I haven't been playing long but after I read the setups a lot of the advanced players are using I tried it out. So right now I'm running Sao Paulo ---> Seoul going through Kinshasa and Mumbai with Pearjets and Aeroeagles. I have two feeder cities on either side (all level 3) which are Rio de Janeiro/Buenos Aires on the South American side and Tokyo/Beijing on the East Asia side. I'm also considering adding Shanghai because the distance is about the same. The problem that I noticed is that this 2-city system is really inefficient because you only have the 2 cities that serve as your main route, and you're constantly wasting spots on your feeder planes since you only focus carrying passengers to two cities. Although the route itself is a very straight line and profits are high, you're still wasting a lot of potential by ignoring the passengers/cargo who want to go to the feeder cities. So basically I reorganized. I'm still doing San Paulo ---> Seoul, but now I'm also doing Rio de Janeiro ---> Beijing and Buenos Aires ---> Tokyo. So essentially I am wasting no space on my feeder planes and all my cities are now feeders/main route cities. This allows me to have a lot more larger planes doing routes. Theoretically the income should be almost triple that of just doing the one route. As for the Bux jobs, I take them on my feeder planes whenever I see them, and layover them at any other airport. Then I have my dedicated Aeroeagle-M pick them up for transport. EDIT: Oh, and the reason I'm doing Buenos Aires ---> Tokyo instead of Beijing is because the distance between Buenos Aires and San Paulo is longer than the distance between the other cities, thus saving on transport costs. The reason why this strategy works really well with SA-EA is because there are level 3 cities really close by in both areas. If all of the cities are level 3 they can all be feeders/main ports and thus very upgradable.
Bingo. That's the same thing I'm doing except Bejing to Buenos Aires and Rio to Tokyo. 2 sets of 3 aeros on each side as feeders for cyclones. To respond to your earlier question, I'd skip Pearjets. I personally find Aeroeagles a huge step up, and an essential part of my fleet well into the game. You don't want to waste bux upgrading Pears when eventually you probably will toss them due to P/C inequality. Don't worry about feeders right now, just load up your planes all with things to same destination and you're good. Concept of feeders is to maximize time that the bigger planes spend in the air, so you can resend them immediately. It's not really needed before lvl 22 for sequioas. You can choose to do with fog busters, but not essential with upgraded class 3 airports, more just helpful to establish your route. If I were to do it again, I'd also skip Tetras.
My mistake, I'm also doing Rio to Tokyo, I was wrote it wrong because I was thinking that I'm moving Tokyo jobs to Rio. I didn't ask about the Pearjets, that must have been someone else. Right now the only most advanced plane I have access to are Aeroeagles since I just started recently. I have noticed that Pearjets are horribly inefficient though. I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning and had to close a lot of airports etc. So the reason you should skip Tetras because faster thus they are not very efficient right? I noticed that faster speed for a plane actually means a lot less profit provided we stay at the same capacity tier. Also, I don't use M planes. I noticed that my M planes at the beginning of the game always had the lowest income and were harder to fill. But I'm guessing that M will work better for feeder planes?
Also, I'm using Birchcraft as feeders at the moment. Shouldn't they be better because they are more fuel efficient than the Aeroeagles?
hi guys any tips for me? just played this game for a week now.. current lvl: 12 cities: LA, NY, Mexico, detroit, philadelphia, kansas and phoenix planes: Birchcraft-C, Birchcraft-P , Navigator-P, Kangaroo-C, Navigator-C, Mohawk-M, Mohawk-P, Airvan-M, Seaknight coins: 91700, bux: 200 any tips for me what to do next and what aircrafts should i change to?
I've been updating the tools available on my Pocket Planes Tools page. I think the now completed earnings comparison tool is very useful - if I do say so myself. It allows you to select a aircraft, set it's upgrade levels and then enter a route around the world to as many airports as you see fit. It churns out stats about the trip and importantly the profit and profit/hour the route has with a full load of passenger/cargo travelling the whole route. And as a cherry on top you can store your setup in a table on the page and enter some others for comparison. I've been using it to look at my next upgrades. At level 20 considering jumping up from Aeroeagles to Fogbusters. The latter have a larger capacity (+2) and are much faster but do they earn more money? Well, yes and no. The profit from a single flight is lower on the Fogbuster but the profit/hour is higher. Now you have the numbers you can make informed decisions. I think the calculcation are reasonably accurate at least comparatively. Some itmes could be a little out f4rom what the game will charge/cost but one scenario to the next should be consistent. Have fun and let me know if anything doesn't work.
Huey for a FogBuster? I am only level 21 and no cloud liners are in the market. PM Me if you still want it.
Why are we only getting like 25 buxs on global events? The sea knight is awesome. I really want to have the concorde. Does sea knight coming in another events?
I have a feeling Nimblebit is trying to see what things they can do to effect participation, probably primarily because we've been so dominating. Maybe they're hoping that after doing a bunch of really low reward/pain in the butt events that the Toucharcade team will break up and people in the crew will go off to crew with more personal friends.
So far they've rotated between bux rewards and aircraft rewards. Additionally they probably reduced the bux rewards due to just how many of us are in the 1st place group and how easy it is to earn bux in the game, especially later on.
Yeah it is very easy to earn bucks in this game. I'm only level 18 and I'm earning at least 150 a day.
I loved my sequoias. I had 8 of them doing the NY <---> Shanghai route for about a week. Just today I cycled the last one out replaced with Cyclones. A fully range upgraded cyclone can go NY to Istanbul, so I can cut out London/Paris and make the route far more straight. Now I just need to build coins to put my second route in for my 4 unbuilt cloudliners! Going to need like 10mil coins probably when all is said and done :|
What planes are people using for layovers? I'm using Kangaroos at the minute. My best planes are Aeroeagles though, I guess the Aeroeagles themselves become good feeder planes once your fleet is full of class three planes?
