 23rd to 20th and now has 68 points, all scored in the last three races. At this rate he'll make the rankings in two events' time. And even further down, a new danger for the top players is lurking. For Oamoam's friend ZJZKim made his presence known for the first time. He scored 8 points and occupies 46th place in the Concorde League of All Time. This is an interesting situation. It's a bit like this: TA1 is a sleepy little town in the Wild West. The peace loving and hard working citizens have a rivalry with the nearby town of TA, of which they're a spinoff. And then, one day, a group of gunslingers rides into town. Their body language, fast horses and well oiled guns tell the good citizens of TA1 that these newcomers are not to be messed with. The good news is that they'll give TA1 the upper hand in some of their fights with TA. But what else is this going to mean for the little community? The strangers occupy a table at the far end of the saloon. They keep to themselves. Their pilot's caps are pushed forward over their brows, but from underneath you can see their eyes scanning the surroundings. The burghers of TA1 eye them from a distance. Sheriff Vic saunters in and asks the strangers a couple of casual questions, but doesn't get much of an answer. Who are these people? Do they mean well? To be continued... Cheers, M.
I have to say one thing about the current global event: I'm surprised they know that us Brits celebrate Mother's Day today rather than in May (like they do in America). Although I suppose this means that a St Patrick's Day celebration in Belfast won't be happening now (since that's on Saturday). Edit: And what's this about you Yanks putting your clocks forward now? We don't do that until the end of the month.
First I completely took it as a joke I was lmao. I was trying to egg on the rest of the peanut gallery, and was suprised no one else gave it to me for being a doofus!! Second it is a hog...but I love my pp and can't afford an iPhone, so....
Thank you Merlion, for the MOFO results. It was solely for the sake of not falling completely out of sight of the Concorde cup that I played Cancun. Alas, my last 15 minutes' or so playings were not captured by the leaderboard And now, a little entertainment from the TA1 broadcasting station. This is Castlepage, host of the TA1 Gossip Corner. In the past week, the most hotly debated topic was the gender of M or Merlionine. It sparked off when one of the TA1 forum posters refer to Merlionine as "she". Since then, forum posters have been speculating on Merlion's gender. Before we turn over to our expert analyst, Dr. TooMuchTime, let us first hear the callers' opinions. CallerA: I think Merlion is a guy. Girls are usually not interested F1 racing. They won't know the F1 rules of the game enough to apply to MOFO. CallerB: Oh I think Merlion is a girl. The GC name is Merlionine ... "ine" usually is a female version of a name. E.g. Clement/Clementine, Paul/Pauline, Joseph/Josephine. (Oh yes, a google search reveals that Valentine is supposedly a unisex name, so now Faye Valentine's gender is up in the air ...) CallerC: Well, Merlion's writing doesn't sound girlish. Plus, if you have seen the merlion, it has a lion's head and a fish body. The lion's head is certainly a male lion's complete with mane. Why would s/he adopt a male mascot if s/he is a girl? CallerD: Did you see Merlion's recent posts? S/he now has identify confusion and wrote to Aunt Agony. Which guy do you know writes to Aunt Agony? Merlion must be a girl. Castlepage: Thank you, callers A, B, C and D for your insights. And now, let us hear from Dr TooMuchTime. Dr. TooMuchTime: Thank you Castlepage. The issues of Merlion goes beyond the girl/guy debate. The Merlion has a male lion's head atop fish body and tail. Think of a mermaid, but with a lion's instead of a human head. What is perplexing is that the lion is a land creature while the fish is a sea creature. So is Merlion a sea or land animal? We are inclined to believe that Merlion is a land animal, or at least can survive on land as to date, there are no iOS devices that function properly underwater and Merlion has been known as an avid Pocket Planes player. This shows that s/he can comfortably remain out of the water for an extended period of time. The next mystifying issue is that the Merlion is a mythical creature. This causes us to wonder whether Merlion is a real or fictitious person (if person is a correct term to use on Merlion). To date, we have not heard of any mythical being communicating with humans, but this Merlion is definitely communicating. So we have the possibility of mythical being coming to life or at least able to communicate in our medium. Castlepage: Thank you Dr TooMuchTime. The mystery of Merlion deepens. Not only it is unknown whether Merlion is a girl or guy, but it is not clear whether s/he is a land or sea creature. In fact, we do not know if Merlion is real or mythical. And so concludes this week's episode from TA1 Gossip Corner. Thank you for listening. Disclaimer: The above is for pure entertainment only. No offense to Merlion. Note: I was away from TA1 forum for a while so I don't know how the Merlion gender debate started. Could some kind soul enlighten me
Love the stories Merlion keep up the great work! It makes me want it even more knowing their is such fierce competition. It was Faye...blame it on Faye! VIC first run with the new bux setup $650 bux!
You will notice a difference when it is an event people really play. With that few of slots your results will be all over the place. Take my advice and start bux sitting if you can. I'm doing it because I want to be competitive...not just place.
Thanks, Castle. No offence taken. And thank you for trying to help. Although, Dr Toomuchtime, whoever you are, don't quit your day job. I can assure you that telling someone in the middle of an identity crisis that he may not exist doesn't help at all. Also, since the Merlion is the national symbol for Singapore, I wonder what this tells us about our country. Oh dear. I feel another letter to Agony Aunt coming up... Cheers, M.
I guess "Bill Pepper" the mighty guy may join this game in England.. would seat and watch his great war against Gus.
Is it easier for you and your buddies to play on the one account as opposed to trying to have the oam account and the bill pepper account going at the same time?
Not when the event is in Manchester. (As I mentioned this morning, the United Kingdom's marking Mother's Day today, rather than in May like in the USA.)
I only started playing the game 2 weeks ago today. I do have 4200+ Bux sitting. It's enough to get me another 5-6 slots I believe and open a few more class 3 airports.
I am not enjoying the Manchester event ... it is exactly the type of event I dislike. Thanks for the MOFO rankings. Perhaps you can list out all the cups? I keep seeing references to yokes, cups, leagues and it's all a big jumble in my head. Thank you for this bit of info, didn't know this, learn something new everyday. Thanks for the amusing read. The gender debate started when I used "she" in one of my posts. Maybe we should all switch to Cantonese, keui(sp?), a pronoun which can be used for both he and she. Very respectable finish for 8 Roos!
