You know the parts just go into your "parts" garage, right? You don't need to have a plane spot for the reward either, it will go into your Hangar. You should collect the parts just in case you want to have more of them later, or want to trade them for stuff later on.
I don't have a plane slot to have a class 1 plane that can fly from L.A. to San Diego is the problem I'm having.
I have a similar issue. I've just been stashing mystery parts in one of my feeders and I figure I'll deliver them all some time before the event is over.
I do b'leev I just figured out my lack of mystery parts, ROFL! I got mixed up with a local event (comic-con) in SanFran, and now it makes sense why it won't update my jobs for the global event... ...I haven't done a single one. LooooooooL never fly tired, boys!
First post, been lurking on here since Pocket Planes came out. A couple of us traded around and I got lucky enough to build a starship. NY is my hub, and I had my choice of bonus fares to send it out from. Tried NY --> Bangkok with one stop, negative profit. Upgraded it fully on carbon fiber, gave it a shorter route. Did NY --> Cairo direct for +393 coins! Extremely disappointing. I'm struggling to see the practical use of it at all.
I can't believe the lack of mystery parts, I am #24 in the crew with 649 jobs and have only seen one!
Ok now I'm really confused. You won't get any reward at all unless you deliver at least 5 jobs. So you're going to have to put on a class 1 plane no matter what. Since you have to do that, why not make all those jobs mystery parts? Lay 'em over at the closest place you can land, and deliver them sometime before the event ends. If you can't put on a class 1 plane, you're getting nothing at all.
Your luck is indeed bad. I've only done 152 jobs, and I've made two complete starships with a couple extra parts. However, I was checking each of my airports at every job refresh yesterday. If there was a part, I was bux'ing planes there to pick them up.
Yeah, the Starship operates at a loss no matter what you do...actually, the longer the flight, the more money you'll lose. http://yfrog.com/z/es37zbp
When the event started I had just reached the amount of money needed for my 22nd plane slot. So I bought it and put my Sea Knight in L.A. and was able to get the 5 jobs in 2 mins. But I already had plans for slot 22 and I couldn't really start putting layovers into L.A. without really messing my system up, so I hangered my Sea Knight and closed San Diego like 5 mins after opening it.
What does your spreadsheet do if you were to fill the Starship with only bux jobs? 1 bux = 500+ coin. My Tokyo jobs to Mexico City are worth 7 bux each. That makes a full plane of bux "worth" $10,500. Maybe running them as "bux only" jobbers isn't a bad way to go, if you can stand to see the huge negative profit
