Both Aeroeagles and Pearjets can pop across the Atlantic from New York to London or Spain - but you'll need to give them range upgrades.
If you're based in South America, even the little Birchcraft (3x range upgrade) can make the hop across the Atlantic, from Rio to Lagos. (I wouldn't invest in any Birchcraft planes beyond whatever you currently may have ... but that's my opinion) Check out the links in my signature below, two of them will have links to the Rusty Snowman's Distance Calculator which can be used to determine whether a plane can make the hop from one city to another.
The earliest you can get across the Atlantic with any efficiency is level 10, when you can buy/build a Birchcraft. With no upgrades, the Birchcraft can cross between Recife (South America) and both Lagos and Kinshasa (Africa). (yes, you can cross using a class 1 plane by hopping across upper Canada, Greenland, and Iceland - but it will take a long time) EDIT: Faye and I posted at the same time! I concur with her regarding the Birchcraft. Buy a couple but don't invest too heavily. The Birchcrafts can only carry 4 jobs, so you're not making enough money from jobs to justify the expenses (faster plane = higher operating cost). When you reach level 16 and can buy Aeroeagles, stock up on them! I'm level 50 and still rely heavily on the Aeros.
I feel in Class 1 Mohawk is best even though it only carries 3 in class 2 aeroeagle (my main transatlantic fleet) in class 3 cyclone (my main ultra long hall fleet, will upgrade to cloudliner soon)
Balloning festival Slow paced event for me, got 5 blimps on the job, wich is oddly relaxing [Tread hijack] Speaking of blimps, I'm looking for parts http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2649262#post2649262 so if anyone wants to get rid of their blimp parts, have a look and PM me if your interrested [/Tread hijack]
Hey guys! I'm a level 30 player who recently found out about this thread/forum. I thought I was pretty decent but then after reading most of you're posts, almost everyone here is above me in skill. So I have a few questions: 1. I've read in some strategies that you get layovers with Aeroeagles. Why not Kangaroos? They might carry less cargo/people but aren't the costs much lower in respect to laying over with Eagles? I've been using roos for the longest time and I was quite surprised when I haven't seen anyone here mention they use those too. 2. What is "bux-sitting"? Do you just wait at airports until bux jobs appear so you pick them up? If so, don't you have to check almost every reset for jobs? I've seen this term being used over and over again but haven't found a decent explanation on how it works exactly. More specifically, I'm wondering how do you gain bux in such great amounts so quickly. 3. Tetras. How come nobody uses/mentions them? Are they just inefficient or are the planes at higher levels just better? 4. Why so little airports? I am confused when I see screenshots of people level 50+ only operating 12 or so airports. Thanks for reading and all your replies Sorry if some of the questions are noob/easy to answer, but I seek to improve my game! GC: _porygon
1: I personally hate low cargo, too much clicking xD So I use sequoias and a few aeros. It's a personal preference/efficiency thing. 2: You've got the right idea of how it works. It is labor intensive but the payoff adds up very quickly. 3: you're correct again. High costs and if I remember correctly(I haven't played in a month or so...), the tetra m has an uneven c ratio which is annoying for us M fleeters. 4: the problem is the job lists. No matter how many airports you have, their job list is always limited to a maximum number of available jobs. This creates a problem when you begin to open too many airports. Since you have more and more airports, the job list gets extremely cluttered with the various options. Here's some numbers to look at that may help, but the numbers are just chosen at random because I don't know the exacts: say your airport has 50 available jobs max. Well if you own 5 other airports then, if you are lucky, your airport will offer you 10 jobs to each city. But if you own more cities, say 25 just to over exaggerate, then, if you are extremely unlucky your airport will offer maybe 2 jobs to each city. This effect will make loading a sequoia/cloudliner a nightmare. Owning less cities is counterintuitive but it is necessary because of the max job list size:/
Bluebear is right. Personally for me, Tetra has 2 things that I don't like - 1. it is expensive to fly. When you're flying bux plane (i.e. a plane sitting there collecting bux jobs over many job cycles until the plane is quite full, it's probably bux jobs of different cities, so you're not going to get the 25% bonus. That's why we prefer sequoias. That depends to an extent the way you play PP. If you play it intensively, you might want to reach your destination faster so that you have something to do. But if you fly a few planes, then come back couple of hours later, then speed doesn't really matter (say seq takes 2 hrs to fly fr Tokyo to LA. Tetra does it much faster. but you're gone for 2 hours and by the time you're back, the seq would have landed. So you don't need to care about speed.) If you're reached the point where coins don't matter to you, you might go for speed. But if you're at mid-stage where you're still trying to earn coins to open more plane slots, then sequoias is more economical to fly. 2. Tetra has a smaller range. For me (I can afford not to care about coins now), range is a bigger consideration. Sequoias can fly from Tokyo to Tehran directly. Tetra doesn't reach anywhere near Tetra. We like Cyclones because they are like an upgraded version of Sequoia. Cyclone's range is a teeny bit farther than sequoias. The M planes have an even 6P 6C split so it's nice too. (I think Tetra M is 5P 5C, but I'm not totally sure.) Cyclones can basically fly the same routes as sequoias while if you use tetra, you'll have to make different route because of its shorter range.
Lots of good answers on this already. 1. Early on Kangas are good & these will be your workhorses for Class 1 events for a long time. I prefer Aeros for helping with BUX cleanup. They have better range than Kangas. 2. Initially in the game you need coins & will pick up every BUX job that comes along. Ideally delivering with 25% bonus. As you progress a BUX sitting strategy will enable you to collect more BUX faster, allowing you to have more plane slots = more BUX. 3. Tetras, even fully upgraded on range just can't fly the distances that Sequoias or Cyclones can. I LOVE that my Cyclones can go from NY to Istanbul or Cairo or Kinshasa. 4. Bottom line, it's a personal preference. Up until recently, I had 23 Class 3 and 13 Class 1 airports open. It was taking a LONG time to fill a plane for the 25% bonus. I kept wondering HOW are the top 10 on the leader board flying? Literally, my finger/shoulder was getting flyer flinger syndrome... By paring down the number of airports, you fill planes faster and get them in the air quicker.
Has anyone found any mystery parts on this event. I only ask as Livingstone is outside the range of my existing network (North and south america) so I was looking to close down the africa airports to get a decent flow of useful jobs back on my american routes. However I don't want to miss out if mystery parts are available.
Correct me if Im wrong, I do remember gettin' mystery parts on a non full plane prize event before. But I'm willing to bet that it was a bug that NB fixed....or maybe I'm just delusional.
Yes, there is a Mac version. You can use the same GameCenter account on both but I had a lot of problems keeping the games in sync. Eventually I gave up and created a second GC account to play on the Mac. Regarding Kangaroos and layovers... I like to use them when airports are close together. I'll sometimes keep a Kanga M bouncing between London & Paris or Seoul & Tokyo to layover bux or event jobs. I'm more likely to use Aeros mostly because the Kangas are usually parked in the hangar unless there's a class 1 event! I only have 24 slots open, and unless I'm going full-out on an event I may only have 5 or 6 planes in the air. Regarding the number of airports - the others have explained that pretty well. You only get X number of jobs in an airport, so having more potential destination dilutes your job pool. I have a set route of 10 red cities open at all times and only open others for events. For the current event I've added Kinshasa (layovers), Mumbai (to provide a faster route from Tokyo and Seoul to Kinshasa), and Livingstone. Tetras and Fogbusters aren't worth the cost, IMO. I have a couple Cloudliners and a fleet of Kangas/Mapples for events, but my core planes are Aeros, Sequoias, and Cyclones.
Thanks. Will close down my africa airports then and go back to making money on my Americas routes in preperation for my transatlantic jump
