To follow-up to my previous message, when I got the pop-up message for completing the achievement, I immediately took a look at the airport info page again. It showed 143 flights, 101 passengers, and 69 shipments. Based on that, I'll speculate that perhaps only the passenger count triggers 100% complete? Should I just run P jobs only for the Punta Arenas, Barrow, etc. achievements also? Also, if the 143 flights total is accurate and counts both in and out, that means I had 72 incoming flights, which would have been about 50/50 between P and C planes. Therefore, the passenger and cargo counts should have been about 108 items each. The passenger count is in the right ballpark, but the cargo count is definitely low--probably a result of the count down bug reported earlier.
Input for website content? Pezmage mentioned a (few) pages back that it would of been nice if someone had copied all helpful strategies posted by us onto a free blog for beginners of the game to review themselves instead of having to find needles in a haystack here. I like this idea. But I'm thinking about taking it a step further and setting up a website of my own. I used to code in java, html, php and a small amount of C+ alongside a networking qualification I achieved a few years back. I never put these to any real use so have forgotten much of it. But I could quite easily use a template and strike up a website for the cause Pezmage mentioned, and include many other collections of helpful hints and tips that are only scattered in forums around the net at the moment. So if I were to do this, what else would anyone like to see on this site? The usual 'Links' to helpful resources such as the Pocket Planes wiki and rusty snowmans tool would be obvious things to include. There could be a page of collective game centre ID's centred around this forum (and others). So if I wanted to see where Pezmage or PocketPlanesGod was in the leaderboards during an event, I would be able to see his GC ID if he wanted it to appear on this section of the site and add him? Also, a list of the crews and an archive of which crew finished in which place for the top 10 crews each event. I don't know, I'm just playing with the idea of doing this. Is it worth doing? What else could be included?
There's nothing better than loading up an empty Cloudliner in London with 17 L.A layovers Apart from that, They're fast so expensive to run, the M is a bizarre 12p/5c. And you really got to have a layover strategy to fill them up for the 25% bonus. you got to have all your airports fully upgraded first of course (for the number of jobs/layovers). I got 3M, 2C and 1P running , they're kind of cool but not the easiest to use properly. I Keep'em flying for now.
Oh man do it. With any luck I'll have a video up on Youtube this evening regarding my Sequoias strat. A forum goer asked me to explain it with pics or a video since they're visual learners. I've never made a video before like that so it should be fun to see how it turns out. (If you search me on Youtube right now you'll see a short video of my daughter, heh)
I just put my first Cloudliner into the fleet. Stupid expensive to get up and running bux wise. Especially now that bux are harder to come by. 292 bux just to put into service then another 219 for weight and 219 for distance. Over 700 bux for one Cloudliner. Insane!
That is why I am only running two. A P and a C. M is too unbalanced. They are simply for a new route. Don't care if they don't make massive amounts of cash. I have seen too many people on here making major money and still bored. I am trying to set up routes as if I was an ax Cruel airline rather than for more money. See if that helps with boredom.
Slowly but surely replacing all the long-range planes with Sequoia-Ms. Eventually, it'll be nothing but those and AE-Ms for feeding. Currently, two sea knights deliver to the global event locations when necessary. I HATE my 3 cloudliners, as it usually takes 25 minutes to fill the damn things. Meh. Only keeping them in the hopes they will be patched to suck less eventually.
I don't know if this was mentioned already, but the map should have the pinch to zoom feature instead of the -/+.
Has anyone seen any mystery packages for the recent global event (Goose Bay)? I'm currently just over 300 jobs and have yet to see any.
does someone know if there's a fixed number of jobs assigned to a specific airport? i'd like to know this because it feels like the numbers of jobs do not increase by buying more 10m airports and it seems more profitable to run fewer airports since less fragmented jobs would increase the possibility of instantly flying with the 25% bonus, or with less waiting time at least.
Yes having more airports dilutes your job pool going to any specific city. This is why many of the popular strategies only use 7-10 airports.
Global operations achievement? Hi I was just wondering what cities you need for the Global Operations achievement - according to http://pocketplaneswiki.com/Airport_Statistics there are 6 regions, one of which is Oceania, but looking at the cities in Oceania none of them have 10 million population. I have cities in the other five regions, I think (eg New York, Buenos Aires, Lagos, Paris, Tokyo). Thanx
I agree. Tiny Tower you couldve done whatever you want and how you want. The best you can do in Pocket Planes is your own route, what planes you use, how you use them, and if you want to make your own Flight Crew even though everyone is on TouchArcade. Theres not much diversity on this game.
Jakarta is considered in Oceania in the Pocket Planes world, so it is the lone 10M airport in that region. If you already have Jakarta (as I did), you just need to buy a new airport anywhere in the world (just a 0.01M city will do) to trigger the achievement.
