I believe you get more XP for the bux jobs too. There was a chart or something that calculated how much XP you earn and for what. I don't have a clue which page it was posted on, though.
1. Hold finger over word 2. Choose select on pop-up 3. ??????? 4. Profit. XP gained is equal to revenue not profit. So for one flight your cp gained is equal to the sum of each job. Bux jobs are converted into xp the same way they are converted into coins. So a 4-bux job is worth 2000 coins. Bux jobs are always better to load than coin jobs, more xp and you can trade them in for significantly more coins. E.g. LA-TK coin job is 1,991 but the bux jobs are all 9 bux, which is about 4,500 coins (and xp) when converted. Kaching! Edit: Forgot what I originally came here to post! I just had one of my flights from LA to Tokyo randomly drop off a Tokyo job in New York as it flew through, cost me a lot dropping from 10 25% to 9 with no bonus.
For those of you using Sequoias as your main long haul plane, what aspects of them have you upgraded? Not sure if it's worth spending bux on range and speed
I never spend bux on speed. The faster it is the less profit it makes. I used to fully upgrade the range until I realised I didn't need to and was wasting 100s bux doing it. Weight is the one to fully upgrade. Less weight = more profit. Stopped buying Sequioas and started using Cyclones more.
I have 22 of them and I haven't made a single upgrade. When I have all 32 up and running I might upgrade weight fully. Range is only needed of you need range, but the Seq doesn't really need it so don't bother. Speed reduces profit, so you might as well use cyclones and you'd need to be watching PP a lot more often. Weight is pure profit so upgrade that to full.
I agree with what LS & Chris said above. First thing I do is upgrade 3x weight. I skip range upgrade because it is not needed with the cities I own. However, I did upgrade range 1x during the Chicago flight crew event so that my Sequoia could do Paris<>Chicago (So I could have the option of that or London<>Chicago, in case of airport outages .... But I think there is a very very very slight profit gain going thru Paris rather than London) I only upgrade range when I need to. It's not an automatic 3x range upgrade after purchase. Sequoias are the planes for you if you like a slower paced game with less frequent check-ins. It takes around 1.5 to 2 hrs for a Sequoia to travel from Asia (Tokyo/Shanghai) to NY/LA.
What airports and which kind of planes? When you can't move much, or talk much, or eat anything, PP is a nice diversion. Dratted wisdom tooth. But lying here in a daze has given me time to move up the ranks nicely - now sitting at #21 with 604 jobs. I'm also running lumberjacks up to Montreal and am waiting patiently for a well-located pirate party since I'm close to the 1000 jobs mark for that event.
I'm running 20 Sequoias right now (10P and 10C), no upgrades at all. When I have the bux, I might upgrade weight fully, but I doubt I will ever upgrade range, as I run Lima->Lagos->Mumbai->Tokyo. I have 3 sets going back and forth on each leg (i.e. Lima to Lagos, Lagos to Mumbai, etc) with 2 dedicated to whatever event is going on. If the event is at a Class 2 airport, I dump the layovers at the nearest airport on my line, or open the nearest Class 3 airport and use my event Sequoias to move the jobs there. I have 2 Aeroeagles (1P,1C) and 4 Kangaroos (2P,2C) in the hangar to finish the journey to the class 2 or 1 airport as needed. But, you didn't ask all that, sorry, got long winded. Right now, no upgrades, but I will upgrade weight fully on all 20 when I have 1500 bux.....
I he mostly pearl jets and aero eagles I have all class 3 airplanes in north America + Mexico city and some class 2 I've been pretty overwhelmed cus I can never get the 25% bonus
currently i have 4 airports, rio, kinshasa, mumbai and tokyo. This is good for lots of planes as it is easily done by aeroeagles with 5% increased range. I also have sequoias that i am buying ( just turned level 23) and have 3 of those and have 2 fogbusters that were given to me. this route works as it gives high bux output and flexibility. Its just my view, but it works extremely well for me.
you only have 4 airports? i have 35 which allows all my types to travel either lower half or top half
What's your Average Daily Revenue on that? And how often do you check in/how long for? Sounds like an interesting set-up. And what's the revenue on a job from Lima to Tokyo? Considered doing a NA->Tokyo to increase revenue/bux? EDIT: Has Seoul been closed twice today?! Mumble grumble...
I like taking risks so I think by tomorrow, I'll retire all my Blimps, close all my Class 1 airports, bring out my only Cyclone, open one Class 3 airport on each continent (or just do a L.A -> NY ->London -> Istanbul/Tehran -> Tokyo). May add some spare Aeroeagles to take pressure off. Just doing this due to boredom, sadly. The Blimps are good, yes, but Im losing the... feel to the game. Until the Concorde strikes, this is gonna be my plan until then.
First time was a nuisance as I had just loaded all my planes. Second time however (now) I am 'lucky' because in the 12 or so job refreshes I've sat through, there have only been 4 passengers in Tokyo heading to Los Angeles, so one of my Seqiouas is lonely as hell. Mumble grumble...
I'd try the following to boost your income: - Phase out the PearJets in favor of the Aeros. Keep a few Class 1 planes on hand for events (I have a mix of Mohawks and Kangaroos for that). - Trim down your airport list. Fewer open airports = a more concentrated job pool = less wait to fill your plane for the 25% bonus. - Pick a long-distance route which your Aeros can manage. Check out http://www.therustysnowman.com/proj/pocketplanes.php for some exceedingly handy tools to calculate distances. If you upgrade the Aeros to level 2, they can make the NYC-Madrid jump over the Atlantic. At level 3, they can run from NYC to London. I settled on LA-NYC-London-Tehran-Shanghai as my main long-distance route. They're all Class 3 cities, so when you hit level 20 and can start buying Class 3 planes, you're all set. An alternative is Lima-Rio-Lagos-Mumbai-Tokyo (again, all Class 3 cities). - The straighter the route, the better your profit, as pay is based on straight-line mileage. I found it a little weird at first to close down so many airports, but once you're rolling in $$$, you don't worry about it because you can afford to re-open cities as needed!
