For the record, according to the forums, every Kairosoft game since GDS has sucked (or been great, just depends which posts you read ). Venture Towns hardly sucked. You might not have liked it, but as an advanced re-mix of Oh! Edo Towns, it did its job. I just buy them all and play them and figure out for myself. I haven't found any that I would call bad, just some that grab my attention easier than others. Heck, I grabbed this one even though I find soccer/football about as exciting as watching paint dry. Of course, I think the same about racing, and GPS was one of my favorite titles, so if they could make that fun, why not soccer?
Didn't show on my iPad but followed the link on iTunes and downloaded it there. Then it shows up on my iPad in the "Purchased" section under iPhone games.
Very simplified footbal manager. No red cards,no penalty kicks,no injuries,no selling players,i'm running with the same players for almost 5 years, now in national league. There's really nothing to compare to Football Manager Handheld 2012 or similar but for the gamers that want to try football manager without all the complexity and micro management, this one is ideal.
You know, this brings up an interesting point that keeps occurring to me as I play this game: it is astounding that all of these "serious" football management games still can't present an actual match for you to watch. While this much simpler game, can. Many years ago I played a management game based on Anco's Kick Off; I forget its name now. (Player Manager? Not sure, could be thinking of something else.) It was extremely shallow in the "management" department, but presented an actual match for you to watch. It was completely engrossing. This game, while very different, succeeds in the same way: it's hugely satisfying to actually watch the fruits of your labours unfold on the playing field in an actual match. Attachments to individual players are quickly formed and from there it's so much easier for the imagination to fill in any holes.
Anyone who thinks this game is trying to be any sort of "serious football management sim" just doesn't "get" kairosoft.
Correct. Kairosoft set out to make fun games, not serious/professional games (Football Manager Handheld 2012 is a comparison here >.>). Where when you lose in FMH it begins to get frustrating where in Pocket League Story its fun! PLS is light hearted and fun, and thats all that counts, surely?
Game Impressions Someone posted on the Kairosoft facebook page that they had the same graphics issues with their 3g iPhone. So I am pretty sure it's a non-retina display bug. Discovered another bug today (at least on my 4g ipod, not sure if anyone on a non-retina device would want to bother with the mess)-- on the 2nd play through, the game gets stuck and does not let you progress past the first league. Several users on the Kairospot forums confirmed this. No reply from them on Facebook yet... or on their Twitter page.
I'm stuck on this too... glad to hear I'm not the only one. I was going batty trying to figure out how I was supposed to unlock the next league/cup matches.
Yeah, the Kairospot forums, the Kairosoft FB page, and the appstore page have several posts on these issues by other users. Pretty disappointed by the lack of official response on this-- nothing on any of those places. I know it's not an English/language barrier issue, because their Twitter sounds like a native/semi-fluent speaker, and they obviously have a very clean translator for the games. So it is plain old bad PR.
Another issue to add to the list... You enter a single elimination tournament and if you draw a match you get knocked out. Doesn't make sense - should either have a rematch, extra time or penalty shootout - whatever... but don't knock me out when I don't lose!

Some people on the kairospot forums have had some luck with a workaround. I can't vouch for it as I haven't started a 2nd playthrough yet.
Heres a potential workaround fix taken from a kairospot.net mod: I got a second playthrough to work normally so far by deleting (third option in the save slot) my first save. I think I'm up to the Nationals now. Everything works like it should in a normal "new game+" with carry-over stats and all. Managed to fly through all the matches with 2 of the WC players I had on my team forever in the first game.
