Re: Salvador Aside from being at #30 on the second day, I was always trailing the top 10, went in and out of it a few times! Simply had to secure a top 10 place though I could of made it to below you but sleep had to come first unfortunately! lol My method was load up 2 of my Fogbusters in NY and Chicago and send them to Rio or Sao whilst the other 2 made the return journey. 1 Birchcraft went back and forth between NY and Chicago whilst the Fogbusters were in the air to ensure they could take off straight away with Salvador jobs. Same with the Sea Knight in Paris / London to ensure my 2 Cyclones could take off straight away too. So that's 28 jobs being fed in every 20 mins or so. I actually only opened Recife so my Aeroeagles could make the jump from London / Paris as Salvador was JUST out of range. Then I gave up caring about profit loss and moved all Aeroeagles into South America, but kept Recife for my Kangaroo to go to. Then it was just my 7 Aeroeagles going back and forth from Salvador to Rio / Sao with 1 Birchcraft to clear the flood of jobs that the Cyclones would be delivering. If I'd played this method from the outset, who knows how many jobs I'd of ended on I'm not currently participating in the current world event - need a break from it! Gone back to constructing the website instead! Is there anything you'd like to contribute to it (or anyone else of course : ) ? *woops, sorry - just saw you mailed me with suggestions! Many thanks, will reply to it via PM!*
Is it better to get all Cyclones for my intercontinental fleet, or continue using my mixture of Sequoias, Tetras, and Cyclones?
I'm sure you could have made the Top 3 had you not succumbed to sleep. I had something similar going, although less efficiently, with big planes taking jobs from NY/London/Shanghai to Salvador/Rio. Big planes flying main non-event route between LA and Shanghai/Beijing/Seoul/Tokyo. Birch between Chicago & NY. Kangaroo between London & Paris. Aeros flew from NY/London/Shanghai directly into Salvador, unloaded, hopped over to Rio to refill and head back up to NY/London/Shanghai. Fogbusters/Cyclones/Sequoias flew from NY/London/Shanghai to Rio, unloaded, and jobs picked up by Kangaroos to Salvador. The entire operation could have been optimized by taking Asia out of the loop (too far, takes too long), removing the main non-event route (additional resources allocated toward event), and using additional South American cities (for quick jobs to Salvador). These events kill my profit. But at level 40, I'm really no longer playing to maximize profit. Just trying to keep the game interesting. I'm barely hanging onto the #6 spot in the Wellington event, but will definitely drop out of Top 10 since my daughter is still on summer break and wants to commandeer my phone to play Pocket Frogs. For the website ... I was thinking it might be nice to have a section listing a few possible Nome-Wellington routes (and if possible, include type of plane that can do the route). Someone recently asked about this in the past couple of pages, and if one person asked, surely there must be others with the same question? Route that can be done with Mohawk: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2387408&postcount=6068 Route that can be done with non-upgraded Supergopher or a 2x range upgraded Mohawk: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2387499&postcount=6073 Edited to add: Coastcat's route, using 3x Supergopher: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2388118&postcount=6088
It depends on your playing style. Do you want quick turnaround and frequent check-ins? Or do you want a more leisurely pace with less frequent check-ins? Faster planes are usually less profitable, while slower planes are more profitable ... extreme examples can be seen in the Blimp (slow as molasses on a cold day, profitable) vs Starship (warp speed fast, profit loss). Sequoias are great for a slower paced game. Cyclones are great for a faster paced game. Cyclones, with 12 capacity, may take a little longer to completey fill with jobs going to same destination, may take several job refreshes or use of layovers. Aeroeagles, with 6 capacity, are quick/easy to fill up and send on their way. I use a combination of Cyclones, Fogbusters, Sequoias and Aeroeagles. I skipped the Tetras, never used them.
I did the Nome-Wellington marathon with a 3x upgraded SuperGopher: Nome Ketchikan Thunder Bay Goose Bay Nuuk Reykjavik Paris Jerusalem Mumbai Kuching Alice Springs Sydney Wellington That's two less than your proposed route, but you do need to upgrade the SG to do it. I'd closed airports after passing through (except for Paris, which I use regularly), but still had Sydney and Wellington open when the Wellington event started. Hurray for good timing! (in a pitched battle for standing - currently #9 but with #10 breathing down my neck)
How many aircraft slots do you have at level 40 Faye? I sold all my Asian cities in order to reduce the job pool - the way I had it was perfect for the amount of planes I have and time I could dedicate to this world event - planes were never really grounded waiting for jobs unless I let it happen! When the concorde and C-130 events hit, I'll probably disown my social life to play for top 10 spots Would like to have my website up and running by then too... Talking of which, thank you for you PM, only just noticed it! Not sure if links to original posts will be included on the website yet but it's very helpful to me!!
The second time I've caught my pilots goofing off! I figured I might as well share for people who have boring pilots...
Thanks for this. Btw, is it a good idea to upgrade the speed of my Kangaroos & Birchcrafts or should I just spend my bux somewhere else. Thanks
I bought some to support developers since this game is awesome. IMO they did it too well and you dont actually need to spend real money in this game.
