I can't believe how much gameplay & content Pocket Planes has to offer to the casual player or hardcore player. This is a very well made game & I've had no need for the IAP's so far, but bought a $5 pack to give a nod to Nimblebit for their excellent efforts here!! Well done guys!
The alerts should be translucent, and ticker-tape across the screen just below the "Menu bar". And Denver should be a f*cking Class 2.
Ahh I see, it makes more sense to me when written like that. I dunno what I've been doing up until this point, haha. Thanks!
Yes, you are losing money in the flights to the hub, and you're only making small(ish) profit from the hub to the end of the crow foot, but when you consider the 25% bonus to the full planes, plus the fact they're only traveling from a hub to a crow foot, you're earning (in my case) £3k+ for one flight that takes 10-15m.
Another thing to keep in mind about layovers is you can funnel jobs into your Class 1 airports (like Global Event locations) by laying jobs over in a nearby Class 2 that your long range jets can reach. Then you have a class 1 plane filling up from the C2 airport to the C1 event city.

/signed. I like seeing the messages, just not right in the way. Recommend moving down to just below the top strip. Yes, so far anyway. Yea, good concept, just needs tweaking. None so far for me. Finished the Brisbane event in 13th place on TA flightcrew and saw some.
Couple Questions I've been playing for about three days now. I'm level 9, I started in NE North America. I have 10/11 airports (saving for Minneapolis at the moment) with 7 planes. I have a gameplan in my head but I am reading on this forum about "hubs" and closing airports. What is the use of having a hub and how do you upgrade to one. And is there a point to closing airports? Is it needed? Just want to also say that this game is a ton of fun and I can't put it down!
I've just put this into practice and I can already see how much difference it's going to make. I only have Mumbai as a single hub at the minute but I think I'll run out of layover spaces too quickly - I can see why you used two. I know what I'll be doing with London and Paris once I have the world covered.
Having too many airports means that you're less likely to get job combos. As you grow in the game, it is a good idea to spread out your airports so the combos are higher and your planes get faster / hold more. Also, you should GRADUALLY close class 1 airports for class 2, and then close class 2 for class 3 airports. Don't rush this though. Just do it gradually. A hub is an airport that then has routes to 2 or 3 (or even more I guess) other airports. You can drop passengers and cargo off at these airports from ones further away to give you greater 25% combos (layovers).
I'm not sure about hubs either but I can tell you that closing airports is good. AT the next level you get birchcrafts and they can ONLY land in class 2 and 3 airports. (blue dots, red dots). Therefore closing some gray airports will help since you can buy more blue and red. I think it is needed unless your just planning to stick with class 1 airports for as long as you play
