Yep, I tried to do something similar.

Don't worry, when an event is in east Asia, we'll make bank :)

I chose Southwest North america to start out and it ended up being the right choice :)

Just one question, I'm level 6, yet I don't even know what to do with plane parts I have. Or plane parts that I can buy. What can I use them for, and how? Thanks in advance!

That's what's good about it! Our TouchArcade group is so huge, that if an event happens in Bangkok (I had to say that airport because of the name xD), we'll probably have a few people near Bangkok so it'll be easy to climb the leaderboards while other members find a way to get to Bangkok and help us achieve jobs! We got it!

    I started there too, I'm level 4 :)
But plane parts, you can sell for $ or gift to GameCenter friends, but if you keep them and get enough parts, you can use them to craft a unique plane! I don't exactly know how, though, haha sorry!

From what I understand each plane model has three types, P (passengers only) C (cargo only) M (both, multiple maybe?...) And each model/type has three parts: Body, Engine, Controls. Once you have all three you go to your parts, and build. The build screen shows you all planes that you have at least ONE part for, but only has a green BUILD button next to the picture of the plane that you have ALL parts for.

Also, when you're in the market, parts that have green text are parts that you have some other matching piece for. So say you have the Planetype - C engine, and there's a Planetype - C Body for sale, the Planetype -C Body will be in green text.

I just realized: I have no life. I've been on this thread for a good 3 1/2 hours while playing Pocket Planes (and dealing with hundreds of crashes! GAH!)

I don't think the planes are unique... They're just cheaper to collect/buy parts and build than buying the same plane outright. Each part you find makes it "cheaper" to build that plane.

To see what parts ou have you click on the bottom right then do market to buy parts and parts to see the parts you have. Also I'm not sure of you can make unique planes unless Im missing something.

Ahh, got it! Thanks for the replies. I didn't even know you could sell the parts!

Too bad I already fell for my temptation of the IAPs... :/

I just realised that p means passenger. C means cargo and m means mixed. Also is there a trade thread?

Did anyone notice that the sky changes in the game? In my time zone, it's 8:30PM and it's sunset, and in game its sunset too!
Edit: Now it's nighttime! That's so cool!
Also, I love the various ways to get Bux, unlike Tiny Tower. Awesome, aside from the crashing and data loss. :(

Just encountered a HUGE BUG. I'm level 8 and won't go into detail how I did it (not quite sure really) but I unlocked an airport when I shouldn't have been able too and it didn't even charge me any coins to do so...

Not that I'm complaining really, but it should probably be fixed...

Yup. Same happened to me. Except it was with bux. I paid two bux for my plane to arrive at a destination sooner, and it did get there, but nothing was subtracted. Don't know what happened...

That happened to me! I bought a plane part for 3Bux and nothing got taken away. I'm not mad or anything, I don't want to cheat & rather actually play the game.

The bux is bad but imagine if could repeat this bug I can unlock every airport regardless of level or money...

Why don't you upgrade to IOS5? (That's not meant to be written in a rude-tone, it's just a polite question :p)

What is layover? I mean, I know what it is in real-world, but how does it affect this game?

Yeah, it's a stop on a trip in the real-world, but I haven't seen any layovers with my planes in PP. I don't know.
