Curiosity has the best of me So how many of the members of TA1 are over 50 years old? Is there a prize for being the oldest?
Antique Nerd Truth be told I will be 57 in a couple weeks. I was messing around with a Commodore 64 at 29 years old, the first year they were available to the public (with cassette readers, 5 1/4 inch floppy drive optional). Commercials claimed they had twice the memory of any other personal computer for 1/2 the price - that's 64K of memory for the whole computer....LOL. My gosh there are times were I feel REAL old....geezer level even. I watched the original Star Trek on black & white TV on commercial TV at 9 years old. I remember being called into the cafeteria at school (8th grade) so we could watch the news show on the first man to walk on the moon. <sigh> Now I fly planes on my phone.......
A lady never reveals age. Suffice it to say I'm old enough to be SuperPenguin's mom and in fact have 3 boys ages 24, 22 and 20. I saw Star Wars in the theaters and could drive there myself. Our television when I was growing up had "rabbit ears" and Atari! Big wheels were in th yard & Yodels in our lunch boxes...hard, metal lunch boxes.
Remember when Bill Gates said 640k ought to be enough memory for anyone...and now, our phones have more memory than that!
Talking about Bill Gates, here's my guess (or is it hope?) for the next event: SXSW in Austin, Tx. That should be an opportunity NimbleBit can't pass up. Transporting nerds and game consoles to Austin, bux jobs for the likes of Bill Gates (OK, maybe Mark Pincus then), Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey. Maybe an Angry Bird here and there. Or a Burning Man. The prize should at least be a Starship part. Or, if it's bux only, a million bux. It is SXSW, after all Cheers, M.
Awesome. I'm only 29, but my family had a Commodore 64 while I was growing up, and that's where I wrote my first programs. Fullquiver, I noticed your usernames on the spreadsheet, are you really a mom of 13?
LOL -actually I'm the father of 13, wife is supermom Wife and I share a GC. She got me addicted to Tiny tower and I expanded to PP. Then I got her addicted to Blockheads. We have 13 children, 12 of them adopted from 5 different countries: Ukraine, Vietnam, Guatemala, Ethiopia, and the US. It's always crazy busy around this house but somehow we get through each day.
It was meant as a joke, u didnt accept it so i apologize Another question, i tried playing pp on my android device (Htc One S), and it is a power hog it shows up using 40% of my battery usage is this normal, the cpu runs almost all the time
Darn, this event has been cut short by an hour due to daylight savings. Oh well, extra hour come November 3rd...
Doh! Just noticed this. Guess I'll wrap it up. Busy watching movie with DH, but will try to get final screen shot of my little corner of the world at 11pm when the event ends.
Last minute sneak up on Penguin. Faye don't post yet. Wait for me. Argh ! The leaderboard is not updating for the past 15 or so mins !!! Edit: !!!!! How can Nimblebit let the event run to the last minute and yet stop updating the leaderboard before the event ends? VERY ANGRY !
Sigh ... yep, it's always been this way near the end of an event, doesn't always update the last job deliveries.
The problem is that there's no way to know when the leaderboard update stops. Sometimes it's 20mins before, sometimes it's the last couple of minutes. We don't know when we should stop our frantic work.
That was an awesome read. Too bad we don't have Austin on our PP map. Don't see the next Global Event announcement ... maybe it'll pop up at midnight, about ~45 minutes from now? .
