I think I'll have to skip the Christchurch event - I'm currently lvl 19 running a pretty small airline... Not sure if this is the best tactic, but until the next event, I've reduced my routes and plane count to a simple: 4 Aeroeagle P's 3 Aeroeagle C's 1 Sequoia C (I can't afford much more atm, but the route seems pretty busy regardless) LA>NYC>LDN>Moscow I've 7 empty slots, but parked up all my Kangaroos as they don't seem to have the distance. Trying where I can to fill up the 25% bonus, but wonder whether my strategy is completely off, or this is the best way to build up capital until the next event... Would appreciate any thoughts, thanks!
I have a question, I hope someone can help. I've been playing on an ipad2 and have had the game reset to level 0 on me twice since I started playing about 5 months ago. I was up to level 31 the first time and it crashed and I had to start over. I was up to level 46 a couple of weeks ago and same thing, reset on me at the beginning of the Paris event. So I've been syncing my ipad to my computer (itunes) every couple of days now. If this happens again would I be able to recover my data off itunes? Thanks.
Gratz Gus. Salute to you for break 15K jobs. Sure you have a lot of roos, but it takes a lot of hardwork to keep all 54 roos in the air all the time. I always wonder how you feed them. Are the 54 planes all roos or do you have others somewhere? Edit: I was watching Tiny Tower Shorts on Youtube when I came across this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BM0OROcy-uI I'm pretty sure this guy is in TouchArcade (he blurred out his flight crew). My initial gut reaction -- grab those bux jobs! Quick !!! 2nd reaction after reading the comments such as "I'm doing valentine day celebration in Rome so I learned a lot from u man make more videos and I'm earning lots of money because of flights to Rome for valentine day celebration": We should direct these people to our forum. 3rd thought: Gus, how about a video on your 15k job and 50K bux? I can imagine how big their eyes are when people see how long is your list of planes and 50k bux ? Actually you know what? Perhaps you really should post your 15K job leaderboard screen on youtube and see who can challenge you in number of jobs delivered. BTW, which position would you have qualified on the world leaderboard if you're flying your own flightcrew? LOL Harmoniamundi. Always love the pics that you've posted. How many concordes do you intend to get? [Story 1] Reporter: today our city experienced what cities in movies showed during an alien invasion. For 2 hours, the sun was blocked out a swarm of planes thronged across our skies. Citizen1: It was like Independence Day, you know. All those planes appearing out of nowhere hovering above our heads. I nearly freaked out. Citizen2: The sound was deafening. My baby couldn't sleep and I couldn't pacify him. Boy1: Oh man this is AWESOME!! I've never seen so many planes in the sky. It's even better than National day parade. I want to be a pilot when I grow up. [Story 2] Mayor: I'm thinking of nominating our town as the host of the next global event. This will be good publicity for us. With the incoming money, we can upgrade the town. Airport manager: Sir, before we do that, we need to build a bigger airport. Hotel manager: We need to build more hotels to accommodate the influx of passengers Logistics manager: We need more warehouses and trucks to handle the cargo. City development manager: We need to widen our roads to accommodate the increased traffic. Labor division manager: We need to train more people to staff the airport, hotel, warehouses, trucks, restaurants, transportation. Deputy Mayor: In summary, sir, our town needs to be upgraded BEFORE we can host a global event. Mayor: ....... [The above two short stories were inspired by the thought of Gus' fleet of 54 roos and Vic Sarkder's imperial fleet.] I was happy to build my first and only concorde. Then, I couldn't decide how to use it. The passenger-heavy split made it difficult to shuttle global event jobs for class 1 planes.
I thought to some extent all of us here are a little nerdy...but castle you take the cake! You are offically the King of the nerds.
Lies, damn lies, and statistics We all know about Gus's great performance in the London event. But how spectacular was his 15,017 job count really? Since the word nerdy was used only two posts before, let's have a look. Before Gus, the absolute record* were Spudwreck's 10,870 jobs in the Paris event, the first one that was officially recorded in the TA1 spreadsheet. The only other TA1 member who broke through the 10k limit was Tiggs2000 a.k.a. Cybernator, who scored 10,301 in the Boston event. Gus beat both by a country mile. How much do you need to win, as a rule? Across all 30 recorded events until now, the average winner scored 5,144 jobs. Gus beat that by a factor three. As you would expect, it takes more to win a Class 3 event than a Class 2 or a Class 1. On average the winner of a Class 3 event scored 7,234 jobs, against 6,388 for Class 2 and 3,985 for Class 1 airports. This only changed because of Gus. Until his record breaking 15k jobs, the average Class 3 win was 5,937 jobs, about 6% lower than Class 2 events! Another trend was turned by the London event as well. Until that time, the number of jobs needed to win was steadily declining, reaching 4,800 for the Rome and Washington events. Gus's mega performance turned that tide too. As per above, it's now more than 5,000. Finally, you might wonder how much you need to do to actually get into the Top Ten and score points? What does it take to be able to tell your grandchildren years from now that back in the early days of the Internet you were a significant player in Pocket Planes circles? Let me tell you. The average number of jobs needed to score MOFO points at all is around 1,800. Until London, this number was steadily declining. It was 4,519 in the first event, and steadily declined to 1,798. Needless to say, Gus turned this tide too. For the first time it went back up, to 1,867. The average Class 1 event requires 1,406 jobs, Class 2 needs 2,273 jobs, and a Class 3 event needs 2,761 to get you into the Top Ten and the MOFO Hall of Fame. The overall ratio between the winner and tenth place has always held quite steady: on average around 2.7. And finally: the lowest number of jobs that got anyone into the Top Ten and hence a point, was a meagre 107* in the Bariloche event. Yes, one poor schmuck only needed to score 107 jobs to get himself into the Hall of Fame. That was me. And this concludes our statistics seminar for today. back to flying, all! Cheers, M. *) Note that quoted numbers may differ from what was actually scored at any given point of time. For the MOFO rankings there is one Single Unimpeachable Centre of Knowledge (SUCK): the TA1 spreadsheet. No other sources will be accepted. - TA1 Statistics Committee
New Guy I have been playing PP for awhile now...level 51...27 slots (Sequoia-P x11, Sequoia-C x6, Aeroeagle-P x10). Phasing out the Aeroeagle-P to a balanced Sequoia P/C fleet (not sure why I don't like M's). Mostly all fully upgraded. Haven't had much luck with the bigger planes being profitable. I have a Cloudliner-P and a C in the hangar. No real thought out strategy. 24 cities...mainly Class 1. Give or take depending on Global/Local events. Heavily opened in Asia. Sending all my planes to Asia and then using Bangkok and Beiing as hubs to fly back West to N & S America. Anyway, found this forum and thought I'd learn more and play with others for Global Events. I see by the thousand plus pages, I should spend some time reading. Jerry C. @jcruz on Twitter
Hello flyers! Been reading the past 100 pages - excellent advice from everyone. Thank you. Signing into TA1. I'm level 33 currently bux sitting so I can expand my fleet. GC - scaramanga79+ Happy Flying!!!!
Who Hooo finally moved up the leader board and found some populated names So happy I continue to read all the posts; otherwise, I'd miss out on new acronyms, humor & statistics. Thank you to those who take the time to share their talents and keep us amused...it's what makes TA1 the BEST!
What's the best strategy for loading up higher lvl planes with passengers/cargo? It is better to just have one good route consisting of the airports you need for L.A. - Tokyo, and send your planes only to ports along that line?
