Does anybody know if it is possible to advertise in TWO cities at the same time? Or will it cancel the 1st city when you advertise the 2nd city? Nice! And you did it on Page 700. Next time aim for post #8000, 8th post down on Page 800.
Yeah, so apparently I didn't really mean it when I said I wouldn't be competing for a high ranking in the Mumbai event. Darn it, I took a look at the leaderboard at some point and realized how little effort it would take to jump past the next few players, and it just kept snowballing... #14 right now, and I see Train 2000 up at #11 so I have a target. EDIT: Advertising is independent so you can advertise in multiple cities. I always advertise when running individual events in Class 1/2 cities, plus of course the global event city.
I've tried advertising a couple of times, during events, and can't honestly say I noticed a massive difference myself, except perhaps in class 1 cities. My class 3s usually have 4 or 5 event jobs in them anyway and that didn't increase noticeably.
I'm trying something new, what I think is a variation of the Sequoia Method (it has been a LONG time since I read the original post on the Sequoia method, this may be what it was originally intended to be). If you have tried something similar, let me know your results please. I'm setup to run Lima-Lagos-Mumbai-Tokyo. I have a Sequoia M in every city that goes to every other city, meaning 3 in Lima (1 to Lagos, 1 to Mumbai, 1 to Tokyo), 3 in Lagos (1 to Lima, 1 to Mumbai, 1 to Tokyo, etc etc. So that is a total of 12 planes. I have 2 additional ones that will stay grounded until needed for events and a few class 2 and 1 planes in the hangar for events. I am not putting the planes in the air until either they are ALL full +25% or when that planes twin is full +25% and ready to fly (ie Lima-> Lagos and Lagos->Lima) that way when they land, they can reload and go right back. I used to run only planes from each city (Lima<->Lagos, Lagos<->Mumbai, Mumbai<->Tokyo) which I thought was really inefficient as I kept them in the air more often, but the only planes that were ever full with the +25% were the end routes (Lagos->Lima and Mumbai->Tokyo). Thoughts?
Anyone got recommendations of straight routes involving class 3 airports only, stretching from North America to China? Thanks!
You can peruse the messages in the past 700 pages I posted here earlier this month with a few links you may find interesting: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2420801&postcount=6750
This may be a naive question but why are people interested in acquiring rare planes and their parts? I was never interested in keeping them because of their limited capacity and range but it looks like there's an active market for them on this board. What purpose do they serve?
It is because they are rare and hard to get. You can't buy them from the Market like all the other common planes. The only one I find useful is the Blimp, and maybe the Sea Knight.
The pb I see with this setup is you don't use the layovers and you got to wait a lot of refreshes to fill up the planes. I'll keep the idea of dedicated planes for the short runs (ie Lima<>Lagos etc) But I would try to store jobs to mumbai and Tokyo from Lima in Lagos. Jobs to Tokyo from Lagos in Mumbai Jobs to Lagos and Lima from Tokyo in Mumbai Etc... That way you may fill up immediately some planes. Although I guess with only 4 airports, maybe you don't need layovers You got people who want to collect each and everyone of the possible planes. And for active global or local events players, the class 1 rare planes are useful as they slightly differ in characteristics with the other planes. And I also like seeing my blimps or Sea Knight flying But it's true they're not essential to play the game!
This is very similar what I'm doing, except I'm running the following routes and only have planes at the far end LA, NY -> Tokyo, Seoul (via Paris and Tehran) Buenos, Sau -> Tokyo Seoul (via Kinshasa and Mumbai) And I also am using P and C planes rather than Ms so I have twice as many planes (I don't find it takes too much longer to fill simply because of luck with jobs, so the time you'd save with Ms doesn't net any greater profit, since you'd need twice as many runs just to match it) So that's a pair of Ps and Cs in every city going to the far end, two in LA for Tokyo, two in LA for Seoul. Two in NY for Tokyo, two in NY for Seoul. Two in Tokyo for NY and two for LA... Etc and similarly for the SA route. Total of 32 Sequoias flying around <3 I made a ridiculous post about it some 10 pages back. Personally, apart from using cloud liners/feeders or cyclones and monitoring 24/7 I think this method is the most profitable. Though I'm not sure how our routes compare, what's your revenue like?
Thanks for the input! I am noticing that it takes 2-3 job refreshes to fill all of the planes, but since I am only checking PP every 2-3 hours now, that is not such a big deal. As far as profit goes, I will let you know later today, about to make a full run in one more job refresh. I did use the P&C Sequoias before, a match going between every city, and found it harder to fill them up, at least to the +25% point...... It looks like every ~ 2 hours I can pull in 87k or so profit. That may not be totally accurate (I added all of the projected profits right before hitting fly). Either way, seems like this is working better for me than using layovers...
Around 12 more hours left of Mumbai. What city do you think is next? Edited to add: Who is #1 with 7250 jobs?
New York! We need another boring Class 3 event! I'd love a Class 1 in a remote location, like the northern Eurasian region. Or perhaps southern Africa, although that has a central Class 2 city (Johannesburg) which would take some of the challenge out of it. Hmm. Anadyr, perhaps? Just crept into #9...
I saw you catching up with me on the Leaderboard! Seeing each others names helps fuel that competitiveness. We did class 1 Cape Town back in July and I remember using Johannesburg as a waypoint between Cape Town and a larger city up north (maybe Kinshasa?). I vaguely recall using one plane that could go direct to Cape Town, and another plane that didn't have the range which needed to go thru Johannesburg. Edited to add: Finally found Anadyr on the map. I could certainly to that! We did nearby Magadan back in July.
