I had 72,445 when I made the exchange. And again, that was without a conscious bux collection scheme--I simply picked them up as I saw them. I kept Honolulu and Sydney permanently open for the large bux jobs, so I suppose I did that. Never felt the need to open up more plane slots. Now I'm almost regretting it: I can't play for more than 5 minutes between crashes! I used to average a crash every 15-20 minutes when I had fewer planes, which was annoying but bearable. Does this happen to anybody else playing on a 4G iPod touch, or have you all got iPads and iPhones with faster CPUs? The game is extremely frustrating for me now, sadly.
I had also some crashes when I was playing on my iTouch4, and I had only around 20 planes slots. The game was not fluid. It´s nicer to play on a recent device when you've got a lot a planes slots.
Yikes, I hope you're doing better! Sitting in the ER with IV tubes everywhere is no fun. Lying in the ICU with IV tubes was just plain boring. Handy tip: never be perfectly awake and alert in the ICU, they have no idea what to do with patients like that. I don't bother advertising Tokyo or LA for the cross-global Cloudliner runs. As long as both cities are at maximum upgrade and you don't have too many other cities open, your Cloudliners will fill up in a few turns. If you like pairing cities, you can have Seoul and Mexico City open as well, and feed LA/Tokyo with layovers (using Kangaroos or something else cheap to run). Darn it, I made a push towards the end but didn't manage to grab that top spot! Not going to put quite that level of effort into Lima, but Tokyo->Lima is still good money/high bux.
I have an iPhone 5 and it still crashes every once in a while for me too so it may not only be older devices. Anyone else? (BTW I have 16 slots)
That's what I say. Then I do the 50 minimum jobs. Then I look at the crew ranking and realize I'm only a few jobs behind someone from the forum! Hey, let's see if I can crack the top 20. Next thing you know, you are short on sleep!
It appears as though green_paper was correct in saying 9 - not 8 - bux is the max, but I thank you for going above and beyond what I had asked! (Knowing me, you probably know that that would've been the next question I asked!) Thank you. EUREKA! THAT is what I need to do! Upgrade LA & Tokyo to the max since they're 2 of my permanent airports! Thank you. Of course, that should require quite some coins, so yep - I'll be doing coin runs for a long time. Me too. In fact, I haven't done a global event since the KK event!
Lima is one of my semi-permanent airports so i've done the 50 jobs already as I'm realigning things and acquiring Aeroeagle-M and Sequoia-M parts. Anyone want to trade 2x Aeroeagle-M parts for Aeroeagle-P+C parts? as in, you send me 2 aeroeagle-ms and i'll send you one each aeroeagle-p+c's. complete Seq-P for complete Seq-M? or even the same 2-2 deal 2xSeq-M's for 1seq-p and 1seq-c?
Been there, done that, will almost certainly do it again. "Oh, I can move up past all these people pretty easily, maybe I'll bring a few big planes out of the hangar."
Cheating or not?? Not sure if anyone else does this, or if it should be considered "cheating" rather than just taking advantage of how the game works. As someone who has plenty of coins to spare, I sometimes take advantage of the fact that the job pool for all open cities is "refreshed" whenever another city is opened or closed (as long as said city hasn't already been open in that 5 minute refresh cycle). For example, just after a job refresh and having already checked all airports for wanted jobs, open a low cost airport (population 0.0 like Hammersmith, Lulea in far northern Europe or Iqaluit, Nuuk, Goose Bay in far northern US) and check all airports again, rinse and repeat until close to next job refresh - then in the next cycle close all the airports one by one (you get half the coins you spent on opening them back and those I mentioned only cost 1000-1300 coins anyway). It works best if you're just checking a couple of airports, eg this morning I had a Cloudliner C/P pair in each of Mumbai and Kinshasa, so with only 2 airports of interest to check, I managed to fill them both with Lima jobs in about 10 minutes by opening all 5 of the above-mentioned cities in turn during the first refresh cycle then closing them all again during the second refresh cycle. It's a strategy I sometimes use if I haven't got much time to play and only want to deal with a couple of airports. Post number 12000 on page 1200
LOL. Ang mo is a generic term for Caucasians. It is dialect which literally translated means "red hair". Grats for making the bux exchange. It feels so different when you have coins to spare and don't have to pinch and save. And with 29 slots, it's much easier to implement bux strategy to collect bux. Your bux count will go up in no time. May the market cooperate with you in your sequoia M and Cyclone M shopping I love these. Plus the Con air. How about (f) escape from alcatraz ? Ya Faye, I switched to my central twin hub (Lon/Paris) bux collection strategy because I don't have time to work on feeder planes. My strategy allows you to pick it up anytime and continue from there. The only thing is that once in a while you have to survey the airports to see which airport is short of planes and need a plane to be sent. I think the train strategy might also work as "pick up any time" too though I haven't tried it. I'm trying to close Port Elizabeth. How to resist the 6 bux Port E. job fr LA and 5 bux Port E. job fr Tokyo? Andrwsc, you have the mind of a researcher and this is first class research work. You thought of something and you set it out to test it, present your findings with proper documentation (i.e. the screen shots). Let me appreciate the awesomeness of his experimental design. 1. He has necessary starting condition -- well funded in bux 2. Next is to do the delicate task of working the coins to reach the max value of 2,147,483,647 (Andrwsc doesn't say but I'm quite sure it took quite some time to get it exactly right.) 3. The hot air balloon 1 coin catch is sheer genius experimental design. If I were teaching bits and bytes and binary representation in Computer Science, I will use Andrwsc's post to show how an addition of 1 changes from max positive 2^31 to max negative 2^31. How to demonstrate this phenomenon in PP? Why hot air balloon and 1 coin catch? Hot air balloon because it is zero cost to fly (hence will not affect the 2,147,483,647 max coin). 1 coin catch because that's the only way in PP to get 1 coin. This seems obvious now that Andrwsc presented his experiment. I don't know if I would have thought of it were I doing the experiment. The question of the GC members achieving more than 2,147,483,647 coins (e.g. one had 2,147,514, xxx) is legitimate. My best guess somewhere along the line Nimblebit changed the format of its number representation. How likely is this though? I'm not a programmer but I imagine that this is no small decision and has great ramifications to the program. Perhaps programmers can give their insight to this. In conclusion, kudos to Andrwsc (hat off and deep bow). To those who have no idea what I'm babbling about, nevermind. I'm just bowled over by Andrwsc's work. Welcome ! Nice, the chef's uniform matches that of Concorde design. So Nimblebit agrees that the best chefs are French? My game crashes every 5 to 15 min of continuous game play too. It's most annoying when you're trying to catch a bux job with <1 min left before job refresh. LOL. Hi-5 green paper ! I don't know when does the global event end for you. But for me, it ends on Thursday 3+ am. I recall that global event (can't rmb which one) when #3 crept up on us and we frantically worked to regain our #2 positions in the last minutes before the global event was up. (Vic bux boosted a lot of his return planes that time.) Yeah, for that event, I stayed up past bedtime for the honor of TA1. Edit: Apology for my long windedness. I just saw how LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG this post is. Maybe I should add a few lines more so that this is the only one #12001 post on page 1201.
How convenient! Tokyo is having a Game Convention for the next 20 hours! AWESOME!! So, I'm gonna advertise it as many times as I need to for that time. Also, I uploaded LA & Tokyo airports each 1x. 177,896 coins 11/12 plane slots in use: - 7 Sequoias (5M, 1P, 1C) - 1 SK - 1 MX10 (Mapple) - 2 Kangaroos (1P, 1C) <---I still have my Kanagroo-Ms, but I use my Mapple instead IS THERE ANYBODY HERE WHO WANTS A KANGAROO-M? I HAVE THREE THAT I CAN GIVE AWAY! PM ME IF INTERESTED. GC: ALYSSACROACIA

And how many planes do you have in service? My info is right there by my username... and in other news...does anybody know why my user picture ONLY shows up on my profile and nowhere else on the site?
