I think advertising is totally worth it. The difference in jobs is pretty astounding. Since I have them turn on all the time I can't really give any hard and fast numbers, but maybe that will be a project for the weekend if the wife and daughter take a shopping trip.

How many planes do you have total? Do you have full layovers regularly? You might be able to swap some of your feeders out for big ones.

Good question. I don't have a good handle on what I have, I've changed my setup so many times since I started this game. I'm definitely not as organized as you with your red/blue color coding and all. :D Lemme go take a quick inventory.

3 Long Distance (Rio to Shanghai):
    1 Cyclone
    2 Fogbuster

    6 Floaters (Job/Bux runners):
    1 Pearjet M
    1 Pearjet P
    1 Aeroeagle P
    1 Aeroeagle C
    2 Aeoroeagle M

    3 Asia Layover/Feeders:
    3 Aeroeagles

    3 South America Layover/Feeders:
    3 Aeroeagles

    3 Global Event planes:
1 Aeroeagle (takes high paying Magadan jobs to Beijing)
1 Birchcraft (shuttles Magadan jobs from Beijing to Harbin)
1 Kangaroo (darn class 1 Magadan, it takes FOREVER to go from Harbin to Magadan)

As you can see, it's a disorganized mess compared to your setup.

I'm thinking of going back to the New York to Shanghai route … with LA/Chicago feeding to NY, and Beijing/Tokyo feeding to Shanghai. I used this setup before, and I think I spent less time micromanaging with this than my current Rio to Shanghai route.

My daughter likes to play PP with me. I set up a separate game on the iPad for her to play around with, but she prefers the more established game on my iPhone (level 30 vs level 10 or so).

That sounds like a good problem to have! :D

I'm nowhere near 9,999 Bux .... does it not roll over to 10,000 ?

Giving back to the wealth of info I've learned from this thread...

I'm a more casual player, currently at level 22. I'll play non-stop (pun intended) for 20 minutes and then may not get back to the game for hours. Here is my current approach:

    2 main flight paths:
Los Angeles <--> New York <--> London <--> Tehran <--> Beijing
Mexico City <--> New York <--> London <--> Tehran <--> Shanghai
I fly a mix of 4 pearjets, aeroeagles and sequoias along each route (so 8 total), always full for the bonus.

I have set up two regional hubs:
Los Angeles, Phoenix and Mexico City
    Beijing, Shanghai and Seoul
Each regional hub has 3 small planes (currently birchcrafts on the west end and kangaroos on the east end) whose entire responsibility is to get layovers to the endpoints of the two main flight paths. I am able to keep Los Angeles, Beijing and Shanghai at or near full capacity of 60, but Mexico City always seems to lag a bit (perhaps due to the regional distance). Occasionally I'll store extra layovers for the main terminals in either Phoenix or Seoul.

Additionally I have a couple of plane slots available for events and achievements.

I bet you could drop a feeder on each end and still maintain. I have 4 feeders on each end of my route and a ~far~ larger layover drain. That's awesome that you have free child labor to run your airline too! Mine is too young :(. I'd probably drop the fogbusters for cyclones asap also, I hated fogbusters.

I'm not participating in the event either like you are, that frees up a lot of plane slots for me. I don't know what I'm going to do if they pop an event with a prize I want that uses a class 1 airport. I guess I'll have to halt all operations and drop a couple aeroeagles while I make my five...

I have a problem with my North America hub too. It's frustrating as all heck to be at 60/60 in asia and 30/30 in North America when it comes time to fly.

Yupp, I think most peeps are going with Rio - Kinshasa - Karachi - and then an Asian airport like Seoul, but this will work with any of the Indian airports and Asian airports, and is possible with pearjet/aero with NO upgrades, hope this helps :p

Mumbai is better instead of Karachi. Also you need 1 range upgrade for Pearjets to make the trip.

Seoul -> Mumbai -> Kinshasa -> Rio is one the most optimal routes in theory as its almost exactly straight so there's no loss. On Aeroeagles it's ~6k profit per trip (~70mins) and in a Sequoia it's more like 11k in an ~75min flight.

Fed from surrounding class threes it's an easy uncomplicated earner.

I am level 16 and I think I have reached the end of my fun with the game. I can now travel from LA to Beijing (not in one trip obviously). I don't need any more airports, money, or bux. I could just hoard money but to what end? Essentially Pocket Planes has become like a Tomagotchi pet, just chirping at me with those little red numbers in the corner of the app. I think I might be done.

Sorry to hear that! You can try for achievements? You can try to maintain more than one route? Have you done anything with layovers or are just randomly flying about? At 16 you haven't gotten any of the biggies yet, which require layover support to be most-effecient, which adds a layer to the game.

I am fairly certain that in endgame South America to East Asia route beats North America to East Asia, provided you play a lot. The reason being South America's Class 3 airports are much more closely packed than the North American ones. So South America is much like East Asia where it's much easier to fill up on the layovers. You also need less feeders which means you can have more big planes up in the air. Finally it's feasible to do a quadruple route (Seoul - San Paulo, Rio - Tokyo, Beijing - Buenos, Lima - Shanghai).

I also noticed that it's possible to go from Shanghai straight to Kinhasa with a fully upgraded Cloudliner, skipping Mumbai completely.

Hey all! I have been following this thread for a few days and decided to register.

Quick question: I have Class 3 airports from London over to Tokyo in basically a straight line: London, Paris, Tehran, etc....I just bought Cairo to expand down into Africa, so that I can try and make a trans-atlantic flight over to South America. Is this the best way? Or is there another way for me to get over to South/North America? Thanks in advance for any advice!

What kind of planes do you use? You can do the transatlantic flight with a birch craft with 3 range upgrades from Lagos to Rio.

I think as you approach end game you'll have both of those routes open, truth told. I'm level 35 and I have two routes running North America to Asia (Chicago to Shenghai w/cloudliners and N.Y. to Beijing w/ Cyclones) and occasionally have problems keeping Chicago and New York full of layovers. I run 4 cloudliners on one route and 8 cyclones on the second. I did it this way as opposed to opening in South America because I was able to use less feeders. Once I have the feeder base I'll open the South America route as well.

The quadruple route set up sounds wonderfully complicated too, though the back-feeding to Buenos and Lima is pretty terrible. I'd likely just set a dual route there as well.

    End Game Optimization.

    Level 33
    20 Plane Slot
    2 x Cloudliner P(ongoing weight reduction upgrades)
2 x Cloudliner C (ongoing weight reduction upgrades)
4 x Cylone P (ongoing weight reduction upgrades)
4 x Cylone C (ongoing weight reduction upgrades)
    2 x Sequoia P (max weight reduction + speed)
    2 x Sequois C (max weight reduction + speed)
    2 x AeroEagle P (max upgraded)
    2 x AeroEagle C (max upgraded)

Would like to get a sanity check on my model and strat.

I've focused my business into 2 territories. North America and Far East Asia

All airports are max upgraded with exception of connecting cities

    Asia:
    Beijing
    Tokyo
    Soul
    Shangai
Jakarta (maybe thinking of replacing with Guanzhou)

    North America
    NY
    Chicago
    LA
    Mex City

    The Hub
    London
    Paris

    Connecting Cities
    Istanbul
    Tehran
    Cairo (for Jakarta)

    Current Strategy.

Fly everything on each continent into Europe (London/Paris) These are your dumping hubs.
Paris gets everything east bound traffic. (Asia cities)
Londong gets westbound traffic (North America)

Aeroeagles are used to short hops between Paris/London to transfer cargos to streamline layovers and also used for Bux-transport

    Basically:
    1. Class 3 planes fly from either Asia/NA into Europe. Dump their cargo/people depending on what destination.
    2. Fill up with layovers and fly toward the intended city.

    Considering:
Closing Cairo/Jarkarta - too far off the beaten path. - Open Guanzhou to increase eastern local network.

    What I like about this.
    1. No flights are more than 50 min since they don't go across the world - just halfway into Europe.
    2. These flights tend to be straight line. Maximizing efficiency/profit.

    Why no Africa/South America?
I have considered doing a route from Asia cities -> Mumbai -> Lagos -> Rio/Sao Paulo.

But it would be hard to concentrate traffic.
I would have to make Lagos a hub for east bound traffic. Mumbai for westbound traffic.
I'm not sure if this is a good idea. Can someone fill in in they have experience?

Also thought of: North to South America route. LA/Mex City/Lima (optional?)/ SaoPaulo+ Rio.

    Future plans:
Increase slots - fill with Cyclone Ps and Cs or Cloudliners

    Thoughts?
