I'm playing the game horribly wrong, being horribly inefficient. How do I best get to optimal efficiency? My current is a serious nightmare. Money: $63,000 and 360 bux Airports: San Diego, Salt Lake City, Bismark, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Ottawa, Detroit, Montreal, New York, Goose Bay, Charleston, Orlando, New Orleans, Paris, Rome Planes: Griffon, Navigator x2, Wallaby x2, Kangaroo, Bearclaw, Supergopher, Airvan x2, Mohawk x2, 1) Do I close the level 1 airports? If so, which cities do I buy in place of them? 2) What should my plane set-up be with the new airports and route? Thanks!
Just finished exchanging 10k bux. Feels totally very rich now. Maybe i can buy all the class 1 airports and be totally inefficient. Does anyone know if more airports will produce more bux jobs chances?
Which level are you currently at - 12 maybe? You have airports in both the US and Europe but no aircraft that can cross the Atlantic (unless you missed them out as you put a comma after the Mohawks)... Do you go for the +25% bonus flying a full load of passengers / cargo to the same destination? I would personally sell some of those airports and not buy any replacements - the more airports you have, the less jobs you'll have going to the same destination and the harder it will become to fill larger aircraft to get the +25% bonus. A web type network of airports is good to begin with, but if you want to expand, you'll want to look at establishing a route - many have gone for LA - NY - London - Tehran - Bejing which can be accomplished with full range upgraded Pearjets unlocked at level 14. The game pays you based on a straight line which is why this route is popular. As you don't have much money right now, maybe sell 4-8 of those airports to start with (including Rome) and invest in buying LA. Then you have 3 large airports to run your Pearjets back and forth until you built up more money and level up to unlock Aeroeagles (level 16) - http://pocketplaneswiki.com/List_of_Planes Do you understand the concept of 'feeder' aircraft? With respect, please keep trade requests in the trade requests thread that you've previously posted in; http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=139281.
I think I finally have a routine down. Still needs some tweaking but so far so good. I have tried to keep planes going to certain areas but always ended up having them shoot off on different routes. Now I have three at both North America (feeding NY) and Asia (feeding Shanghai). Four planes run between New York and Shanghai dropping cargo and passengers where the three planes ferry them to outlying cities. I am kind of following Pezmages basic idea.
Spid, when you fly your plane from N.Y. to Shanghai do you ever load Shanghai guys, or only Seoul, Tokyo, Beijing?
Also another thing to add: NEVER ever fly an empty seat! Doesn't matter what you ferry, even if it's just an extra bit somewhat closer to its destination, unload it when you find a more suitable fare (possibly the 25% bonus) and grab it at a later stage. Your big airports might clutter up a bit, but as soon as you have 5 or 6 for one destination - off you, with the 25% bonus.
Have not been doing it long but followed your basic idea. Load top to bottom, fly to New York. Shanghai end up in the mix and get sent over either in one big group or with others. I have an issue with NY layovers being full at 60 atm which I need to rectify as it has bogged down the entire operation. But that is my tweak to the plan sadly.
Global Event Hey all, i think the own jobs in a global event are not counted correctly, I still have the same number of jobs even if there landed 3 more planes in Singapore. And this is not the first time.. any one else?
Hi All, Im new to this forum and have been enjoying Pocket Planes and reading the discussions in this thread. After reading Pezmages write-ups I thought I would post my current set up for comment which is similar to Pezs. To start, I have three ports in South America (Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, and Rio), three in Asia (Beijing, Seoul, and Tokyo), and also Kinshasa to allow Cloudliners to make the distance between the regions. In each region I have one airport storing P jobs and one storing C jobs. The third airport is an excess bux storage area. I have two P and two C Aeroeagles running between airports collecting the highest price jobs from the other region and storing them at the storage airports. Any free seats are filled with local jobs to offset costs. So as not to miss high bux jobs generated at the storage ports, those jobs are flown to the bux storage airport (C and P jobs). I then run the Aeroeagles constantly and end up with one airport full of P, one full of C, and one slowly building up with bux layovers. Four C and four P Cloudliners fly between Asia and South America, stopping at the right storage airport to collect jobs to get the 25% bonus and fly on to the destination, then to the storage port in that region. I find that with 50+ layovers, I can usually fill two Cloudliners per storage port without waiting, and that the Aeroeagles can supply those layovers in the time it takes for the Cloudliners make their rounds. The Aeroeagles give me something to do all the time and if I stop playing for some time, I am able to get the Cloudliners flying again on or soon after startup before scrambling the poor Aeros again.
Wait, Cloudliners can do the Beijing to Kinshasa flight? I was using Rusty's tool page and it says that fully upgraded Cloudliners can only make the trip from Shanghai or Guangzhou.
I'm still using the SA-EA three paired city system with feeders and Sequoia's making the main flight. I think the best part is that when I want to play a lot I can (feeder planes are constantly landing), but when I don't want to spend a lot of time on managing my airline I can just fill up the Seqs with whatever, set the waypoints, and send them on their way. I don't even bother having them stop in the middle to drop off and pick up new guys. I don't even lose too much money. Fully loaded Seqs with the 25% bonus earn about 11-13k in a normal run. If I just fill up with random stuff I still earn about 7-9k.
Can someone explain the concept of feeders, layovers and storage ports? I feel like I'm playing this game wrong lol. All I have is a bunch of clumped up airports in the US delivering random people and crates to destinations.
Yes, full range upgrade gets Cloudliners from Beijing to Kinshasa! I am sure Rusty's tool says that as that is what I used to plan the set up (great tool btw). Seoul and Tokyo miss out though, and I am thinking of adding Bangalore or Dhaka for slight savings when going to/from them (and bypassing Beijing).
To get the best profits, you should aim to get the 25 percent profit (from having all jobs on a plane going to the same place) as often as possible. But waiting to collect the same destination jobs from one port can take a number of job refreshes. Instead, any jobs available for a particular flight can be taken and delivered to another port (the storage port) and dropped off; the jobs become layovers that are now not lost between job refreshes and the plane that dropped them off is the feeder. At a later time a bigger plane can collect a full load of the same destination layovers for the 25 percent bonus and fly off to the destination. At the start your planes can't carry much and layovers feel pointless but as your fleet expands and your planes carry more jobs, layovers are the best way to efficiently gain revenue.
Insight of my PP experience so far. Now level 33 with about 20 planes including 6 Cloudliners, a lot of Sequoias and a few Cyclones and Aeros all max upgraded for evthg excluding speed. Also around 15 airports, all class 3 max upgrades. Having a hub of 2 very close airports of the same class has always been my main money maker. I assign a group of destinations to the first airport and another group to the second one. Then it's much easier and clearer for the layovers. And you can use Aeros between the two for cheap transfer of the bux jobs and building the layovers if needed. As I started in Europe, at first I had Barcelona/Madrid. Barcelona doing all the airports to the west and the north and Madrid all the airports on the east and South I now try to always operate airports in close pairs in the center of the map and a cluster of 2/3 airports in the end zones. I have Paris/London, Karachi/Mumbai, Lagos/Kinshasa , NY/Chicago And clusters Lima/Buenos Aires/RIo , Shangai/Seoul/Tokyo, and loners LA (had Honolulu and San diego, now closed but not sure of what other airports could be used with LA, maybe SF?) and JAkarta (hesitating to close but could be useful for events in Australia). For example, I assign all NA jobs to London, and all Asian jobs to Paris Karachi has layovers for Europe and NA where Mumbai gets Asia and SA... etc... Advices would be: - don't hesitate to close airports along the way (the class 1s around level 12/15, and class 2s in levels above 20). - Upgrade airports to the max when you can - Focus on the bux jobs cause that's what really matters in the end - Always try to get the 25% bonus, use layovers and have planes doing mass transfers to your hubs. - Upgrade your planes if needed, but not the speed as it kills your profit. - put your best old planes in the hangar, you may need them for events - Best planes excluding special ones : level 1 are Mohawks/Kangaroos, level 2 clearly Aeroeagles, level 3 Sequoias/Cyclones. Cloudliners depend on your ability to have massive layovers or wait a lot for refreshing the jobs so tough call. - Play your way and at your rythm because every strategy should work in the end! (but try to have a strategy lol) Have a nice game y'all
