You all have been busy collecting Mystery Parts. Those Sequoias are great planes, and like CoastCat stated, there's no such thing as too many. :)
I don't feel very motivated at the moment, not even to chase down Sequoia parts, maybe it's because I can buy as many as I want. I think I've picked up maybe 4 or 5 Mystery Parts out of 800 or so odd jobs flung toward New Orleans.

According to the Wiki page, it uses this formula:

    AS = 2 × L + 5

Where AS is the maximum number of airports the player can own and L is the player's current level at a given time.

Ha, six of my seventeen planes grounded in Chicago for the next half hour or so. Oh well.

Odd that mine weren't also grounded...

I think that has more to do with opening one more airport than with an event taking place in that city. My (untested) impression is that the more airports you open, the more bux jobs appear.

This would also track with some earlier observations on this forum that players who have lots of Class 1 airports open (like myself) see lots of bux jobs with Class 1 destinations pop up all over the place. One theory is that each open airport generates a certain number of bux jobs destined for that airport, irrespective of class.

It would certainly explain the way I have gone in this game: having more airports open diminishes the number of jobs for a given destination per airport, including the Class 3 ones; it becomes more cumbersome to fill large (Class 3) planes; one starts to focus more on bux jobs and smaller planes; more bux jobs turn out to be available for Class 1 destinations; one deploys more Class 1 planes; etc.

At least there are C-130s and Concordes. These are fun to fly (don't ask me why) and they are a welcome diversion from flying workhorses like Seqs and Cyclones.

    NimbleBit, more planes please!

    Cheers,
    M.

I follow your theory, and agree ...to an extent. The more cities open the more bux jobs, but the less cities that you have getting the 20 percent. Where I am at though, is looking at two to three times more bux jobs since opening New Orleans. If your theory is COMPLETELY correct...then I'm opening every class 1 city on the map. Unless I'm not following.

You are following, as far as I've seen until now, bux jobs increase with number of airports opened. Couple of caveats (apart from my being wrong as I didn't actually go to the trouble of measuring it).

First, not sure if the effect is linear. Something tells me NB figured out that in the end there would be more bux jobs than anything else and that would kill the game. So maybe there's a cap, or maybe there's a nonlinear formula that adds fewer new bux job numbers with every newly opened airport.

Secondly, the reason I wouldn't advise taking this to the extreme is that it would become nearly impossible to fill planes (especially the larger ones) with same-destination jobs. I'm already finding that out. I'm hardly using my Cloudliners and Cyclones at the moment. In the extreme, playing would become a random affair as you'd be forced to fill planes with passengers for any combo of destinations.

I'm actually already doing that to some extent with my blimps, for bux jobs. Jakarta for instance is the collection point for bux jobs from ANZ, and when I send in a blimp to pick them up I really don't bother, as long as they're along the route. So fill'er up with San Jose, New York, Ottawa and Fairbanks. That's 30-odd bux and the nett loss on the flight is 300 coins or so. One Seq from Tokyo to LA (takes forever to fill) makes enough coins to finance 30 such flights.

But to do that all the time or every flight would defeat the purpose of the game. Speaking of which, if anyone can tell me what that purpose is, I'd be grateful :)

    Cheers,
    M.

Does this not sound eerily close to a "real" airline's dilema?:D

I am confused about the X10 Mapple, I play on my iPod Touch and my girlfriend is playing on her Android tablet, we are both the same level, but she has the ability to buy X10 Mapple parts in the market and I do not. Is iOS the only platform that can't buy Mapple parts?

    Yes, it is.
On Android it was added a few days ago, maybe because you can get them on iOS via trading with a Mac-Owner but on Android there was no way to get them.
Maybe they'll be aviable on iOS in the future too...who knows ;)

Come over to the dark side Luke...or steal your gf's android! Squallid...send me a mapple control please! I can give you body or engine in return when I get home tonight. Part store keeps screwing me. I have like 15 seq m engines and body but no control. And now like 7 mapple engine and bodies. Lol. Of course I do have like 20 seq m planes and another 15 mapples but can you ever have to many?

I actually have my own android tablet, but I play my iPod Touch more often. I thought about starting a game on my Touchpad too, so that I can trade parts with her, but I am afraid that if I was playing 2 PP games I would never get anything else done.

Delivering so many jobs to try and pick up as many mystery parts as possible is a time-consuming process! Updated the spreadsheet for those three names I can see, though...

Who has the most mystery parts...that is the question! I only have 18, I started the event late and was 568 jobs behind 10th place when I started. So I loaded up on class 2 planes got ready to play...and realized it was a class 1 city  So I started buying mapples and have been just grinding for almost 36hrs 1822 jobs, 6th place and and a fleet full of mapples later, all off my 19 slots. Imagine if I had 55!

Sounds like you're following in the footsteps of Gus "King of Roos" and on your way to becoming "King of Mapples"! :D

I just updated the spreadsheet with my little corner of the world. :)
    It's nice to see TA1 ranked #2 with a decent 4k lead over #3.

I haven't been chasing down Mystery Parts and haven't kept track of how many I've picked up. I'd take a guess at 8 to 10 parts with 1100 jobs delivered.

I count 20 mystery parts delivered so far, another 6 on the way, with something like 650 jobs delivered so far. Can't wait to have enough plane slots to have 'roos sitting at each of my airports - spotted a mystery part in Munich earlier without a plane to pick it up.
